  • Before Manczarek started composing with, he had had some gigs as "Screaming Ray Daniel".

  • an Oz of hash would really be rough on the digestive system, hard to break down. lol he still probably had a hell'uva time. rip jim

  • jim was in hospital, he ate hachich..

  • love everyone saying what he had an didnt, fkng stupid

  • The band has good musicians, w/o JM, it's just a good band.

Not the fabulous 'THE DOORS'! ~.~

  • @inogi339 You sir are a fool, I love Jim morrison as much as the next doors fan but i think you are giving Manzarek a very underated opinion, Without Ray the doors would not exist or even if they did they would not be who they sound like at all bcuz rays style of organ/keyboard playing is so unique espially for its time period. Im not starting shit over youtube but you are not giving ray manzarek enough credit

  • @BakerBrett69 It’s a matter of opinions. I do not call you names if you fancy Manzarek or even Stone’s movie about The Doors for that matter, I could care less. I do recognize the quality of each individual of The Band as it used to be. Once again, I stick to my opinion, The Doors was a fabulous band with Jim Morrison, or else it’s not even The Doors, but a band with a good guitarist, and a good keyboard player. Case closed.

  • screaming ray daniels!

  • whitout jim is hardly thinkable

  • PLEASE!! from what concert is the footage where Ray laughs and plays around 2:32 ?

  • @Lavourah

This aint fake man. Jim took to many shrooms in amsterdam and passed the fuck out.

    He didnt play in amsterdam.

  • 0:22 GIANT DONUT!!!!

  • WHAT A VIDEO FAKE

  • this is when there were touring with Jefferson Airplane.

  • good but????

  • lol hes not that bad of a singer

  • Comment removed

  • do you have the break on through version sung by manzarek?

  • doors without Jim makes a pointless concert cause their music was just average, the interest came from the shamanic experience...

  • @itnow it's not pointless, it's still great music, as they are all great musicians. But you're right, it doesn't have the feel that Jim brought to the table, like many say, "the shamanic experience." I just think he was really charismatic

  • wowsa!!

  • God, man. See at 2:30 Manzarek rules!

  • Six shit`s dont like the doors, and love Bieber!!! What a world gentlemen...

  • ray is incredible he's mulit tasking haha

  • I have a friend, his aunt told him that she went to this concert of the doors in amsterdam in 1968 but jim was not performing that night coz he was passed out from drink and drugs.

  • @AakwardAardvark theres no way he would have said light my fire. thats their most popular song most artists hate playing there most popular songs.

  • @Bodomterror696969 that's exactly what i thought i was extremely surprised however you can not just say that you know that because that is indeed what he said. Dont assume bro, just because an artists song is popular means they hate playing it, i was expecting some obscure Doors song, but no he told me light my fire.

  • @AakwardAardvark i have met steven tyler, nikki sixx, i met the guitarist from blue oyster cult. none of them said their popular songs. how old ru anyway bro?

  • @Bodomterror696969 im 14 im sorry but you're just wrong come here to Napa California and ask him yourself then you will see :)

  • @AakwardAardvark i know your lying your a damn poser in his book he said he dreaded it

  • @Bodomterror696969 haha im telling the truth its funny how badly you don't wanna believe it perhaps he even lied to me but that is exactly what he said here come to napa california go to his house, it's down the street over a small bridge, to the left, from mine, it medium sized go knock on his door and say hey this 14 year old kid says that you said light my fire was your favorite song is that true? oh btw i am actually in a music video with him for a local band if you want the link.

  • @AakwardAardvark yes i actually do.

  • OMG WAS THAT A GIBSON SG?!?!

  • For Ray to sing, while playing keyboard, and then bass on keyboard is amazing. One of the most underrated musicians of all time IMO.

  • My first thought: "Alright, Amsterdam. Jim's gonna be fucked up." Sure enough, too fucked up. This is one reason I love The Doors. Jim's totally wasted? No matter. They still put on a good show.

  • Good job Ray! You, Robby and John are a class act. I miss you all badly. When are you coming to Jacksonville Florida?!?!?!

  • Good job Ray. You, Robby and John are a class act. I miss you all badly. When are you coming to Jacksonville Florida?!?!?!

  • youtube.com/watch?v=rpRom2mQAoA

  • Jim ate a thumb nail sized piece of hash and past out on stage. so thats why Ray took over on vocals.

