ahh, memories, this was actually a catchy ad..and in the 1980's there still was a special feeling about going to the airport and flying somewhere.this ad is an oldie but goodie.makes you wish you back in 1981.
today flying has been democratised its not special anymore. I flew on my own for the first time in 1981 aged 4. I had a stewardess with me all the time and I enjoyed spending time at the cockpit, the service was top notch. I got candies and toys too. That year it was the first time I met my paternal grand parents. they came to collect me at the other end.Up until that point I had only seen them on pictures. I recognized them right away when the stewardess was busy identifyng them in the crowd.
NO WANDER THE TERRORIST CRASHED A UNITED PLANE INTO THE TWIN TOWERS THE PLANE COLOR SCHEME WAS TERRIBLE! AT LEAST THEY HAD ENOUGH TASTE NOT TO DESTROY A CONTINENTAL PLANE,WHICH LOOKED MUCH BETTER!!!!
AT LEAST THE MERGER KEPT THE CONTINENTAL LOGO, BUT THE MEAT BALL DID LOOKBETTER ALSO THE PROUD GOLDEN TAIL! UNITED HAS HAD SOME TERRIBLE COLOR SCHEMES, TULIP PLEASE!! AND THAT AUFUL GREY AND BLUE LOOKED LIKE A CEMETARY COLRSCHEME.
Thanks for posting this. It was weird how when I googled 'you should see us now', all the hits were for _Australian_ airlines. Memory does start to fail as you get older, but I knew I remembered them saying "we're CONTINENTAL...".
there will never be anything like "Golden Jet Service" again in the industry - this commercial epitomized the last days of the "airline pride built" prior to the merger with Texas International Airlines - the Continental name - synonymous with great service should have been retained in the CAL/UAL merger
@hyperkid321 To add salt to the wound, they are scrapping the tulip logo in favor of the Continental one. That same globe logo that replaced the great meatball back in 1991. That was a sad day in my life. Nothing compares to pre-Lorenzo Continental.
nice form the new to the old then to the merge with united
