  • @NamluSucuk How about djent with midgain compressed Engl.

  • They're not Djent. The chords they use are quite similar to those used by periphery or tesseract, but they are not Djent.

  • @mauritia Dude, Periphery is djent stupid.

  • @BeforeThePlagues Hey stupid, I was referring to Haunted Shores fucktard. Can you fucking read?

  • You just fucking said they weren't djent, you was just pointing out the fact that you thought they weren't djent after you said they weren't.

  • @BeforeThePlagues I know i said HAUNTED SHORES weren't Djent. Using chords heavily used by Periphery doesn't mean that Haunted Shores is djent. Got some logic? Maybe not.

  • this is amazing

  • To all of those who say djent isn't a genre, you're dumb. A new genre is slapping you in the face. Get over it. Djent is different from progressive metal or tech metal.

  • @CMihal6293 Djent isn't a genre, it's a buzzword. This is Prog Metal, not all progmetal has to sound the same.

  • @Umaiketsu - Oh wait, but buzzwords turn into more than that if they stick around. Djent is becoming a genre, as a subgenre of Progressive.

  • @UnderDetention But Haunted Shores is far from the Djent sound. The only similarity it has is that Bulb is involved.

I've heard Djent referred to once as the nickname for the current movement in progressive metal, I find that that suits it more than anything else.

  • @Umaiketsu i agree. Haunted Shores is Thrash before its Djent, in my opinion. Djent is a palm mute techinque, which ive yet to hear in HS.

  • @CMihal6293 GENREWARS!

  • This is awesome.....nothing more to say

  • It's hard for me to call anything played on 6 strings djent. It's just not as full as a 7 or 8 stringer.

  • @Dissimulatex djent isn't a genre get over it

  • @xaniasx No one said djent was a genre you fucking tool. It's a tone on the guitar. That isn't done as well when it's on a 6 string.

  • @Dissimulatex No it's not a tone it's a chord. lol

  • This really reminds me of Periphery

  • @Aborius Misha plays for them.... so that would explain the similarities..

  • Eliot Coleman added vocals to it!

  • For the record:

    1) Haunted shores don't have a drummer. Its all superior drummer you are hearing.

    2) Haunted shores is not Djent - Its basically progressive metalcore with huge open chords.

  • djent is more of a groovy admorission to the whole outlook of the song... if you listen to periphery you will find this most fasinating and wonderful to listen to... a great change from strict metalcore and basic ideas.. think of a whole new realm of music for us metal heads

  • As usual, good music, stupid people.

  • like everyone stop bitching. music is music. if you don't like it then why even click on it? so get a life....blah blah blah. thumbs up if you see this comment a million times a day.

  • @jtmcneil90 I liked your comment until you asked for thumbs up, those type of comments piss me off. And some people click on it to discovery new music, not everyone has been listening to this band already, or heard this song.

  • @KayvaanMatos thumbs up if you hate responses like this.

  • who's the drummer? mark holcomb?

  • alright I don't give a fuck about the tuning anymore, so stop sending me messages

  • If I was a dj, I'd be called dj ent. That way, i would make djent songs about lord of the rings.

  • Hey man, are they coming out with a full length CD and if so when and where can i buy it?

  • this is drop C. take it from the guy who learned the majority of the song

  • @jojorage352 Well its Open C, rather than C in the key of D

  • It's drop C. Guitar Messenger says so! xD

  • I love this!!! I just FRICKING LOVE THIS!!! >: D

  • Djentcore

  • That is drop c flat. Its a half step down from c. The high gain throws the highs higher than it really it is.

  • @OhioGPhi1920 You do realize that C flat is really B.

  • @MrIKTPQ4life You do realize you can say poh-tay-toe or you can say poh-tah-toe. Same shit.

  • @Dissimulatex Whatever.

  • @Dissimulatex Except for the fact that c flat doesn't actually exist. You can spell fish as phish. That doesn't mean it's right.

