  • I noticed in the description that this camcorder is Apple compatible. I would i be able to use it on my Pear?

  • Thank you so much!!! I just bought one after returning a Sony, which was a poor specimen with even worse software. I don't know why Canon doesn't offer a tour of the camera like this - it's way better than reading the manual, though of course that is important.

  • whats the auto web button for?

  • what video format does this camcorder use?

  • @WAXstudios the format is AVCHD.

  • @meyouandthepiggies Two key differences are 8 megapixel still versus 2 megapixels and the included flash on the HF S30. The R21 is more of a budget model whereas the HF S30 is viewed as much more professional in capabilities.

  • What's the difference between this and Canon VIXIA HF S30?

  • Sorry, I didn't quite understand. What format does it shoot in and can I switch to other formats if I choose?

  • could i put a fisheye on that?

  • @xXzerosk8er4lifeXx Yes you can, I think you have to buy an adapter filter though.

  • I may be getting this camera tomorrow, I did my research... I had a Canon GL-1 and JVC Everio in the past, sold both. This camera has good reviews from Amazon and other sites.

  • someone please tell me! what video format does it use> (ex: .mov or .m4a???) thanks

  • @AFMvideoproductions m4a probibly

  • Thanks for the review.

  • Best review of this camera on youtube. Thank you so much !

  • Can someone please message me and tell me how to import onto my mac? Thank you

  • @AwesomeFilm101, you would have to try that with the camera--too technical a question without actually giving it a go.

  • @FilmingIsMyLife, I don't know if you can attach a fisheye on it--sorry.

  • @thereturningcow, both are quite nice although I don't own the Sony and haven't had one to conduct a physical comparison. Each does well based on their specifications although the Canon has more internal memory and the Sony has a bit more ability from an optical zoom perspective. I don't know if the Sony is Mac-compatible and that would be my only concern as a Mac user.

  • Right now I am torn between canon hf r21 and the Sony HDR cx160... Which do you think is better?

  • Can you attach a fisheye on it? PLEASE reply!

  • @FilmingIsMyLife yes you can i have one on mine

  • Has anyone else have some framerate problems? I been recording with this here and there but my videos seem to drop frames on and off. I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem?

  • is the HD file type compatible with windows movie maker?

  • Question/// I was wondering what this camera's output (file extension) is? ex: is it mpg, avi, mpeg ect..? Also i was wondering how long your battery lasts on your highest quality setting. And just one more question, if you only use on board memory, do they supply you with a cable for file transport to computer?

  • @parkwaydrive59x I just got one today. The battery lasts two hours and you can store 8 hours of footage on the built in memory, and it's always set on 1080p, you cant change it.

  • @parkwaydrive59x The Vixia HF R21 records in AVCHD with an .MTS extension--most video editing programs readily use this format and it's also immediately uploadable to video sites. The battery is good for 45 to 50 minutes of recording time per charge and provides a little over 2 hours of playback before needing to be recharged.

  • @DogWood678 the Vixia HF R21 is compatible with iMovie '11. Some have expressed mixed results depending on recording frame rate. I haven't had any issues with my Macbook Air and iMovie '11.

  • awesome review!! I'm looking into buying this camera for my videos, and I'm happy someone has a real review on youtube

  • The CX130 has a stronger zoom spec than the HF R21 but the lack of microphone input and Mac incompatibility are problems for me. The lack of on board memory with the Sony is surprising. Canon's continuous recording from the flash memory to SD memory cards is also a big plus. The additional Canon features seems to be a better trade for what the Sony provides in wide angle lens capability although the Sony is a solid camera.

  • Nice. I am thinking about picking one up, however, I'm also looking at the Sony CX130 only because of it's included wide-angle lens. I like this Canon and the 32gb included memory and 2-slot expandable memory and the external mic input, however there are wide angle lens attachments avail for this Canon, but at 200$ that is unattractive. What are your thoughts?

  • The largest SDXC cards that are currently available are 48 and 64 GB cards. 2 TB cards are theoretically possible but not yet available or use. They will likely be too expensive to be practical given the prices for the large cards presently available.
