Well, firstly crime is misdirected anger, anger caused by the system itself. People commit crimes when their needs are not met. Thus the contradiction of the prison and law and order system. This video is extremely misleading because it only shows the police responding to Rebel Diaz and didn't show what the rappers did to instigate the confrontation. Since this video was clearly made by those sympathetic to Rebel Diaz, I can only assume that what they are not showing (the initial confrontation) doesn't make Rebel Diaz look so innocent. And by the way, no one is saying that no police officers are ever in the wrong, I'm just saying that in this case they were probably right.
Based on what exactly? I know Rebel Diaz, I don't know these cops. I don't believe for a second they would "instigate" or "stage" anything. I don't know these cops. I used to live in New Brunswick, where our police would beat up homeless people in their off duty hours, and my DARE officer was busted in a prostitution and drug ring. The issue goes beyond the video tape (which does not show anybody resisting arrest, one victim even has his hands open and arms out displaying submission). As so many who commented have already displayed, the system was unacceptable from its inception. It must be abolished, all over the world, in order to begin the creation of a new world; a world based on freedom, democracy, justice, peace, love & respect.

Also, dawnsygirl and dahypedontphaseme are very likely agents of the government in some way. They definitely are not conscious of the political, economic and social hierarchy in the United States and the world. Obviously police officers are human beings, but their training and illegitimately sanctioned power corrupts way too many of them, and those of us from below end up hurt.
I apologize for not answering your question. I am not an agent of government or law enforcement so I am not qualified to do so... I am only speaking from some acquired knowledge. I do not wish to debate issues regarding law enforcement in generalized terms but rather specific incidents. And my personal opinion is that this incident as displayed on video does not reflect unlawful conduct.
And your opinion, since you weren't actually there, and were actually an eye witness or even remotely form this community or neighborhood, isn't worth very much, sorry to say in case you didn't know. It's best to live such opinions best left unsaid when you have no idea what you are talking about.
I suggested a few behaviors if in conjunction could have warranted arrest not disrespectful in itself. The police were conducting police business with vendor, anyone who insinuated themself into the situation made it grounds for arrest. If anyone felt there was an injustice they could have filed a witness complaint at the precinct which could have supported the vendors statement. Aside from this specific situation I was brought up to treat people with the same respect that you expect in return.
You are talking to two sides of you neck. The police said they "interfered" because Rebel Diaz started to tape the incident on their cell phones. There is nothing illegal about taking pictures on the street in broad day light. That's what every I know who says they were there said they saw. What do the police have to hide? Let's see what the cell phone got on it. What reason would their be not to?
I hope there is video showing how the New York Police Department's officers arrested people for asking on duty officers questions. Not that it would be the first time, nor is it necessary; it is common sense that police officers tend to get violent when asked questions about their possible violations of the law.
Analyst. Were they politely and respectfully asking for badge numbers or something different? If the police were dealing with the street vendors and other civilians got involved then they might have been obstructing justice. Possibly the civilians approached and were beligerant, disrespectful, verbally abusive and made threatening movements towards the officers which happens quite often and becomes the cause for arrest. Dunno. I wasn't there and can't tell by the video with all the music.

this was posted in a bulletin in myspace and i came here to see if this was a different video cause what i see isnt any kind of police brutality. like dawnsygirl said it is someone resisting arrest. so the video doesnt really do them much good, i think its more against them. if they were beat before being arrested then someone should have caught that on tape.

This video is extremely misleading because it only shows the police responding to Rebel Diaz and didn't show what the rappers did to instigate the confrontation. Since this video was clearly made by those sympathetic to Rebel Diaz, I can only assume that what they are not showing (the initial confrontation) doesn't make Rebel Diaz look so innocent. And by the way, no one is saying that no police officers are ever in the wrong, I'm just saying that in this case they were probably right.

People have a right to stand up for people in their community, where they live, being harassed by outsider. You assume it's misleading, but why? The two went over to witness the cops in action and when they saw the police being abusive they pulled out a cell phone to video tape the incident and asked for the officers badge numbers. I listen to the arguments being made on the vendor. One thing I noticed to was when Jim Crow laws existed. The Neo-Nazi racist regime says Immigration is wrong. But if Mexicans are illegal here than so are the white people. This is Native Indian land so because white Europeans have power over the government they continue to institutionalize racism. Thousands of complaints are recorded as received by the Civilian Complaint Review Board of NYC each year. The issue goes beyond the video tape (which does not show anybody resisting arrest, one victim even has his hands open and arms out displaying submission). As so many who commented have already displayed, the system was unacceptable from its inception. It must be abolished, all over the world, in order to begin the creation of a new world; a world based on freedom, democracy, justice, peace, love & respect.
Human beings dont need hierarchies for anything. Wishing you a new world.

Also, dawnsygirl and dahypedontphaseme are very likely agents of the government in some way. They definitely are not conscious of the political, economic and social hierarchy in the United States and the world. Obviously police officers are human beings, but their training and illegitimately sanctioned power corrupts way too many of them, and those of us from below end up hurt.

I apologize for not answering your question. I am not an agent of government or law enforcement so I am not qualified to do so... I am only speaking from some acquired knowledge. I do not wish to debate issues regarding law enforcement in generalized terms but rather specific incidents. And my personal opinion is that this incident as displayed on video does not reflect unlawful conduct.

I suggested a few behaviors if in conjunction could have warranted arrest not disrespectful in itself. The police were conducting police business with vendor, anyone who insinuated themself into the situation made it grounds for arrest. If anyone felt there was an injustice they could have filed a witness complaint at the precinct which could have supported the vendors statement. Aside from this specific situation I was brought up to treat people with the same respect that you expect in return.

There is nothing illegal about taking pictures on the street in broad day light. That's what every I know who says they were there said they saw. What do the police have to hide? Let's see what the cell phone got on it. What reason would their be not to?

I hope there is video showing how the New York Police Department's officers arrested people for asking on duty officers questions. Not that it would be the first time, nor is it necessary; it is common sense that police officers tend to get violent when asked questions about their possible violations of the law.

Analyst. Were they politely and respectfully asking for badge numbers or something different? If the police were dealing with the street vendors and other civilians got involved then they might have been obstructing justice. Possibly the civilians approached and were beligerant, disrespectful, verbally abusive and made threatening movements towards the officers which happens quite often and becomes the cause for arrest. Dunno. I wasn't there and can't tell by the video with all the music.

OK, so anyone who is disrespectful to an officer should be arrested. Meanwhile, officers can be disrespectful to all kinds of people, and what recourse do they have? Can we throw officers who are disrespectful on the ground and throw them in jail? I've had officers call me me spic, fag and shithead for pointing out that the I didn't need a permit to distribute leaflets on the sidewalk. Why wasn't I allowed to knock their teeth out? I was just practicing the 1st amendment, and they harassed.

this was posted in a bulletin in myspace and i came here to see if this was a different video cause what i see isnt any kind of police brutality. like dawnsygirl said it is someone resisting arrest. so the video doesnt really do them much good, i think its more against them. if they were beat before being arrested then someone should have caught that on tape.

The video does not show the entire incident but rather a portion. I can say that I do not see anyone respectfully asking the police officers for their badge numbers. It does however reflect a person clearly resisting arrest and police using appropriate actions necessary to restrain the resisting person for apprehension.

Have you ever taken photography and I you never have maybe the phrase a picture is worth a thousand words. Well to us you just have to show a glimpse of a police officer and we know police brutality has occurred. That's how often this happens all across America.
