The reason MMA > boxing right now has nothing to do with the sports themselves, it's the scumbag promoters and system behind boxing. 300 weight classes, 14 different organizations giving belts and top fighters refusing to fight each other.
In the UFC, Pacman vs Mayweather not only would have happened by now, but we'd probably have had a rematch as well.
If you want to fix boxing, you need to fix the system that runs it. The sport itself is fine.
@bfmyac bro when the fuck did i call mma gay? You got ur shit twisted, all i said was you guys just watch all the gay fights...(talking about gay "Boxing" fights). Re-read my first post and think for a minute.
@manny45629 yeaa the first post says "boxings tight, i guess you guys just watch all the gay fights" sounding like your saying :boxing tight, and MMA's gay because they're on eachother more. you dumb ass READ your own post before posting it!!! that's what I thought when i saw it then I saw the rest of your dumbass comments
You can't compare boxing to MMA. It's two completely different sports, a boxer would destroy a MMA fighter in boxing and an MMA fighter would own the ground game in an MMA match. Neither is "worse" than the other, there is just different rules and styles to each sport.
@ironman145614 That is because he "trained" in both sports, I agree that if a boxer took time to learn ground moves and submissions and if a MMA fighter learned to box then they could be deadly, however that is not what I said. I merely showed that each is a different sport and if you either doesn't train for that sport then the other will win.
@brenvallier lol bro my point is is that mma is not all ground you have to be deadly anywere alot of mma fighters have good enough boxing as it is to compete in boxing, and no they really arent boxing is just 1 of the sports that is integrated into mma thats why its silly to argue about the 2 or to say they are 2 completely diferent sports because boxing is part of mma just as much as mui thai or ju jitsu or wrestling
@ironman145614 Come on dude, be real. Being undefeated as a boxer doesn't necessarily mean you are good. Yes, some skills in boxing are also compatible with MMA. Few MMA fighters would do well in a real Muay Thai match against a skilled Muay Thai fighter. You can't really say Muay Thai as a whole is part of MMA when some Muay Thai techniques aren't legal in all MMA.
You realistically shouldn't even compare Muay Thai to K1 either.
@57worldwide your dumb lol "not losing ever doesnt mean your good" haha ill remember that one, and exactly "few" thats my point FEW fighters would do well in mui thia FEW fighters would do good in a boxing match FEW fighters would do well in wrestling but you put all those fews together and its all the mma fighters i mean there is a handfull of wrestlers, handfull of this handfull of that thats why the call it mma its everything mixed together your acting like everyone is just a wrestler
@ironman145614 Someone who excels at Muay Thai may not necessarily excel in MMA. Not losing ever? You mean the difference between being undefeated and beating the best in their prime, like Ali? There is a reason people question Joe Calzaghe's undefeated record yet Ali is frequently called the greatest of all time.
As far as I'm aware, Diaz had one pro boxing match. He must be really good. I also should add, his opponent had his pro debut that match. Don't exaggerate Diaz' boxing abilities.
@57worldwide ya you got me lol i was seeing how long it took you to look up his record lol but i never said if you excel at muay thai you will excel at mma your missing my point and all i was saying in the first place i was arguing about your comment saying a boxer would destroy a MMA fighter in boxing and an MMA fighter would own the ground when thats not true some mma fighters are good enough to box,
@ironman145614 I do agree with what you are saying. Anderson Silva is a great striker and could probably compete in K1. But Anderson Silva is also not an average MMA fighter, at the moment fighters such as Silva are the exception. I am anticipating Overeem's next K1 appearance, but don't think realistically that he could win the entire GP.
An average MMA fighter should technically own the ground if facing a disciplined boxer. It's just the amount of experience each possesses.
What do these people mean boxing is dead? There would be no MMA without boxing. Boxing is still amazing to watch, and still as exciting as any MMA event. People just don't watch hard enough to see the finesse and skill in it.
What techniques do you think they teach you in your gay little MMA gyms for standup? Yeah, it is boxing or kickboxing. Get your shit straight, and don't go hating on boxing.
next time they should fight in a darker room. because there is too much light in the video. just like televised boxing matches on tv that are usually fought in pitch darkness.
@Hemestal exactly right man... what i loved about watchin tyson is that tyson was a finisher... the last boxing match i watch was floyd mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya... which sucked.... the only boxing fight i will ever get again will be if Mayweather ever fights Pacquio... other than that... not interested
@Wrestlefan1 No boxing is not dead, but wrestling is...pro wrestling had a little run and is now dead, but nobody likes greco-roman, its just so boring for most people.
@TheBestBoxingGame let me start off by sayin.. my name was from a long time ago... and im no longer a wrestling fan.. but i can still appreciate some wrestling.. first off pro wrestling did not have a "little run" as you put it.. it was the number 1 rated show on tv for years... 1993 - 2006 professional wrestling was one of the highest rated tv shows on.. and its still massive.. and Grecko Roman wrestling is a great sport along with freestyle, the reason i said boxing was dead is because (cont.)
(cont.) compare to mma boxing puts on very few big name fights anymore.. and even less big name fighters.. the last one i watched was Pacquiao vs. Mosely... and that was complete garbage.. Once the big name fighters in boxing currently retire, there wont be many more comin... with the explosion of mma, boxing will eventually die off.. as much as i personally hate to admit it.. but boxers are indeed a dying breed.
@Wrestlefan1 New names coming in boxing all the time, like Amir Khan, Timothy Bradly, Tyson Fury etc. The new one who retires the old, great ones, becomes the new great ones...and then it just continues.
Boxing is not what it used to be, but personally I dont think it's lag of public interrest but more that there's no really great names like Tyson and Ali. Even before Ali, they predicted boxing was going to die..they have been saying that for the last 50 years !
@ohitsubob lol while this dudes training in the gym and cage your training on the keyboard talkin shit wheres your fight at keyboard warrior? Your a bitch.
I shouldn't comment to this since it was 3 months ago but whaaat? Boxing boring? You cannot say that unless MMA was always exciting (which it isnt) GSP, my favorite fighter is like Floyd in boxing. One stands up and runs and gsp stays downs and hold while picking their shots. No class? Brock lesnar has class? Silva's cocky ass, just like roy jones. U know nothing. If u said that MMA takes more overall skill, then I would agree.
