  • Great music, great video , a ton of thanks.

  • beautiful song...........well deserving of a Grammy :)

  • Great Vid and Awesome track , Back to the Golden Age of Music the 70s !

    thanks fo the Upload !

  • Prefiero la original.

  • I remember listening to this as a little girl. My Dad had the album. Mesmerizing!

  • This song is a surrealist painting.

  • Satisfação em ser brasileiro!!!!!! só por isso!!!!!

  • ...the film was life changing...

  • Best imaginable presentation of this Masterpiece of Deodato.

    Thanks.

  • Eumir Deodato is great! That was what happened when some of the talented Brazilian guys moved to EUA in search of the best black music of that time. Both countries are very similar in termos of musical roots, both are highly influenced by black music, I would say that Brazil, EUA and Cuba are the countries that took the maximum results from their black musical backgrounds. It's about time to promoting such fusion of international music like people did in the 70-es.

  • BEYOND AWESOME! I bought the 45 of this back around 1973. It was phenomenal then and it's still phenomenal now. Nice video here, too. But I have a question for anyone out there who's scientifically minded. How come whenever we see films and videos taken out in space by satellites or the shuttle, there are never any stars or other celestial bodies visible? It's just total blackness. Yet even from the ground we can see hundreds of stars. Makes me think sometimes that it's all fake (lol)!

  • @JohnnyS001 that's because of the brightness of object in the foreground (space shuttle, earth) they reflect the sunshine very heavily so the camera won't register the dim light of distant stars due to the contrast effect

  • @unbornanddeathless Interesting. Thanks for your reply. I kind of wish NASA would release some actual, undoctored photographs taken the other way, though, instead of always having the cameras aimed at the Earth. I'd like to see what's out there.

  • Oh yeah!!!! I heard this used on channel 4's Misfits when one of the characters teleports for the first time and had to find it!

  • Still wonderful, I bought this single 1972 in Stockholm. The other day I just felt like listening to it. It took me 45 minutes to find this version because of the fact that I could not remember Mr. Deodato's name. Shame on me! Here it is, with a stunning space- video to make everything evan more interesting! I have been sending this video out to all my friends and they just love it! Thank you one more time for letting us know what a wonderful musician and composer you really are! Love~Maria.

  • Wonderful piece

  • G R E A T ! ! !

  • also

  • If you think this is amazing, try listening to Richard Strauss' version...

  • @risrosen that is difficult as he never recorded it. Although I suppose you could listen to some others interpreting it.

  • I love that single coil guitar tone

    Anyone know who's on guitar/

  • Reminds me of the band Lemon Jelly.

  • thanks ever so much for posting this. i've been trying to remember for YEARS now who did this version, and simply trying to remember this version in and of itself. phenomenal music! you made my day!!!! ;-D

  • this song is so epic

  • ¡¡ QUÉ BUEN ROYITO!!

  • I drove 40,000 miles through the U.S. in 1973/1974 and this tune

was my theme song in the car.

Trip started in NJ and went through the Rockies, Pac NW, Mendocino, and SF.

Then I turned around and visited everybody I met on the way out.

Played my flute, sax, and fiddle in local bands the whole way.

    Great Life experience.

    Selmer

  • Magnificent!

  • PERFECT

  • Be careful listening to this song if you are driving a car, especially if the car can go fast. Just trust me on this. Pretty soon you'll find yourself doing 90+ miles per hour and wondering "How the hell did I get doing this fast." This is an amazing work of musical art. Muchisimo gracias, Maestro!

  • Wicked!! Thanksyou :)

  • I could watch this over and over again. Wonderful arrangement of video clips.

  • the more I listen...the better it gets

  • @BigSnook26

    I agree !

  • Anyone knows the version of this with some kind of lyrics ? A guy's voice, pretty much familiar, that narrattes something about the universe, the man, etc. ?

    Thanx

  • truly the maestro of our time..... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS ONE GOD BLESS YOUR HEART BRO.

  • The maestro, indeed! Glad you enjoyed the vid. And thank you for your kind words. God bless you too, my friend.

  • Sonic Quality, Sound staging is what true audiophiles aim for. Don't jerk the public off with your You Tube Peep-show BLASTING your new stereo hooked to a TV? WHaddya trying to do? Re-enact a rock concert(all that noise)? Set speakers 8 feet apart than barstool yourself into the center 8 feet back . Close your eyes and listen to the equipment disappear and the artist will be revealed. Study Soundstaging - Not Blasting !

