  • Morels are cool, but this guy is a snake.

  • I picked and ate morels in northern Michigan and they are by far, my favorite. Now I'm in the Netherlands and I miss those morels sooooo much!!!!

  • WOAHH! daddy these are gonna make me tripp bawwls

  • Yeah, step one make some kids, step two take them morel hunting.

  • @mrno69 Have enough kids and you sit in the car while kids pick morels. Then take the suckers to McDonalds while you take the mushrooms.

  • You don't have to cut them , lol... just leave part of root, and use a potato sack to carry them in so the spores will fall out on the ground to grow more.

Love that the kids where finding them !

  • WOAH!!! Cute kids.

  • Cut them, don't pick them... Beautiful golden morels in this clip. I've only found the black, Morchella alata

  • Please tell me you didn't ruin those beauties with ranch dressing!!!

  • wow !! never seen these kinds of mushrooms :)

  • Nice..

  • thats what its all about! getting the next generation started.more people should introduce kids to this

  • Kinda looks like Kansas! The kids got me excited now.I'm getting dressed and going hunting right now! Thanks for the vid.

  • You have to cut the bases leave the Micaela on the dirt watch mushroom hunting with the dirt ball:)

  • The first one I found was a giant yellow. I had no clue what it was but was so impressed I had to get my dad. He quietly said, "grab your tackle box and pole and put them in the car......It is time you learned about morels". One of the tastiest lessons yet. Well worth the brambles and ticks. Thanks for posting, those "WOWs" really took me back.

  • Fun video! I rember as a kid doing the exact same thing.. seing one and then running like a bat out of hell. You live and learn I guess!

  • that was a good find

  • I love the kid's reactions in this! It reminds me of when I was little. The only mushroom my family ever hunted for was the chanterelle, I'll have to try something new now!

  • i live in washington and rly want to go shroomin for some morels, and was wonderin if u could give me sum advice on how i should go about doing it -RastaChinchilla

  • are morels psychadelic?

  • no they are just really good to eat. and some what frustrating to find. but it all pays off when you do

  • Mozart = Excellent choice of music. However, the text is nearly invisible and very difficult to read.

  • well i am morblar the mushroom god and yes i am quite displeased with the ranch dressing shot

  • I cut them with a pocket knife, so that the mycelium is undisturbed. Mushrooms will keep growing from it, its like the root of a plant. Went picking today actually! MMMmmmmMMM Morels!

  • also helps to use an old dive bag so the spores fall out as you carry them around. good call on the stem. my brother told me about that. good luck. we are still waiting for them in the mountains.

  • yeppers - buckets with holes drilled in them & old onion bags also work good. We dried a bunch outside last year & when the sunlight hit them they released all of their spores - it was beautiful - a big golden spore cloud above all the mushies! And afterwards, there was a neat spore design left on the screens.

  • I suck at finding morels :(

  • Thx gogreen I didnt know tapping them first would help to create more next year. I hope I find some this year I am 29 and still get as excited as the kids when finding some. Sweet I can't wait!!

  • Harvest respectfully please, when you find a morel mushroom tap it a few times before picking it so the spores will fall and make more later.

  • @gogreen3

    It doesn't make a difference.

A.) The mushroom has been constantly making spores since it emerged.

B.) Spores are released slowly when the mushroom is growing. "Tapping" wouldn't help unless the mushroom was partially dry.

  • @gogreen3 : you need to learn how mushrooms work before making comments like that my friend.

Think of a morel as the fruit of the underground organism, like an apple is the fruit of a tree, if you are suggesting to drop a few apple seeds every time you pick an apple, you see how silly this concept is.

A spore is essentialy a seed, it grows a new organism if it does anything at all, as an apple seed grows an apple tree......not an apple. The organism is everywhere all the time.

  • ah yes the great pecker head mushroom at 2:04

  • if that ranch dressing was going on the morels, the mushroom gods will be very angry.

  • i agree! its blasphemy!!!

  • yeah its definately fun to do on a nice spring day...man i remember when i use to get that excited over seeing a cluster of mushroooms

  • I can remember being like the kids,at the beginning

  • I'm still like the kids and i'm 29! :-)

  • Sweet!:)
