WOW!! The fire crew took a long time to get there..smh, they need to fix that problem.. and you should'vs kept filming, it would've been sick if we could've seen the firemen(if they got there, jk) put the fire out!
The adjacent house did not burn or suffer major damage. Yes, the radiant heat did cause the vinyl siding to melt some. The homeowner simply replaced the melted siding on the one side of their home. Good as new again. Over 4 years later now and all that remains is a vacant lot where the home that was destroyed once stood.
Over 6 minutes of video and no sight or sound of a fire truck, WOW. Notice towards the end of the video the house to the right is starting to see the effects of the radiant heat. I wonder if that house burned too.
honestly where is the fire dept. ? and even though that house is a total loss why isnt any one putting water on the adjacent structure to the fire?? thats a ridiculously slow response.
I would've hated to be one of the neighbors next door cuz the grass was catching fire. I Would've had a garden hose ready to prevent the fire from spreading. also, after the dog knocked the tiki torch over, where did it land? I'm guessing on a pile of flammable materials.
@DrSurprise my guess: the grass cought, someones pant leg cought fire, the person screamed in fear and hit his face against a wall on accident and collapsed and then the fire that was on him spread around his surrounding area.
@mileyrocks878 How it happened was explained in one of the first few comments from 4 years ago. "...a stray dog ran into their backyard and knocked over a tiki torch that was lit." ....Also, no one was heart OR hurt! ;)
I always found it strange when a a home is new and what is worth ¼ Million or more and contractors will not put in a fire sprinkler system and a large water supply.
Wow. That went fast. Saw something like that on a call once. Pulled into the drive which was about 100 meters long. Looked like we had a chance to save soemthing. By the time we were at the end of the drive out of the truck and had a hose in hand it was over. Sometimes it is just that fast.
Cheap plastic sided houses should be banned, they are not only structurally weak, they are very dangerous to all involved. Besides, they are downright ugly. Imagine being a fireman and having to fight those intense flames and breath that toxic smoke. American builders are ridiculous for putting up such trifling trash that they pass off as houses today.
Only negative thing I seen from the pictures was the lack of safety being taken by the Vollys, They should have donned PPE no matter how bad the fire was, That is why they are issued gear, Better to be Safe and go home then Be messy and end up toes up later down the road.
@77CaliBoy Learn to read a persons comment in full before opening your mouth please, I said "The volly's were moving as fast as they could" meaning they were ENROUTE from their homes or places of work at the quickest they could possibly get to the station so they could respond to this fire. I never said they WERE ON SCENE. some states allow volly's to run lights and sirens, some dont, If they were not running code then most likely will add a couple of minutes. So before you get smart, READ!
@astanford09 Well I have to say, Iv been w/ the Fire Service a few years now and never heard the term "VOLLYS". Out here in California we call Volunteer F/F`s P.C.F`s ( Paid called F/F`s ) Or just simply Volunteers. But every state has a different meaning for a Volunteer. And also here is California we can not have Code on our P.O.V`s. California highway patrol will not allow it. But I have to say neither way, the response to this "Fully working structure fire" is very slow!
@77CaliBoy Here in Texas we also use the term "volley" for volunteer firefighters. It isn't meant to be disrespectful or derogatory, just a slang name, more or less. I work for a paid department, but I also volley for the rural community where I live.
@ Everyone asking where the FD is, This as stated above is a Volunteer Fire Dept, That means that not only do the Fire Fighters have to Leave Work/Home but they have to respond to the station and then respond to the fire, Thus increasing the response times. If this was a career dept with it being 3 miles away they would have been on scene already. But what can you do? The volunteers were moving as fast as they could!
@15marinecorps Awesome man! Best of luck to you and ALWAYS be safe brother!! If your on FACEBOOK check out a guy named "Kurt kamm" He write F/F novels and always has great pictures of fire scenes!
As I posted on another similar video: I was on scene of a room and contents in a 2 story attatched garage room and contents fire one snowy night. I was accross the street and walked over to it. My engine was just leaving another call less than 3 miles away. Before they arrived, the house fell into the basement. These homes are built from lightweight material and burn with incredible speed. Don't judge your FD unless your facts are in order. It's true, we don't trade firefighters for property.
MrsTaboo, this video is not a good example, and space limits my response, but I mean this nicely. The FF's do not let the fire burn. Someone is always working doing certain things in a specific order. You should vent before you enter etc. Of course if someone is known to be inside, the rules change. However, you do not trade firefighters for property, or firefighters for bodies, you only take the big chance on possible living victims inside. Brief explanation, but that is the jist of it.
fairdaleguard, our district is only 9 square miles, guys are almost always hanging around the station to get the first truck out, and unless you are across the street you are not getting anyone on scene in 3 minutes. You said 8 miles. 8 miles at 60 mph takes 8 minutes. Better check your math, unless you have rocket powered fire trucks... lol
i am a ff in virginia and i agree with jshopay because you dont know when the fire got called in and it usally takes about two min for the dispatcher to get the info. But the fire does look like it has been burning for a lil bit.
i know i have NO knowlege what so ever of being a fire fighter, and please pardon me if i sound rude, (not trying to) but why in the word do the fire fighters let the house burn so long?? These people lost everything when some of it could've probly been saved. God Bless those people.
Just want to ask all you folks on here bashing the FD a question? Exactly when was the FD called? You are all assuming that they were called at or about the same time this video was started. Poor assumption.
