  • What a complete and utter joke. Jesus died only against the forces of injustice? Where is the gospel, Don? Jesus died for our sins because we are filthy creatures who need redemption! What a two-faced sorry excuse for a "Christ-follower" - I don't even think he's following the right Jesus. Don Miller, take heed, because the Lord will spit you out of His mouth.

  • "Father will you restore our moral standing in the world? Alot of people don't like us but that's because they don't know the heart of the average American."

"Forgive us for our apathy"? Huhhhh???

"Our moral standing with the world", "our apathy"? How about, "Father forgive us for being a sinful nation that has shown blatant rebellion against your statutes. Please be merciful and spare your wrath upon our foolish disobedience."?

  • I'm a Republican and I don't necessarily agree with Donald Miller on all political issues. However, I think this was a great prayer and what a blessing for the Democratic Convention.

As opposed to the "American Prayer" video that seems to pray to Obama. This is a great sincere prayer to God. I like Donald Miller even if we don't agree with everything, but we agree on the essentials of the faith. He is my brother in Christ.

  • You have to be a pastor to pray? You have to be a pastor to be against corporate gluttony? Holy smokes, what part of this prayer did you miss? Maybe he should've prayed for uptight youtube commenters.

  • The guys not even a pastor lol... AND HE'S LEADING A PRAYER! God is prolly pissed right now.

Just one of the most spiritual writers in the faith.

And has biblical themes... It's not like "pure christianity is helping orphans and widows." ... don miller and james must be stupid.

Corporate gluttony thats the issue. IS THE ISSUE. jesus says over and over, sell everything and give to the poor. In acts they do just that. Acts 2 and 4... why? "and noone lacked anything."

  • All throughout the old Testament, god is saying the blood of the poor is on the hands of the greedy and rich.

Infact, early christian writers taught if someone else dies because they did not have food, and you have extra, you ARE guilty of murder. Maybe that's why jesus said it's easier for a camel to go through a needle than a richman get into heaven. You can't live in luxory in a world of poverty and be a christian. It's greedy, atleast acording to ppl like clement of rome, polycarp and Jesus

  • Since prayers and political agenda are both expressions of values and beliefs it would be impossible to not "push" an agenda as you say.

Which "agenda" are you against? care for widows and orphans? good schools? poverty? unity? civil dialogue? protection from enemies? I'm not sure what you could possibly dislike here.

  • amen, meade...

some of these comments make me wonder if christians have EVER read the Old Testament prophets!

care for the widows!!! gasp! being a prophetic voice against greed and economic injustice!!!! shock!!!

  • well said

  • Right Jesus wasnt political.

    "you have heard it said:

eye for an eye now turn the other cheek... love your enemys, PRAY FOR THOSE WHO PERSECUTE YOU, told the rich to sell everyhting and give to the poor. Stopped an excecution and was killed because he started a kingdom, a new govt. Plus all those ppl praying... its awesome.

  • Finally...the Republican Party will see a more complete side of the Democratic Party: their faith. This gives me hope for the party.

  • Excellent prayer. Full of Biblical themes and very important issues for our country. I pray with him.
