I was shocked when I saw this for the first time. And I laughed, no I litterally LOLED eight years ago because I hated Aerith for getting in the way of Tifa and Cloud. Now that I've accepted and even felt endeared towards Aerith (thanks to Crisis Core building her relationship with Zack) I only smile very widely. Because damn, no matter how much I like you Aerith, a moving Sephiroth will make any Jenova smile <3

As he created cloud, Tifa, and all the other characters to have their purpose. She only reacts the way the creator of the character would have wanted her to. She was looking at Cloud, she wouldn't have noticed. Sephiroth's descent is presumably in slow-motion in this scene as well, so it was probably (in real-time) a lot faster. As for not hearing him, aren't they surrounded by waterfalls and stuff in that place? None of the sounds that would (in a real version) have been heard were emphasised. Maybe there was noise pollution?

Just saying, all you hear in this scene is music which they probably wouldn't have heard, and there would have been other noises. Since Sephiroth's jacket was flapping, there was probably some wind. The premise of her not noticing Sephiroth is highly logical, even if nothing else is.

Honestly, ever since I had an alternative image stuck in my head, this scene has never been the same. Imagine, if you will, the prayer scene taking place up to this scene. Except that just as she finished her vigil, you hear a deep, bellowing howl. "ARES!" Just then, the God of War, mother fucking Kratos lands and proceeds to turn Aeris, Cloud and any other unfortunate sob present into various bits of health and EXP. Once Cloud put aeris in the watery lake of shinyness I lost it. I was sobbing before mind you but when she slowly sank down into the abyss with messed up hair, while could looked down at hear no longer lifeless eyes I coiuld hold it in anymore.

I defenatly hated sepheroth after that, but even then I STILL think he's a bad ass.