Another thing, the original poster said it is a volunteer FD located 3 miles away. That is a minimum 3-4 minute DRIVE at 60 MPH. These guys need to get from home to the station, gear up and get out the door first. Six minutes seems a bit unrealistic to me.
Just so you know where I am coming from: I am a career EMT in PA. We are in the station and it sometimes takes us 10 mins to get on scene. Lights and sirens don't give you permission to disobey all the rules of the road.
And all these supposed FFs saying their VOLLY house can be on scene in under five minutes, DOUBT IT! Even with guys in the station it's going to take you 1 minute to get out the door, so unless you have a tiny district, you have some places that will take you a while.
lightning set our apartment on fire and they were there by time we ran outside after waking every1 up,we got outside,2 bedrooms were gone and they already had ladders set up and lines, the whole 9,there time was about 3 minutes
How do we know when the FD was called? Maybe not for the first five minutes or more. Also, if the FD is volunteer, six minutes on scene time is fairly unrealistic.
takes ems about 6 mins to get on scene and fire dept is no where to be found? when did the fire dept get on scene? it takes us 3 min to respond and onscene in 8 miles on a busy day and maybe 2.30 mins on a light traffic day
the house on the rightwas about to go, it was smokin at the end. great video, the fire department did take a while, but you must consider, this possibly could have been a volunteer dept. they could be men and women eating supper with there families and get the call, then responde to the station, wait on a crew then get the truck and go to the call. i do this routine everyday not all the time can there be a extremeley quick response.
thats scary....what took the fire department so long to get there?? Did it spread to the neighbors houses, it looked like the fire was spreading on the grass.
the fire sept probly didnt take to long. consider the following,
- average response time from when the tones activate to on scene is usually three to four minutes
-if the fire started somewhere and the owners were not home, the fire must be visible from the exterior to be recognized,
-911 takes 2 minutes to relay the information from you to the fire dept. and the average 3 to four minutes to respond. where does that leave this fire.\
(and if there volunteer, response would be around 5-6)
i think the fire dept was afraid to fight this fire you can hear them coming but they never get there. they are propably going to wait to put out the slab...
sad loss for the family we hate pullin up on structure fires and seein a complete loss thank god we have fill the boot to raise money for families who had this happen to them
so i heard the fire dept. coming, but where are they? the house is gone but they gotta protect the exposure on the 2 surrounding houses! the right one is starting to catch fire
"where the hell is the fire department?" What has hell got to do with it? And why is God to be thanked for anything, can you see God doing anything here? Inflammable material burned in the presence of air in exactly the way one would predict it would in the absence of intervention from invisible magical beings which the superstitious need to involve in every utterance.
We have science now, you can drop the superstition, we have better explanations for physical phenomena than the whims of gods.
Only if you are prepared to blame God when there are fires that people do not escape from. If God can be thanked for the one survivor in an inferno he can be blamed for the entire disaster. Why did God burn down that house? Nobody was hurt because they got out. Thank smoke detectors maybe. If God could ensure nobody was hurt by magical invisible intervention he could have ensured that the flames died out. Or do you suggest he probably didn't actually intervene but requires to be thanked anyway?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Both videos are a total of just under 7 min! Nobody is getting there that fast! If you say you can.. your lying! Not to mention it looks like it may have been burning good before the FD got the tones. Just a real hot fast moving fire! It happens unfortunately!
Im a FF in SC and county control usually tones out 3 dept's dunno how its done over there but shyt man.. Where are the FF's at.. This area a good way from town or something?..
im in NC where u at in SC? we are a fully volunteer dept. and our average response in 3 to 5 minutes. if you think about it the dept. is probably not being dispatched untill the fire is through the whole attack, if the owner isnt home, consider how long it takes for the fire to exit the structure and be noticed, then the 2-3 min relay of info and 3-4 min response time
Yeaaaaaaa, they better focus on the exposures first lol because that other house is about to ignite you can see the flames creeping up to it and its already smoking..
damn shame about the house. where the hell was the FD? I watched both videos and only saw an ambulance. I,d be embarrassed if this was my dept. we roll the rigs in 2-5 minutes
As a homeowners in this area I would be shocked that it took so long for ANY fire department to show up. If a volunteer district, what about mutual aid. There is no way it should take this look to get on scene.
you can choose where you live but unfortunatly you cant choose your fire dept. and nothing shocks me about volunteer depts anymore or paid depts for that matter. good luck
There are only 6mins worth of video shown, assume the fire was burning for even 5 mins prior to that and you have the fire department on scene in about 10 or 11 mins. Not too bad for a Vol. FD.
I filmed this....I heard that a tiki torch fell over onto a can of tiki fuel and possibly also a can of lawnmower fuel on the BACKside of this house so it would stand to reason that if those were facts that there would be no apparent 'gasoline trail' visible from the view of the camera filming the front of this home. Not all is always what it seems,
Some of you people are just IDIOTS! Ever think that the people here may be hurting over this??? My 2 1/2 yr old grandson (who lived here) watched all his things burn up...how funny is THAT? 2 yrs. later, he'll still cry about his teddy "dying"...is that funny/entertaining? Allemander did the best thing in that situation. My son (the homeowner) tried a garden hose...guess what?? It melted! Imagine that...the water inside couldn't stop it from melting...must have been HOT!!! Stop bickering!!!
wr catfish are the charleston 9 like the jena 6?was just curious, are you yourself a fire man, you guys love hoses and poles so who exactly is the gay one,
I heard they had a huge spider in the house and this is how they killed it.

