balagury Latvian? They are mother fucking ruskis... Dude y'know calling anything russian Latvian or Latvian russian is a fucking major insult... Who gives a fuck if they might be from Latvia (i dunno) they are still russian, they sign in russian, and their album art is in russian.
@LVshrapnelLV Yeah, it's kind of insulting to have Russians claiming our lands with folk metal. Considering their history here begins only after WWII. Not to mention their pseudo-historic books written by their pro-Kremlin party members, where they claim mysterious heritage in our lands. What an insult!
I may say Lithuania is the most nameable between these because they have such bands like Anubi (that I really like) and from this top 10 list also the Lithuanian ones have the best sound IMO.
Well, I have to admit that I don't really know anything about these enigmatic, quiet Baltic countries, and their metal scene is even more unknown, that's why I've also tried to discover it for myself in the past, but unfortunately I had't found anything really interesting, Skyforger is decent, but nothing really special, surprisingly all the Estonian bands I've heared play very monotonous and disturbingly simple music.
Skyforger is my favourite band. It's certainly the best band in Latvia. I've seen them live 5 times including one acoustic folk gig. I've seen Metsatöll twice. They're awesome too.
I saw Metsatöll on friday in Sheffield, they were supporting another band but they were a thousand times better. One of the most intense sets I've ever been to, I wish they played for longer. The other two bands of the night sucked.
!!!! Skyforger !!!!!

@Lachausis Yeah. Hey, folklover, I wouldn't actively make this kind of mistake. The Baltic nations are fierce in their independence from Russia.
Personally, I prefer Estland and Metsatöll is one of my favourite bands.
