Thanks for commenting. We took hiked the North Fork of the Blackfoot to the Dry Fork Divide, so nope. didn't get all the way. Mosquitos were fierce and relentless, and bug spray is only a fifteen minute solution before you need to reapply. I'm from the east coast and I've never seen bugs so aggressive. Elevation gain was challenging, and was the most difficult heading up to Limestone and Camp Pass. We saw a sow and two cubs but they scampered away from us before we got a good look at them.
@sogellag2004 Montana and Alberta had higher-than-normal snow pack which melted all at once, very late in the season (they were still plowing the highway through Glacier National Park in July!). This resulted in heavy flooding, which I think would explain the bad bugs you experienced. Those kind of bugs aren't normal for the area!

Nice. Forest Service says trail goes to the headwaters of the Blackfoot. Did you get there? How were the bugs and elevation gain?
