  • i like this tu shld post it in istructabes or some page to share haw to build one

  • Sorry but I didn't document the build. It is made of brass clock parts and plumbing parts. I did leave some build notes on my Flickr account. Thanks for the comment.

  • Please, could you tell me what the background song's called? What interpreter? I _must_ have it ;-)

  • Sorry, I forget. I'm pretty sure I got from the stock songs provided by You Tube. Getting old, memory fades... : )

  • that is so awsome. love the battery holder. awsome

  • Thanks! The top and bottom of the battery holder were pirated from the 1900 brass door knob plate. : )

  • GMS? Is it possible to get the design specs to build this please? I'd like to take a shot and build one of my own design too, if thats possible?

  • Sorry, I only have build notes on my Flickr account. See link under (more info). Thanks! : )

  • my god im so obsessed with old brass metal brass material like that, what are those metals anyways, is that what they are?

  • Yes, it is made mostly of solid brass or copper parts. Thanks! : )

    Open the FAQs link.

  • it's called google, use it

  • ...

  • ive always been strangely atracted to steampunk

  • ok so why did it say "dead" battery? does that mean it still works enough for the light as long as you have the magnets?!

  • Yes, the battery was discarded for recycling.

The Joule Thief circuit pulls additional energy from these "dead" batteries. Makezine called it "Precycling."

For more info see my Flicker account under About This Video.

The magnets have no function other than to make an electrical connection.

    Thanks for asking! : - )

  • Wow that was very cool. and the magnets are a great idea:)

  • Thank you!

  • Ive been trying to figure out who does this song for months now. They keep playing it on the radio and I cant pin it down.

  • An oldie but a goodie. "Tusk" by Fleetwood Mac.

  • +1 For the Fleet ;)

  • your a fraking cylon...

  • that is really cool. I like the use of lever and rods rather than just a simple lever. Really beautiful. Now all you need is a steampunk headset

  • Thanks!

My thoughts exactly. I've been looking for a vintage headset that I could mod.

  • Thought about modding one of the Thinkgeek bluetooth 'classic' Ma Bell handsets? Obviously something based on a still-older design would look much more fitting, but I don't know of any companies that put out something pre-rolled along those lines.

  • Thanks for the suggestion, TalensinBatBat. I'm almost done with my steampunk headset project. I'll post it when I finish. :)

  • Very creative! Great project.

  • Thank you!

  • Well done, Sir - I like it a great deal. Do you find that locating a ferrous suface for attachment is troublesome?

  • Thanks for the comment.

The piece is at my office...

where I'm surrounded by ferrous walls.