  • ok this is the day jim got sent to hospital after goin overboard on pills, ray saved the day, hello i love you was next on the list

  • @guitarnashelter It wasnt pills, Grace Slick (vibrato crazy chick from Jefferson Airplane) Gave him a chunk of hash to try and he said "I dont have time to smoke it" so he ate it....then Ray said he watched him lean against the wall and slowly slide down to the floor

  • @smurfman95 ok il go with that,i heard from grace slick [doors in europe dvd?]that people were just handing him all sorts of pills n things and he would just knock em back while she would say thanks,il try it later

  • @guitarnashelter I read somewhere online that He was given random things on the streets and took them all as well but in an interview That Ray said it was the big chunk of has tht Grace gave him to smoke but he just muched it bk then Ray said he watched him slide down the wall and they took him to the hospital and went on with the show

  • Ray manzarek, one of the best musicians to ever live

  • HALLELUJAH! A video where in the comments section people aren't stuck at sucking Jim's cock and are giving credit to the other members of the band! The Doors were the four members, and all of them very talented. If Robby, Ray or John eventually got dead before Jim they'd have much more credit, just like Morrison has.

  • Ray manzarek lives a tenth of a mile from me and the doors were one of the greatest bands ever, im in a music video with him its called Body or Brain Be what you can be, its a pretty bad music video though

  • I just read the Ray Manzarek book Light my Fire. I was floored!!

  • Every single member of the doors was brilliant, Jim just got most of the credit caus he was the lead singer and his looks ofcourse..

Lead singers always get more attention becaus they can litterly speak to their audience which for most people is more easy to understand then the language of organ, guitar,...

But I think once you understand those languages 2, you see that they were all amazing in their own way :)

    RIP jim.

  • This happend a few times, Jefferson Airplane was on tour with The Doors they would take turns opening and ending with each other. Grace Slick sang for The Doors for a whole concert with Ray Manzarek

  • HI.

    Iam 14 years old:D

The Doors are creat I was there with his

    and I live in Netherlands

  • I'm from holland, I'm 14

I REALLY WANTED TO SEE THIS:O:O:O!

  • Wow pretty good, and the sounds crap...ha ha ...unless that's helping

  • is there any other example of this event? a band playing without a member -hard to call jim "a member"- at the last minute? he sung the whole set! it's incredible, true legend. what's funny is that night jim appeared on stage with jefferson airplane who played before them but not with the doors :). thx for the upload

  • jim turned out to be so sick because of all the drugs he did in amsterdam.

they had to clear his stomach thats probably why he couldnt sing

  • I think Manzarek was The Doors XD he played with the band:

    organ

    piano

    bass

    guitar

    drums

    marxophone!

    sitar

    and sing!!!

    dude! Manzarek was The Doors!!

  • ray manzarek is the brains of the doors he didnt sell out

  • He ate a whole bunch of hash, drank and did about every other drug offered to him in Amsterdam...This is why he was sick and had to goto the hospital...RIP Jim :-) I Love You Man!

  • @dannyaingefan He actually had a bag of hash with him before he got on the plane to go to Amsterdam and forgot about it til he was inline at the airport and had to down the whole bag before going through security. At the concert, Jefferson Airplane went on before them and he got onstage and performed with them til he passed out lol

  • Comment removed

  • They do well without JIm Morrison here, but lets be completely honest they are not much without him.

  • @justinhead27 the audience had the option of giving back their money or the other three Doors played the songs, and the audience just loved 'em!!

  • Yes

  • Jim did not perform because he had eaten a whole barr of marihuana before the concert ( in Amsterdam) , and because of that he passed out during the Jefferson Airplane gig.

  • @zw75ned Yeah haha I heard they were like "Man, we gotta get rid of this before we cross the border!" and Jim swallowed the whole thing.

  • Em he ate magic mushrooms {psychedelic}

  • @srekazinskas ; no he did not

  • Jim was one of the best song/ poetry writers in history. At least in my mind

  • if you actually read the jim morrison bioagraphy about the doors as well jim met ray and ray new jonh and robby as they formed the doors and ray gets alot of credit man so does everybody in the band if they all werent together it just wouldnt be the same dude and i loving tripping face on acid haha

  • Ray Manzarek is absolutely amazing and never gets enough credit. What he brough to the table is what helped make The Doors different than any other band.

  • @Peacefrog35 these 3 Doors make a decent rock band and I prefer the drummer myself

but frankly what 'make the Doors different from any other band' was Jim's poetry and shamanism provided by a unique voice

  • @Peacefrog35 ??? he was voted best musician one year in his time with the doors... thats a pretty good recognition... people just dont recognize his accomplichments and apraisals.

