I think the flashbacks of John's origin as Jigsaw in part IV are some of the best moments in the movies. Tobin Bell is a wonderful actor. If you watch how subtle he is as this character...and this scene in particular. He's a total NUT murderer who TRULY think's he's not.

Jigsaw never kills anyone. His "victims" are his "patients". His believe is that "Those who do not appreciate life do not deserve life." So he gives peoples test's and games to see if they truly value their lives.