  • @OhioGPhi1920 Drop C FLAT?Dude, don't You mean Drop B? :P

  • @ComfyNumb1989 I think it's the same thing?

  • @PathogenProductions Technically, but there's not really a tuning called "drop C flat".It's just called drop B.

  • @ComfyNumb1989

You are wrong, they are enharmonics.

  • @MrKylederp I just checked that out.That's interesting.

However, it's more commonly referred to as "drop B".

  • @MrKylederp Just because they are enharmonics doesn't mean they are interchangeable. Only under certain circumstances can you refer to it as Cb.

  • @calves92 It depends on what key you are playing. I was just saying that it can be called Drop C♭. I wasn't referring to written music. If the song was in the key of C♭-major I would definitely call it drop C♭ in that case. But, that key is a enharmonic of B major lol so it's up to the writer to say what key it's in.

  • one more time from the start 0:00

  • @chelu252 congratulations if it is him haha what a way to find an old friend =)

  • This is a quote from Elliot Coleman from SEA to Mark about this song

"Hey, Spencer and I are hanging out right now and we've decided we want to both do Immaterial together if thats cool with you? A nice little duet."

Mark responds with "Mark Holcomb as sure as a sure thing can be! like ray allen coming off a baseline screen at the 3 pt line. Speaking of which, can you guys write a song about NBA 2k11?.

so what does this mean? Spencer Sotello and Elliot Coleman Duet on this amazing HS song!

  • It has this djentle feeling at first and slaps you right in the mouth with a hand of awesome. None of that djeneric crap here!

  • 1:04 til 1:16 is like potatoe chips to my ears...

  • These guys don't use vocals ever?

  • @Toadoe7 i dont think so granted ive only heard like three other songs this is the first ive heard without vocals

in fact the songs they do vocals in it sounds like multiple people doing vocals

  • well, this is my new favorite instrumental of all time

  • i love how this music touches my ears so djently

  • @SiMMkillsAll: thumbs up for originallity!

  • one person doesnt love MUSIC.

  • Wasn't expecting that much when I clicked on the video. My mind is now blown by the amount of epic Djent-iness!

  • This song is badass, but can we please just call it metal or maybe progressive music? All these sub genres are gay as shit.

  • This is just great. Superb riffs, great accents and groove. Big fan of Haunted Shores now

  • Djent = The best thing since metal

  • @KoenZyxYssel I am sorry sir, but that title belongs to the McDonalds Bacon and Cheese Angus Burger.

  • 2:22 djently nicely

  • what tuning is this in?

  • @JesusWasADerelict drop awesome

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY thanks, thats really helpful

  • @JesusWasADerelict haha seriously though look up Mark Holcomb Guitar Messenger and he does some explanations on tuning and how to play quite a couple of Haunted Shores songs. There's also a link to the webpage with tabs and tuning.

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY thank you!

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY I think "drop awesome" was more than adequate, you should be thanked for your extra effort!

  • @JesusWasADerelict Djent isn't a genre it's a type of tuning I think? It's like Progressive technical metal with Djent tuning. Hope that helps? :L

  • @Theheavymetalscott djent isn't really a tuning dude... although djent tunings fall between normally drop b to g# or lower .. i wanted to know what tuning this song was in

  • @JesusWasADerelict Mehh i'm not really an expert so i don't think i could help D;

  • @JesusWasADerelict Djent is the onomatopoeia for the metallic chugging sound that you get when you palm mute a double octave power chord. And yes, this song is in Drop C.

  • @JesusWasADerelict

drop c is what he said in the guitar messenger videos

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY

    drop djent

  • @JesusWasADerelict Its in Drop C Dude. Go to guitar messenger's website. Mark Halcomb from Haunted shores has posted his tabs (as well as the video) for this song. Go check it out and have a blast! :)

  • @JesusWasADerelict all of his songs are in Drop C

  • @JesusWasADerelict

Sounds like Drop C. The low djents are definitely C. Maybe C standard.

