  • i'll like it because of the effort, thought the video quality isn't that great, or the planning out of it... though good idea, try to time each video slide just as you start a task, not in the middle of it.

  • Frankly this video sucks.

Ubuntu is so nice for several reasons which you completely failed to show in the video.

#1: No Desktop Clutter! - WTF did you do? Dump your Downloads folder onto your desktop?

#2: WINE Emulation is much better than you showed - Nice visual of an error message in your WINE display. *rolls eyes*

If you really want to show off an Ubuntu install, do it from a fresh install! Show people how it really is different, not what it looks like after you trash it.

  • what did u use to make this video??

  • lol ubuntu sucks, only good for servers. lolololol

  • windows copy fail.

  • wtf! ubuntu could have make a much better ad!

  • linux is awesome in my opinion, i like the effects, i like the way it looks and all the customizations to suit any users opinion, and the best part i like about it is....It's FREE ;-)

you would think that a free Operating System was never gonna happen, well... Linux is here!

  • Crap! I can only give you ONE thumbs up!

  • i like linux very much if only i cud fix the resolution problem i have with it.

  • downloading + installing programs is so amazing with LINUX, there all in packages which you get from one center.. ovcourse if you need to the more advanced programs you will need find, download and compile them ureself sometimes but all in all it fits me perfectly! :)

  • and they're free ;)

  • I'm starting to like Linux.

We are searching for a developer.

  • Are you finding a deloveper?

I work on apple so, sorry but one of our programmers that made the darwin OS havn´t gt a work, beacause apple had contract a better person, so... I am going to ask her.

  • I'm becoming a developer...

    PLZ ask !

  • What software did you use for video editing?

  • Comment removed

  • download it

  • lol...nub

  • no offense but as an ubuntu user I recon this advert is rubbish.

You've got a garish wallpaper and loads of icons we can't read which makes it look untidy and naff and you don't really demonstrate anything other than it can run Steam.

On the plus side, I like the music.

And I realise you did it a while ago as a project and won't be updating it. I'm just sayin'

  • great video

    ;)

  • Which is the title of the song?

  • not sure... but ....the badly synched vocal dubbing trick is unmistakable... It's Jose Gonzalez.... Don't get me wrong... I like many of his songs and he's a good and creative guitarplayer... but.... idem dito

  • so good i really like it, now i am acctualy intrested in a linux computer.

  • It's well worth it.

  • They feel it doesn't have an important enough market share. Its a vicious cycle, and the only way to break it is to jump into Linux to help it get a sizable market share, and then software companies will follow.

Besides the only two things lacking in the Linux software world are video editing packages, and games.

  • Couldn't of said it better. Plus theirs Wine, so you can run windows stuff on linux

  • Wine is cool. I once wanted to install a program quickly on Linux but there were some problems and I was too lazy to find out what it is. So I just downloaded the windows version of the same program and it worked fine with wine ^^

  • @PreFix001

Video editing, try Kdenlive It's very much like Sony vegas Pro.

    It's open source :D

  • dell does;)

  • yeh the cluttered desktop etc don't exactly help sell "Ubuntu" as opposed to "Linux". it's not selling Ubuntu because it doesn't look like ubuntu. it looks like arch, gentoo, fedora etc i.e any linux using Gnome.

frakk it could even be OpenSolaris! :P

  • haha, very good point.

A vanilla install would have worked better, but I didn't think about it at the time.

  • wow, thats alot cleaner than damn small linux. i think i might install one of these on a virtual pc. and hell if i really like, it. i might put it on my real os. im downloading it rite now! ps. great vid. did you get an A on the project?

  • Hope you enjoy it :)

Thanks for the great words, and yeah I got 'Distinction'.

  • cool, thats neat!

  • is there a way to actually PLAY those steam games?

  • Yes, double click on them.

  • You know what I mean...directx on linux and the whole shabang.

I did though figure out that it is possible..

  • Like it, But don't do an advert using a cluttred desktop and cluttered panels!

  • :) - Fair point, if I was to do it again I'd polish it much better, and use the Default Desktop.
