  • Definitely something wrong with the upload. When I try to skip ahead the video just restarts.

  • I just love the way Oingo Boingo covers songs...:D. This one makes me want to just bounce all over my room.

  • ok, wtf. Why is the video 0:00 yet it plays for a long time?? Refresh wont fix it :O

  • I still think Devo's Satisfaction is the GREATEST COVER SONG EVER!!!!!

  • Wait just a goddam minute, Ray Davies wrote this song, the original Kinks song isn't a version it's definitive, not really in the XTC class.

  • why doesnt Boingo start a revival tour?

  • Danny's vocals here aren't really singing. He's basically yelling into the mic. Love it!

  • Was on the local University radio last night. It was the perfect fit for the strange things that were going on at the time.

  • Danny Elfman is just a master musician, I like this version waaaaaaay better than Van Halen or the Kinks.

  • "Too bad they took out your baby..." :-D

  • What I like about this is that it's not just a straight copy. They made it their own.

  • Best cover ever...BETTER than the original!

  • I have the original album and I believe when it came to putting these lyrics on the sleeve, it said something like "you ought to know these by now" or something close to that and there were NO lyrics listed. Classic. Loved that. I saw them in Ann Arbor around 1981 or so. What a concert and band!

  • Brilliant, like an American XTC.

  • Note to raynsung:

    Not offened at all pardner...

Just a flamboyant artistic type who likes to EMPHATICALLY state the OBVIOUS! (Shame on ME!!)

  • @BadNews88 .....so confused..... are you angry or.... forget i said anything.

  • Note to raynsung:

Gawd, would I *LOVE* to hear *THEM!!*

Elfman, IMO, is an UBER-brilliant & rather underrated musical genius y'know...

  • @BadNews88 of course i am just saying that this song is not the only song they covered, that boingo covered other songs than just this. Oh and it helps to press the reply button when you reply to people. Sorry if my previous comment was misunderstood as an insult.

  • How cool! I remember this!!

  • lol, what tha fucking hell is this!? XD

  • Saw em in Dallas 1982 loved this version.....

  • Note to dbdeg88:

Agreed! And this is the ONLY song that Elfm,an & Co. EVER covered. All else was his own work. And this my ALL-TIME UBER-MEGA-ULTRA RAVE-FAV E from the "ONLY A LAD" LP.

    Thanx fer it, m8..

  • @BadNews88 Danny Elfman also covered Minnie the Moocher and St. James Infirmary.

  • @monsterkittykat go die ina fire you shit eatingbitch

  • My Favorite version of this song!

  • I'm diggin' this like crazy. It's as way-out and unique-sounding as Devo's cover of the Rolling Stone's "Satisfaction."

  • Oingo and The Kinks are two of my favorite bands of all time!

    *insert Kinky Oingosquee*

I love the bounciness and the electrosynth/brass combo. The only other band I can think of off the top of my head that sounds anything like Oingo is Madness. Not exactly, mind you.

  • The man managed to turn a rather upbeat love song into something creepy and stalkerish. So awesome!

  • this reminds me alot of devo covering the rolling stones "satisfaction"

  • I love this song so much. This is one of the best covers of all time.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!

  • It's amazing to hear that the psychedelic carnival in Danny Elfman's head was on tour long before he wrote The Simpsons theme.

  • @1snazzyg8r

Funny you should mention "psychedelic carnival." Elfman reminds me of a cross between the Koopalings Lemmy and Ludwig (mostly Lemmy).

    XD

  • Oddly enough, I like this cover much more than the Van Halen one. Probably because it sounds so radically different from the original version by The Kinks. I don't like it when covers sound too much like the original song, and this version certainly can't be accused of that.

  • If a cover were to sound like the original, there would be no point in listening to it...I mean, why not just listen to the original, no?

  • Westlife seem to have done okay from ripping off...I mean covering other peoples stuff.

  • Uh...it's a cover. The original was like 15 years before this band.

  • True xD

    Im such an idiot...

  • Ahh nice xD - I dont know if they did the original to this song or if its a cover but its fricckin awesome xD