  • I live a Block West of the Boathouse from Kenosha Harbor. Ghetto ,racy, biker neighborhood, BUT, I live in the single-story extension of a 2-story parish house landlocked from St. Elizabeth. MY SLiding Glass door faces NORTH into 10 acre parking lot and there's no one above/below ME! My Stereo is jacked to my INternet PC You Tube and I FLY ALL NIGHT!!!!! I use and ONKYO 6-channell Receiver & 3 PAirs of Old Rock Monitors. Can't miss much with this set-up.

  • Bill Cobham on Double Bass Drum Set. Deodato - Ive got the Quadraphonic LP. You should hear what a Pioneer Amp does to this record!

  • I can well imagine. Awesome, surely.

  • @jgiallor This makes me miss the Space Shuttle al over again. And what model of Pioneer Amp do I need? xD

  • Uno de los grandes musicos del Brasil.

Compositor extraordinario y arreglador de otro planeta !

    Puro talento ...

  • I heard this one morning driving into work while listening to a smooth Jazz station, it totally brightened my morning. So glad I found it again!!!!!

  • Glad you did. Enjoy.

  • "Mr Gardener, do you remember the message?"

  • One Sabbath, a man fell from a well-sweep and broke his leg. Do you remember the temple that the brahmins ordered a tile roof to be made for?

  • yes I`M HUNGRY - THIS MUSIC incredibile - fantastic

  • this could easily be an outtake from "In a Silent Way"

  • Indeed. The connection to jazz fusion, however, is apparently by way of Hubert Laws, the great jazz and classical flutist, not John McLaughlin. Deodato and Laws collaborated during the Zarathustra period (early 70s).

  • agree

  • Magnificent. A brilliant, moving marriage of music and video. Bravo to the creator.

  • The creator is Toyokit. And this truly is his best vid. Kudos. Toyokit.

  • LOVE the funky guitar work at about the 5:55 mark that goes to a little past the 7 minute mark.

  • sounds Mclaughlin-esque

  • first time i heard it was in 1999 when i was only 11. Since that it's one of my favorite, amazing music.

  • So do I!

  • You're very welcome.

  • This has ALWAYS been one of my favorites. It's a great lil jam. Thanks for posting.

  • Aha! It wasn't accepting my reply 'cause I had Toyokit's channel address. You'd think the people at YouTube would at least give you a message explaining the policy instead of just clamming up. Thx for being so thoughtful, YT.

  • great jam. thanks for posting

  • You're welcome. Enjoy.

  • YO! GREAT VIDEO, GREAT EVERYTHING! If they had 10 stars, i'd give ya the entire 10 because that is the best video I've seen in such a long long time!

  • Thank you. But the credit is due to Toyokit, who crafted the outstanding video. The reason I mirror it on my channel is because I don't want to lose it. I've had the unpleasant experience, several times now, of having a favorite vid removed by the owner. Don't want to chance losing this gem.

  • I want to thank you for responding back about the whirlwinds album

  • Thank you for your note. Very kind of you.

  • On his talk show, radio's Mark Christopher was talking about the music scene in 1973. He said that the quality of music was down that year. In other words, a lot of the songs were wimpy. Agree or disagree? Feel free to reply. By the way, being a wrestling fan, I will always associate this with Ric Flair. He used this as his entrance music.

  • Don't remember too well the quality of music in 1973 exactly, but I do think music in the 70s and 80s tended to be better than most of the stuff we have now. At least Deodato helped out with this song in 1973.

  • True. Before MTV really took off, singers and bands had to toil for it all. And they probably got cheated out of the night's gate, too. There was no pre-packaged nonsense like American Idol. I mean, the USA is in pretty bad shape when more people vote for the next Idol instead of voting in November.

  • played this groups albums for hours,, looking for one song hard to find called whirlwinds

  • I've been searching for Whirlwinds all over the Internet, and so far, nothing. Bummer.

  • ive still got that lp!!

  • Good video! Wow! I love this song...thank you!

  • You're very welcome. This song is truly something else.

  • It is, love it! Thanks!

  • You guys are creative and informed.

    great job

  • Thx for the kind words. Much appreciated.

  • Wow, that's some good stuff there. Great rendition of a great song and a nifty video to go with it. Thanks for the upload.

  • You're welcome. It is a great song, Deodato's finest. Glad you enjoyed it.

    el video. very nice video.

  • I remember to listen it in "Being There" with the great Peter Sellers as Chance/Chauncey Gardiner.

    Thanks for upload!

  • You're welcome. Glad you liked it.

  • very good x3
