@JsRacingTeamAU I don't know who I was talking to, being that the comment is 7 months old, but yes VW does have V5 engines. Was probably referring to a specific car.
P.S. If you're referring to especially the 2.3L V5 (found in a number of their cars, including golfs etc, they aren't true V engines. They are staggard. All cylinders share the same bank.
this is not a v5 enigne your right. but there is such thing as a v5. honda used it in there moto gp bikes in 2007 when they were 1000cc. it was 3 cylinders in the front then 2 in the back. so dont get calling people retards if u dont have a clue yourself.
Volkswagen introduced the first V5 engine, though this engine is not a true twin-bank V engine, but rather a VR5, or staggered bank straight-5 engine, and therefore not a true V5. It does not have one cylinder bank with 2 cylinders and one with 3; rather, it has all 5 cylinders sharing a single bank. The engine is derived from the VR6, and is thus a staggered 5, and has much in common with Volkswagen's earlier straight 5 developed in the 1980s for the Passat and Audi Quattro.
3DS is awesome for games, movies and special effects but Catia is WAY better for CAD and CAM because it has features like production and design analysis. When you want to build and manufacture a car or a plane from the inside out you will use this.
Very nice, I did a similar but simpler thing with a straight-6 (without the valvetrain), only with solid edge (which I hate). How long did the render take?
Really Great!!!
How did you create the exhaustmanifold?

OMG; You retarded ?
I work with Catia V5 R16 (version 5, release 16)
And V5 exists (in VW Golf V5 2.3L for example) however looking at this engine its not a V5 !!!
Noordzij1 2 years ago
They have Inline-5 cylinder engines---NOT a V5.
"OMG; You retarded?"
sh1znack 2 years ago
@sh1znack Perhaps you should look up Volkswagen then. They have been building V5 engines for over 10 years.
You retarded?

@sh1znack I am referring to the 2.3 V5 yes. The W8, W12 and W16 all work on a similar concept effectively having two banks of the "inline" V setups.

nice engine, gotta balance the crankshaft though or it'll crack a bearing and everything will be bad.

omg guys...the program is named CATIA V5 ...not the engine...it's a simulation made with the CatiaV5 SoftWare

KryspinPete 2 years ago
Hey, retards, there's no such thing as a "V5 engine", check out wikipedia or some shit, the poster meant CATIA VERSION 5.
Kudos to you man, nice engine, might just have to do something like this myself for school, but simpler :D.

There is such thing as V5 engine!!!
I didn`t beleve it either. Acctualy it`s not classical v5 - it`s VR5 and I don`t gavemixed it up with VR6.
V5 engine is used in VW Golf Mk4, bora and maybe in passat. As far as ikonow it`s used in some Audi cars too. Check wikipedia yourself!

lol. It doesn't say V5 engine! They don't exist. It says "Catia V5...." Catia V5 is the software that the animation was created with.
Sidowse 3 years ago
v5 engine do exist. :] volkwagen jetta have v5 engine :D
Hupa123 3 years ago
Ah! but its not a true V5 is it. It is basically a straight-5.
Sidowse 3 years ago
However, you are right that a "V5" does exist, even if that V5 isn't a true V5. A true V5 seems like an insane design choice.

Your stroke is too long cause the big end throws are spinning by their counter weights.
Move the counter weights away from the crank main axis. The stroke should be slightly less than the bore
RIPPERTON 3 years ago
Oh well... This is not a design of an actual engine, but thanks for the hint. Let it be a very long stroke diesel DOHC then :)