  • @JesusWasADerelict it sounds like a seven string tuned normal

  • @JesusWasADerelict sounds drop B to me

  • @JesusWasADerelict Sounds like Drop C breh.

  • @JesusWasADerelict sounds to be c tuning i could be wrong but i dont believe to be

  • @JesusWasADerelict Drop C

  • @JesusWasADerelict Drop C buddy

  • @JesusWasADerelict its in Drop C :)

  • Meshuggah Black Metalcore! lol.

  • 3:24 - 3:52 Opeth vibes =)

  • i cant see mto find the tabs for any of there songs dont suppose you know of any tryed googling it but no luck

  • if you don't like this don't put thumbs down!!! just stick them in your ass !!!! that will help you better you ...... fuking..... britney spears fan :D:D:D:D

  • fucking nice!

  • I would really like to find everything just instrumental. The songs with vocals ruin it.

  • 3:24 Phone ring :D

  • if this played 24/7 , i would be just fine . thats the badest ass shit i ever heard !

  • so yeah, Casey Sabols doing vocals for this!!!!!!

  • 3:38 froggin bullfish riff, my favorite misha's riff of all

  • This is sick!

  • I couldn't stop hitting repeat to save my life.

  • @VoodooCreole If you like this then look up (Aurora- A New Order for an Ancient World) Legit Las Vegas technical death metal band. Guarantee youll enjoy it if you wanna listen to something BAHHMB!

  • definitley put this one on the album.

  • Whats djent?

  • @ArtificialFlavaFTB2 a term originally thought up by Fredrik Thordendal but used much more frequently by the band Periphery. It refers to the sharp chugging sound produced by the guitar. Think of a guitar making the sound DJENT DJENT DJENT DJENT.

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY yeah it's quite easy to define djent. You could describle it as sharp or bouncy guitar sound, different timing signatures are commonly used in djent too. I absolutely love it, above all other metal it just sounds so cool

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY

the technique comes from meshuggah, the word comes from misha mansoor

  • @itscurbe

Wrong. The technique was discovered by bands before Meshuggah, The term was simply "coined" by Meshuggah's guitarist.

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY Yeah don't let these fuckers tell you Mischa Mansoor made it, he only made the term popular. Fredrik created the term.

  • @Dissimulatex misha mansoor made it better..lol..sabbath were one of the first bands to play "metal"...but a million metal bands are better..same shit

  • @skwizzgar But we're talking about who created the term Djent, not who improved upon it. Djent is a word created by Fredrik, and Mischa took it and improved upon it. Although I hate Periphery and think there are much better djent and progressive bands, he definitely made it popular.

  • @Dissimulatex how could you hate periphery? thats horrible..

  • @skwizzgar Because they really aren't that good, and I think anyone who has their experience with progressive bands know that Mischa is the reason Periphery is even big. If he left no one would care about them.

  • @Dissimulatex Misha is an amazing song writer and guitar player though

  • @Dissimulatex define good.

  • @fromtheforestband good:

Adjective: To be desired or approved of.

Noun: That which is morally right; righteousness.

  • @Dissimulatex You should listen a little more carefully to the other instrumentalists. Matt Halpern is straight up ridiculous and Tom Bois, although he recently parted with the band, shreds right along side Misha. And any bass player needs to be solid to play such time focused music. I'm not saying you should like Periphery, but they deserve a little more credit than that. Their upcoming album(s) should tell all.

  • @saxmodeman88 you know his name is Alex Boise not Tom right....right lol

  • @KainVKail Hahaha man, I was real stoned. I used to have a neighbor named Tom Bois. That's just what my mind went to.

