Originally, the Cougar was the Mustang's sister car, not the Thunderbirds. Cougar's did ride on three inch longer wheelbase then the Mustang, same platform though. In the early seventies, Cougar switched to Montego platform, then the T-Bird platform with the 1980 restyle. This was called the Fox platform that Ford used on many many cars.

@MinuteMaidDrinker i just bought a 71 for $700 is all original the only thing thats been changed is the timing chain on it as soon as i paid the dude for it he drove it to my house i need to find a grille and for it tho and its a bitch to find one round here i think I'm the only one in Northeast Georgia that has one lol

1993 Black Cougar LSXR7 for my first car 3.8L V6 good motor if u take care of it but it has an awsome ride nad handels great.
