This is the first ive seen ur videos i found this entertaining. And will have to go and search out more. For the record ive always been a beer man but recently reaching out a little further. Keep up the good work
you got talent with that steel guitar, but for fuck sake dude, take of the overalls and that mask, you look like a guy from kentucky that accepts drug money to feed dead bodies to the swine!
Me and bourbon have been puttin the ear to the track again. Love your "Stranger things have happened"song. Just you wait, stranger things will happen !! I'm a fan of you and your reditions. Those nationals must cost a pretty penny .I think they make em a little south from me ,maybe Monterey County or Santa Cruz County.Keep up the good work. Ya gotta tell us all a little 'bout Flo now.
@375jaguar When I got divorced I was left a massive amount of credit card debt. So I lived in total poverty for about 18 months. When those cards said zero, I bought the first National, and the second about a year later.
They hold value very well. Since I purchasede them I've noticed that the prices are now several hundred dollars higher. To me they are also an investment - and a whole lot more fun than Kruggerands. I love them, and also my little Republic.
hoopiejohn, I like your style. The mask does not bother me at all, infact it is a unique factor. Question, does the mask allow you to play and sing your heart out like you do because it makes you feel less vulnerable or is the mask just simply for privacy?I like the fact you are a real regular person like the rest of us and that we have in people like you an alternative to the boob tube. I have spent a few evenings on youtube listening to your songs while on a burbon binge. Thanks .
@375jaguar It's simpler than that. I live in a small town. Suppose I have a solemn profession, full of responsibilities - preacher, teacher, funeral parlor director, banker, etc. Would I want people in my community to know what kind of music I play, and what kind of songs I write?
By the way, bourbon is my favorite; I just drank the rye for the song. Sipping on J. W. Dant right now. Elijah Craig is my favorite when I can afford it.
I been playing guitar for 30 years. I cut by bird finger on my left hand in half on a table saw. Al the way to the quick. Doing something stupid! Anyway, I couldn't play guitar for six months. I'm just now getting it in shape. All healed up and numb! Now, it never gets sore after playing for 10 hours! Comfortably NUMB!
@magprob Wow! You're lucky! Your slice was way worse than mine. In my case a pruning saw bounced of of a knot and gave me a glancing slice. Seven stitches on the top side of my index.
As a guitarist I try to give saws a lot of respect, and I hope you will too. The only finger I could lose and still play the guitar would be the little one on my right hand.
And my advice: Always wear gloves (Was I? No), and always give saws respect. Our left bird finger is very useful in more ways than one!
@rabornj She's doing great, but has refused to be in any more productions until I begin feeding her at least one can of "fancy feast" cat food daily. No more "Nine Lives", she insists on the "good stuff"!
i'll drink to that, jager shoots to ya brother and i still think your a wrassler, mayb that goy that used to eat the tunrbuckles, george steele. thats who you are
Big John, always look forward to your tunes! Sorry 'bout the finger! I work with power tools myself. If I may, I would avoid using power tools while using whiskey. That way, you'll most likely play guitar with all your fingers! That be mo betta!
Hoopiejohn - Bad news about the finger. I believe you're doing the right thing by drinking heavily. I intend raising a glass to you this evening and thanking the Lord you didn't lose that important digit . Thanks for this latest installment. Good to see you back.
Looks like this guy had a little too much.

Also after the "ocean/river and duck" reference I use this verse:
But that river ain't whiskey
and I ain't no duck
so I'll ramble on and I'll gamble on
with these drunken hiccups

Nice one brother, here is a few more verses I use:
My girl she left me, so I've been told
She couldn't stand my drinking or gambling my gold
She left in the morning, she left with a fuss
She left me and she's gone but I don't miss her that much.
Now it's cornbread when I'm hungry
Whiskey when I'm dry
Young ladies when I'm lonely
and probably hell when I die!

@flatpicker47 Thanks .I will add these to the verses and attribute them to flatpicker47!
