Ed's got it all wrong. I work in human resources. ANY workplace can unionize. In fact if the employees felt like it, they could sign the authorization cards and then have a secret ballot election to become a recognized union. That is choice. No secret ballot equals (drum roll here)....you guessed it: coercion. "What, YOU didn't want to support the union?" Yeah....sounds real free and like a choice, huh?

@Christian121y And no one ever signed something without reading it right? Or maybe get some fine union pressure "What's wrong with you? How come you won't sign? Everyone else did." That would NEVER happen, right? The secret ballot is to allow for a cooling off period so that employees can consider whether or not they really want that union. If they still want it, then they will get it. And if you think that unions aren't out there scamming employees and their members, then I pity you.

People need to look at Caterpillar Inc..they are destroying our union and while they made 51 billion last year they are paying low wages,no pension, and terrible benefits and then moving our union jobs to Arkansas and Texes..non unions states. For cheapers wages..unions need to be aware what Cat is doing because they are setting the trend..

The business sector enjoys the benefits & protections of "unionizing" under the umbrella known as "corporation" which grants them limited liability for harms their business activities may cause. It, also, helps them avoid taxes with offshore incorporation & paying a fair wage (the U.S. Chamber of Commerce spends millions lobbying against raising the min wage). I'm retired now but thank god I had a union to look out for us little people. Before I retired, the bosses had begun to cut the legs out from under the union. It was painful! The bosses began to treat us like animals, because they could. Everything seem to change under Geo W. Bush.

So I'm warning you to please, please make those call and send letters to your congressman. You'll be happy U did.