  • @Peacefrog35

you right ma' man.....Mazarek kicks ass! he had the vision of the Doors.....he started the game....

  • @luuzifa I can only agree, at the Moment, I am reading his book about the doors, his youth and how the doors were formed... exciting!

  • OK now, so Ray is playing organ, he's playing bass, and now he's singing....what talent.....its almost hard to believe that Jim was raved to be more talented than the rest of the doors. All in all he was probably the least talented....he had an amazing voice and great looks, everyone else had to work really hard to be that good, but Jim was just naturally amazing.

  • a think that at that point, everything came easy to them as well, just my opinion

  • Jim also wrote amazing lyrics, that is part of what made him stand out

  • @koriepfrank when it comes to the doors there is no individual competition because the doors are an individual force itself that as a whole effects everything the fans of the doors stand for...

  • @koriepfrank It's because Morrison represents the world in a larger scale. He touched people wher they don't understand they exist. He's subliminal. He changed biblical metaphors to modern metaphors = "streets are fields that never die"... Notice in the bible characters died in fields, murdered, etc... He set metaphorical change. Streets are where our souls are swept, by the shadows in the trees whispering in the breeze (the raven by edgar allen poe).

  • Unfortunately he wasn't one of us, but of those under the purple dome, killing us. Our souls. Shipping us off in blue buses when the end is calling us. Ingenius unfortunately... He taught you how to spilt your mind in bi-polar hypnotic car wrecks. When we're left out to wander, searching here and there for a friend.... Fawk, I hate him and admire his genius. Ray played the keyboard.

  • @koriepfrank and also directing the band

  • @koriepfrank Jim was their shamanistic leader providing a path to walk down. The other 3 members of the band are rather tame and modest, whereas Jim provides the star power to get them noticed and draw you in. Ray is my favorite as well, though.

  • @koriepfrank

I agree with everything you said except about Jim. Jim was not only a good looking guy(no faggot here) but he was a good lyricist and singer.

  • @koriepfrank Morrison initially couldn't sing, and was mortified of performing before an audience of any size, often choosing to stand with his back to the crowd for the entire set. At first he was not considered a legitimate lead singer by the other members of the group. He had to work to become a better singer and showman, the latter of which he excelled mightily. Morrison brought this showman's charisma, which popularized the doors, and allowed the talents of the other members todisiminate

  • @koriepfrank but he also wrote the lyrics which are very deep and meeningful

  • @koriepfrank did you ever hear the albums after jim died? they suck there weird jim was talented, they all were very talented but jim was the most im my personal opinion.

  • @koriepfrank You didn't mention that Jim wrote most of the lyrics to The Doors music. I don't recall people saying that Jim was more talented than the rest of them; he just got the most attention. Their combined talent made them a great band.

  • Ray Manzarek is the shit, man. I thought that was drunk Jim the first time around.

  • 15/09/1968 Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, Holland (2 concerts)

  • jim couldnt play because he passed out from spinning around too fast during "Plastic Fantastic Lover" during he Airplane set.

  • They played without Jim because he had to go to the hospital because he was tripping a bit too hard :)

  • Well, My alias me (rvdb) was there actually - for the concert of The Jefferson Airplane that was just before, so I didn'd mind at all.Anyway I would have never gone there if it was for the Doors. They were not very important to me and very commercial. I fail to see the 'special' thing in Morrison. That's how it is. The JA were superb. It was my best concert.

  • Mmm I can understand you don't like the doors, everyone has different tastes in music, but I'm afraid I disagree with you about the doors were commercial, what about the end? people are strange? when the music's over? break on through? and more...even light my fire may not have the best lyrics but the solos were amazing!! I like Jefferson Airplane too anyway.

  • GeankDOORS all of those are from the first album... they did get commercial... or ray did, making that las vegasy sound that almost ruined many songs for me!!

  • nice, thanks~

  • The Rod Serling of Rock n Roll!

  • rofl ofcourse jim didnt feel well,

I bet amsterdam was his heaven.

    Coffeeshops on every corner.!

  • This is cool. Ray does a great job.

  • how cheated must they feel in the audience?

  • Wow!

    This is rare.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks 4 uploading - let's have a bit more, please

  • FANTASTIC VIDEO 5 STARS

  • nice job man

  • welcome the doors for ever
