That Austin A90 could have had the 3.8 litre all alloy engine that develops 295 BHP at 6000RPM and 300 ft/lbs of toque at 3000 RPM. Check out the healey site in Australia and and see the different types of Healey engines that are available. they can be found at the healeyfactory

what do they do to these big 6 cylinder motors? They go a whole lot faster than just cam and carbs. Do they use light pistones, off centre grind crank? What else?
Martin Brundle was brilliant , this was the highlight for me, over 60,000 people watched this race and everybody knew Brundle should have one, but he clipped the westminster going for 1st place and bent the steering arm and had to retire.
Anyway on behalf of the other 59,998 people my mate and i got a chance to tell him so there!.....A gent and a legend.
@numptyracing Was that Brundle in the Amazon? More like he got clipped by the westy, that should have been looked into. Dude hanging out the door isn't cool either, should have been fined for that.
@dcdcdscqa No, Brundle was in the blue Austin (number one on the side), the damage to his car happened later in the lap. As for Tom Kristensen hanging out of the door, it was only the slow down lap after he'd won, so I don't think anyone minded!
Sweet rides, Saw that on TV last year and remember Brundle in that A35.

I arrived literally as Brundle had to retire with the puncture, but what a drive from him until then!

Cheers for the comments! Was a shame about the A35's, but their day will come again I suspect!

@motorgeek81
In Australia, you would be kicked out the meeting for hanging out tof the car like that !
You can only undo you safety harness when the vehicle is STOPPED
Great to see such an unusual car, an Austin Westminster, win a race though!
