I've always been told that if you wouldn't drink the beer or wine then you shouldn't cook with it.

I'm not a fan of dark beer, could an ale work as well or would it have a negative effect on the flavor/texture of the beans?

i can make these very quick without most of those ingrients.

1st u cook some baked beans then u put in sum bbq sauce then u stir then u put in your mouth then you chew then u swallow.

If so, how long should I cook them? 8-10 hours on the slow setting?

You could absolutely use a slow cooker. I would agree with you, probably about 8-10 hours on the low setting.

Hi Scott..What can you use besides the beer? Can you use Liquid Smoke?  What do you suggest?

If you did not want to use beer to deglaze with you could use 1 cup of Apple Juice or 1 cup of water mixed with a little liquid smoke... be careful a little goes a long way.