(and if there volunteer, response would be around 5-6)

and where the hell is the fire department?
andyli916 2 years ago
thats what im saying
realfighter1977 2 years ago
"where the hell is the fire department?" What has hell got to do with it? And why is God to be thanked for anything, can you see God doing anything here? Inflammable material burned in the presence of air in exactly the way one would predict it would in the absence of intervention from invisible magical beings which the superstitious need to involve in every utterance.
We have science now, you can drop the superstition, we have better explanations for physical phenomena than the whims of gods.

Thank GOD nobody was hurt
HotMix106 2 years ago
Only if you are prepared to blame God when there are fires that people do not escape from. If God can be thanked for the one survivor in an inferno he can be blamed for the entire disaster. Why did God burn down that house? Nobody was hurt because they got out. Thank smoke detectors maybe. If God could ensure nobody was hurt by magical invisible intervention he could have ensured that the flames died out. Or do you suggest he probably didn't actually intervene but requires to be thanked anyway?

Both videos are a total of just under 7 min! Nobody is getting there that fast! If you say you can.. your lying! Not to mention it looks like it may have been burning good before the FD got the tones. Just a real hot fast moving fire! It happens unfortunately!

SCRainmaker 2 years ago
sorry dude your post was alright. sometimes i just get stuck on stupid.
WRCATFISH 2 years ago
im in NC where u at in SC? we are a fully volunteer dept. and our average response in 3 to 5 minutes. if you think about it the dept. is probably not being dispatched untill the fire is through the whole attack, if the owner isnt home, consider how long it takes for the fire to exit the structure and be noticed, then the 2-3 min relay of info and 3-4 min response time
thorny82much 2 years ago
Yeaaaaaaa, they better focus on the exposures first lol because that other house is about to ignite you can see the flames creeping up to it and its already smoking..
bigmlt3 2 years ago
damn shame about the house. where the hell was the FD? I watched both videos and only saw an ambulance. I,d be embarrassed if this was my dept. we roll the rigs in 2-5 minutes

those fire fighters got there so quik! (not!)
dylancatlow 2 years ago
As a homeowners in this area I would be shocked that it took so long for ANY fire department to show up. If a volunteer district, what about mutual aid. There is no way it should take this look to get on scene.
tennis1984 2 years ago
you can choose where you live but unfortunatly you cant choose your fire dept. and nothing shocks me about volunteer depts anymore or paid depts for that matter. good luck

no firetrucks on scene and this thing was burning for what looks like prolly 20 min or better
Skankpronger 2 years ago
There are only 6mins worth of video shown, assume the fire was burning for even 5 mins prior to that and you have the fire department on scene in about 10 or 11 mins. Not too bad for a Vol. FD.
urbansasquatch72 2 years ago
They might need a brush truck up there and atleast 2nd or 3rd alarm tankers
PGMEagle 2 years ago
They better save that person's yard first the house is gone.

there seems to be a gasoline trail...................guy filming...?.... do you know anything about this?
richbo666 2 years ago
I filmed this....I heard that a tiki torch fell over onto a can of tiki fuel and possibly also a can of lawnmower fuel on the BACKside of this house so it would stand to reason that if those were facts that there would be no apparent 'gasoline trail' visible from the view of the camera filming the front of this home. Not all is always what it seems,

@richbo666 but did you see that guy in the begining
and the gun shots

Some of you people are just IDIOTS! Ever think that the people here may be hurting over this??? My 2 1/2 yr old grandson (who lived here) watched all his things burn up...how funny is THAT? 2 yrs. later, he'll still cry about his teddy "dying"...is that funny/entertaining? Allemander did the best thing in that situation. My son (the homeowner) tried a garden hose...guess what?? It melted! Imagine that...the water inside couldn't stop it from melting...must have been HOT!!! Stop bickering!!!
