Sorry as2711, there was no such thing as Hamas 60 years ago, there was no ethnic cleasing of Palestinians, otherwise, given the firepower of Israel, there would be no palestinians left.
On the contrary, some decades ago many Arab countries united to wipe Israel off the map, Israel never did that with the Palestinians. The Palestinians were never 'expelled', they never accepted, since the UN partition plan, that Israel could be a state.

Palastine needs to put all its rockets on a barge in the sea and lay down their arms. The only way for peace is to start being a peaceful people. Israel is attacking the gaza strip because rockets are being fired at them that cannot be aimed and could hit anything, that kind of fighting is useless. Arab voices would be heard better if they could just try to be peaceful for a while. Israel has tried to be peaceful but are surrounded by hate.

I also see that the palestineans have been living under occupation -- although forces were pulled from gaza 3 years ago the israeli govt maintained a blockade of supplies such as medical. This is abhorrent.

I can see that there are rockets being fired into Israel. That sucks and must cease immediately.
But I also see Israel firing guns (and possibly phosphorous? so it's ok to break laws now?) into a crowd of innocents in order to find a few culprits.

On finding common ground: I have heard other israelis who are protesting these acts in NYC speak in grief. they speak in grief because they say here are the gazans, who eat the same food, who look like us, and yet we can't find anything in common with these human beings?
Myself, being asian, and being from an island which was shelled for 3 months, I do not know how much these cultures have in common. EVerybody keeps trying to convince me they are "too different". we must look past that.

I would hate to be separated from my babies like that. And to give birth fearing any moment that one might die is also very painful. The pain in this woman's eyes is overwhelming.
For those who survive this, food and clothes and homes and schools are the immediate concern - but there are children who lost everything. And a baby who may never be able to learn properly because he lost oxygen - but even he would appreciate a toy and has none.

to claim that the blockade is a reaction to Hamas's rockets doesn't take into account the 60 years of persecution and ethnic cleansing of the Pals- no one mentions that the villages the rockets land in were Palestinian homes until the Israelis expelled them and took the land. Sorry as2711, there was no such thing as Hamas 60 years ago, there was no ethnic cleasing of Palestinians, otherwise, given the firepower of Israel, there would be no palestinians left.
On the contrary, some decades ago many Arab countries united to wipe Israel off the map, Israel never did that with the Palestinians. The Palestinians were never 'expelled', they never accepted, since the UN partition plan, that Israel could be a state.

I never said Hamas is 60yrs old- this conflict has not just occurred in the last few weeks- its been the result of 6 decades of persecution- and saying that Israel didn't expel anyone clearly shows your lack of knowledge about the state's creation- you should try harder to inform yourself of the facts- most Arab countries are actually ignoring these deaths currently and why should the children of Palestine have to pay the price for ignoranance of the people in power?
