Lions, Tigers, Jaguars, and Leopards have been known to kill crocs/gators/caimens. But that is usually on land. It just depends on if the animal is in the water or not.

Florida black bears have been known to kill 16 foot long alligators in Florida. And as for that jaguar in this video, that wasn't a croc, it was a caimen. Caimens live in the jungles and crocs live in savannahs.

First off the Lion is undoubtedly a much tougher animal. The Jaguar fought a swamp lizard or small alligator while the lion attempted to attack a Nile Crocodile who are probably the toughest crocodiles there are. Not a good comparison. Sorry....

@chonyc77 It wasn't a small lizard nor an alligator. Jaguars only live in the Amazon where there are no gators. That was a black caiman. Meanwhile, the toughest croc is the Orinoco, not the Nile.

well i have heard hyenas actually have a stronger pound for pound bite then all the cats so not sure about that Jaguar thing. Just the same though I think in nature anything is possible. I think any of the big cats could mortally wound another even if it was the under dog. But percentagewise usually the bigger cats will win. A dominant Male lion and a tiger i would call about even because i have seen videos of those fights go both ways. Of course it comes down to temperment to.

this video does not prove that a jaguar would destroy a lion lol. First off i have seen videos where jaguars shy away from crocs after the croc snaps a few times as well as footage of a lion killing a croc. There are no garauntees in nature Fact is that a jaguar is more on par with a leopard in terms of size and strength and 99 out of 100 times when a leopard and lion have a confrontation the leopard winds up dead and the jag would have the same fate.The underdog can win but bigger cat win most

@dansw58 The jaguar def aint the same as a leopard. Jaguars are ALOT bigger and Stronger. Plus they have the strongest bite force on land proportioned to their body size. But still with all that being said i still agree with u, no way could a jaguar beat a lion in a fight. And as far as a Tiger no cat on earth could challenge it. The only thing that COULD defeat a Tiger is a Polar Bear. Nothin else would even challenge an 800lb male Siberian Tiger

a jaguar is HALF the size of a lion or tiger. Besides, most animals don't kill unless it's food. the jaguar was killing a CAIMAN, which is smaller than american alligators which are much smaller than african crocs! Someone else also pointed, female lions hunt....male lions defend. So if a lion is going to kill a croc, which it wont waste that energy unless it is hungry and has no other source of food, it will be a male lion. Not much different between a lion and tiger though.
