  • Funny how educational fair use allows the use of everything except copyrighted educational materials.

  • It's terrible that we don't get to see the pictures...

  • I hope they show the slides.

  • Re copyright - yeah. Note that some companies actually had the nerve to try to patent human DNA sequences - the patent office went along with this. Now, there's court case to reverse this. You can not patent something created by nature. You can create products of human ingenuity like how to sequence a gene but not the the sequences discovered (not invented).

  • Copyright SO ANNOYING! I NEED MORE BRAIN FOOD!

  • I wish my teach could project her voice so I could hear and understand Bio and my be have a love for it like most people. This did help me understand DNA much better. Thank you

  • Aw he is the most adorable teacher ever :)

Thanks so much, hopefully this will help me pass my bio test tomorrow!!

  • What is the problem with copy rights and the video is removed because of it. then take the whole thing and remove it if you are shown the video only in parts. Someone please explain what is going on

  • thanks for improve people's knowledge in science......we need it!

  • Why can't you see the slides? Sorry but it is not ok...

  • These lectures are amazing, but thanks to those assholes who are trying to stop downloading the world has gone copyright crazy. I can google an image of GFP for gods sake - it's retarded that they can't show it on this video. Maybe if the music and film industries were smart enough to do biology they'd understand how stupid they are

  • this is hard to fallow when you see the Copyright ,,, goes to show you Teacher or MIT are afraid to show there content cause it could be wrong LOL.

  • These lectures are awesome for reviewing Biology material from a slightly different perspective than I was taught.

  • Why is a picture of a protein Copyright. Thanks for the wonderful presentation but its difficult to follow the course without the slides and pictures.

  • "Copyright concerns"........ WTF!!!!!

  • He sounds very interesting

  • Great sharing*

  • this is a little better than my class, but all that chalk just flying all over the place.

  • A geneticist is a biologist, who uses actual living things and observe it to see what parts does what for an organism A biochemist examines the parts of an organism and remove the gene to see if the organism can still work. I do not see how people cannot connect those two observations until 1975. Can anyone explain?

  • @lordabcde

for the start, your observation is not quite correct. it is not a geneticists job to tell you what part does what, he actually tries to find the gene for a certain function, for this he looks at mutants within one species and compares the genome of the mutant to the genome of the regular specimen. only then the geneticist can pinpoint the location of the gene. 1975 as qouted in the lecture is wrong, the connection was made in the early 1950s, no one knew what DNA was before 1953.

  • He loads his gun and shoot you with information as fast as he can.

  • So much for free education when I can't even see what he's talking about.

  • awesome 10x

  • BOO! COPYRIGHT CONCERNS!

  • "Removed Due To Copyright Concerns" WTF !!! These taxpayer subsidized, corporate-welfare, money-laundering, "Intellectual" institutions need to review their original "charter of ethics" and envision Jefferson's "big-picture".. . This abridged (censored) video should be viewed by Congress,... as a good example of copyright's, gone wrong !!!

  • Good Grief !! I'm only trying to help my son with his homework. I don't mean to trespass on someone's trade secrets, registered trademark, or ego-logo...Am I the one missing something here?

  • BTW, I mean no offense to Prof. Walker, he's very interesting :)

  • Just to clarify, sulfur (S), not sulfate ion; not 'principle' but 'principal' force. Precision, or being precise whether one is speaking or writing, is really an important skill to drill into those undergrads, especially for those science undergrads.

  • I hate to interrupt, but I must. Let's just agree to disagree and remember the central dogma: DNA --> RNA --> Protein. Now, as for all of the other cellular components and intermediates that are involved in this particular schematics, you'll learn them when you get into molecular bio or biochem, whichever comes first for you in your respective major of studies.

  • can someone please help me like right noww,,

like i need to know if there are other worlds beyond earth, and i need resourses.

i cannot find anything. but your help is appreciated.

  • I wish i was a board ninja and wrote that fast, thanks for the lecture videos, much appreciate it.

  • Is there an uncensored online bio course?

  • after all it'd introductory bio..

  • If I wanted to learn biology, I'd ask questions. Why would I want to watch a guy stand in front of a room and show off that he knows a lot about it?

  • dumb ass hes not showing off what he knows. hes teaching you idiot. how the fuck are you going to ask questions if you dont even know what to ask.

  • he is being pretty nice. what you said was pretty stupid.

  • Uh huh. You in college?

  • raised in public schools??? hoe condecending can u be?

  • Mmmm, not sure you're using the word correctly, but...

If only I were a school teacher, then I could get paid to be condescending.

In your reply to this, say, "oh, you jerk, how can you be so ~sardonic~".

    tyfyt

  • actually i was using the word properly

  • * Klinefelter syndrome * XYY syndrome * Turner syndrome * XXXX syndrome * XXXXX syndrome

    [edit] References

  • It's introductory Biology. It's equivalent to 9th grade honors biology.

  • I am in college studying biology, and if you take ever have to take a science course in college the first day or two is gravy always. it gets much harder, probably for intro to bio not that hard but upper level courses get bad

  • Wow you are so smart aren't you? Of course because he is still on lecture #2. Dumbass

  • Umm, that wasnt meant to be a patronizing comment. Seeing as how defensive you are, you make it seem like it should have been a patronizing addendum on my part. There is no need for arrogancy especially in an academic setting...It is natural that university reviews and so I cant understand your uncouth and certainly insecure tone. I know you are probably one of those witless twits who cant wait to get into university so you can prattle about how hard it is for you own emotional comfort.

  • man this guy should get a raise, well said

  • and you are uneducated.

  • indeed indeed

  • The intent of this video runs into the reality of socalled intellectual property.

  • Off-topic, but I love his handwriting o.o :D

  • This would be a lot more useful to biology students worldwide if you get the copyrighted material sorted out

  • I agree wholeheartedly

  • AGREE TOO!!!
