There is another way to make a Stamina "arena"

Make a square or rectangle in which you want the characters to fight in, and put spikes on the top row

Well, I guess it depends on what you like in a stage. Personally, I enjoy having a lot of little strategic points to fight over and corners to try and back my opponents into. A lot of people like simple arenas with mostly flat space, which I understand. I like to believe my more complex stages make people think. ;)
