  • You're brushing him way too hard, it can hurt when you brush like that! :(

  • what version did you use??

  • When I'm doing a new rescue dog for the first few times until they get used to it I smear peanut butter on the fridge and work on them while they're busy licking it off. Maybe a cat would respond well to fish cat food? And yes, of course I disinfect the fridge door after the session is over.

  • Cat is annoyed. Tail wag is not happy for cats. She could be a little more gentle with him.

  • That cat would not be sat there letting her do it if she was hurting it.

  • @ravenguest He did move away...

  • what's up with all these people criticizing how the owner is brushing the cat? Cats love the furminator

  • @jadedfish85

    furminators are kinda pointy

  • Apparently the people who think she is pushing hard have never seen a cat fight. Their TALONS are alot longer than the furminators teeth.

That said I dont recommend pushing the comb till you feel bones cracking but this lady is doing nothing wrong. I push harder than that and my cats purr. Then again I never teased them with the yarn when they are kittens. instead I broke their will to retaliate. :) its in the training. They are animals NOT people and do not have human skin.

  • I agree that you are pushing too hard. I'm sure you're not intentionally trying to hurt the cat, but if you read the instructions it came with it says not to use any pressure. You just need to let the comb do the work. I own one, and know what I'm talking about. That is probably why your cat kept meowing when you were doing it. Besides the fact you were jerking her poor head around. :( please be more careful.

  • I wish my cats would keep still. They like it but they get excited and start pacing and spinning and circles. ugh! They will not keep still.

  • Holy! Are you angry at your cat? Sheesh...the FURminator is a sharp tool, and you are stabbing it into your cat. Next time, take a deep breath and calm down beofre you attack your cat with a sharp instrument!!

I love the FURminator, I just bought it yesterday for my dog. I can't wait to try it gently on my cats!

  • No it did not look like she was hurting the cat. The strokes looked firm but not hard.

  • omg maybe i need to get one for my persian :) enevr thought of it

  • Furminator is really doing a great job...

But, I agree absolutely... on every video I saw online, people use too much pressure, crazy...

don't they take a look at the prescreption or at the comb. Just a look tells it all. It is sharp and it is metall.

  • I use a FURminator on my cat, who normally doesn't like being brushed, and if you do it lightly and let them just lie there, she seems to tolerate it pretty well, and yea, it gets TONS of hair off her, and she wouldn't seem to have a lot of hair until i tried it!

  • i think the reason the cats don't like the furminator is because the person brushing is using too much pressure. my cat tolerates it just fine. i use a light touch and get plenty of fur off of him. i do it every other day for a brief time except in the spring, when i do it every day.

  • This is the third video i've watched and all the cats don't seem to enjoy being groomed with the furminator. I really think it hurts them. I'm thinking of buying but some reviews say they harshly pull on the hairs..

  • My vet just groomed my Maine coon cat without sedative using the furminator, she said Mittens didn't put up much of a battle, when my husband and I used other grooming brushs I get battle scars because she hates them. I am buying a furminator today from my vet.

  • I just got one last week. My cats love it and so do I :)

  • We have something similar. It's blue and straight, so it's harder to use because your wrist is so bent and all. My cat Siobhan really hates when I use it... Got the battle scars to prove it. It's easier to work in teams. One holds him down, and when he turns around we trade brushes.

  • Great product. I can't believe your boy is staying still. In the videos I've seen, I haven't managed to see one cat that actually enjoys being brushed with this. But it still does a great job.

  • I guess I overdid it with Warren, cause he doesn't let me brush him like that any more. He runs away after a minute or so. But when he was being brushed regularly, I've noticed a dramatic drop in his shedding around the house. It was great!