  • @Dissimulatex I don't think it's any secret that Misha IS the base of Periphery, but every other musician in the band is fucking amazing too, check out the studio updates they're putting out

  • @Dissimulatex if he left they also wouldnt sound as good lol

  • @Dissimulatex Well I really like Spencer but I think you're right. Actually now that I think of it, Halpern is a monster too, but yeah, Misha is the foundation.

  • Comment removed

  • @Dissimulatex misha did not improve anything!all he did was help other bands record and pretty much write riffs for them.Fredrik is way beyond the mind set up misha way beyond mishas human fredrick isnt hes something from another world!i know for a fact without no meshuggah none of these dumb fucks trying to make it now a days wouldnt been shit!

  • @robbec2012 That made no sense at all.

  • @robbec2012 The part of my brain which handles sentence structure and cohesion just died a little...

  • @Rabidbadger011

    Hahah

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY ONOMATOPOEIA!!!!!!

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY Oh, I get it. Kinda like when Beavis and Butthead say "Duh DUN DUN DUN...."

  • @WaffleCaress speaking of beavis and buthead, they are coming back to TV with a new season. true story.

  • @ArtificialFlavaFTB2 the shit. why do you ask?

  • @duhhh676 Lol, Ive been listening to djent all along and I never knew what it ment. Yes, it is the shit xD

  • @ArtificialFlavaFTB2 djent is more long the lines of when the rythem guitar plays a note the bass drum follows the rythem guitar instead of the bass gutiar is what I heard

  • @zctop Not even close.

  • Misha Mansoor also programmed the drums for Animals As Leaders, if you're curious.

Normally, that wouldn't be that big of a deal, but considering how good of a job he did at it, it's worth taking note of.

  • Their should be nomore Djent bands but this and Periphery

  • @Ishimira1 Are you kidding me?

  • @clockwerkkilla420 No im not kidding you..follow the leader

  • @Ishimira1 Meshuggah were the ones that used the time signature so often. Bands followed in that fashion and did a very good job manipulating that sound to their own formula. One band to name that are Meshuggah obsessors but don't play in the vain of meshuggah would be To-Mera, you should check them out.

  • @clockwerkkilla420 Yup Meshuggah incorporated the beginning..Alot of people dont kno that Mudvayne were one of the first as well..Listen to the time in their songs..They would throw it in their, but i respect your opinion =)

  • @Ishimira1 .... wrong. While Haunted Shores and Periphery are both REALLY REALLY good, they didn't invent the genre, check out Meshuggah, or Sikth, or any of the shitty 'TOP 10 DJENT BANDS" videos that are rampant all over my suggested videos. You can find some pretty incredible bands.

  • @tayloracantrell Haha very true that there were a few out before Periphery. As Bulb rose in reputation, the genre actually formed a definition. So Periphery and Haunted Shores may not have been the first, they definitely helped in defining the genre.

  • @JMHoughes I'm just recently coming into appreciation for this genre so I don't have a TON of arguing points or status in it's formation or anything, but thankfully I have had the exposure to some other great bands through those stupid videos :D

  • @tayloracantrell

I never said they invented the genre. Though I suppose djent technically isn't a genre, I consider it one.

Anyway, All I said was bulb and periphery gave it more definition. They expanded upon it far more than any other band.

and Yes I know about sikth and other such bands haha. Been lurking in the "genre" for quite a while.

  • Great stuff

  • i could mosh to this. this shit is bad ass

  • Comment removed

  • LIKE THIS VIDEO GODDAMNIT

  • This is a masterpiece.

  • this is great, ive come across you today. you totally own !!!

    im excited

    yey!!!

  • omg!! i'm a big fan of periphery so i definately like this! i really enjoy listening to bands like this!

  • Do you know where I can get their instrumental music from? I'm not a big fan of their vocals.

  • @BadReligion93 hold that thought. this band is going to have more than one vocalist. wait until the LP comes out before you make your final judgement on this band having vocals.

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY It's not specifically this band's vocals I dislike. I'm just not a fan of screaming/metal vocals.
