I would like to know if it is possible to access into theses levels by hacking a saved game. For exemple, I save my game anywhere in the game and after, I try to hack the saved game (for try to load theses levels) with my computer and some tools like a Hex editor. After, I reinsert the modded game save in my memory card and I load my game. It is possible to do this with theses hidden levels? Also, how I can do a Ps2 memory dump? Do I need some tools?
@ShadowLee19 This I might be able to help with. Try searching for hex patterns like:
37 00 00 01 (when you're in Dragon Village)
39 00 00 01 (Crocoville Swamp)
3A 00 00 01 (Dragonfly Falls)
87 00 00 01 (Gnasty Gnorc)
etc.
The memory dump, I still can't really help with. The easiest way is to use a debug version of PCSX2. I'm afraid I really can't explain how to do this; it's very complicated. Still, try what I suggested above- swap the values if you find them. Good luck!
I searched for the hex pattern 37 00 00 01 in Ps2Dis (I opened the game executable of my Spyro A Hero's Tail Game and I go to Edit-Find Pattern-37 00 00 01, then, I check ''As Hex String'') and he takes me to this adress: 004fb290 Data: 01000037. No referers found when I press Space+F3. I also opened my saved game in Ps2Dis and when I do the same thing, Ps2Dis find nothing. Also, how I can open/decrypt FILELIST.000 in the game's data (in the DATA folder of the game disc)?
@ShadowLee19 Try searching the savefile instead, and find a point that changes to 37 00 00 01 when you're in Dragon Village and 39 00 00 01 when you're in the Crocoville Swamp. I haven't found a way to do it in the game's code yet.
As for the filelists, I'm afraid I can't explain how to decrypt FILELIST.bin. FILELIST.000 isn't encrypted. There aren't any programs I know of that can automatically do this, so I can't really help on that one... at least, not until I can get a website.
I have a question about the Crash Bandicoot WOC level editor. I would like to know what code hacking method do you use to load the level editor labels and activate it in the game. I am a beginner game hacker and I need your help for code hacking. You should make tutoriels videos and show to us your talent. Also, how long takes you to learn game hacking and become a master today?
@ShadowLee19 While I appreciate the praise, I'm certainly not a master of hacking! A friend of mine - a hacker, as well - directed me to GSHI where I learned assembly hacking. That was back in October 2008. But I've used memory editors since 2004, and have been programming since ~2005.
You really can't "load the labels". No- that'd be too easy! To be more precise you need to set editor "desc" variables (IIRC), linking them to editor functions; then find a way to load them all. Not an easy task!
Could you show to me (if its possible), step by step, how to enable the level editor In Crash Bandicoot WOC even if is very complicated with a Youtube e-mail? I want to see how do you do that. I searched these codes several hours and I found nothing interesting except the editors's labels. Also, does Ps1 game hacking is the same than Ps2 game hacking? Ps1 codes are in this form: 12345678 9ABC and Ps2 codes are in this form: 12345678 9ABCDEF1. What is the difference?
I have a question about the Crash Bandicoot WOC level editor. I would like to know what code hacking method do you use to load the level editor labels and activate it in the game. I am a beginner game hacker and I need your help for code hacking. You should make tutorials videos and show to us your talent. Also, how long takes you to learn game hacking and become a master today?
@PurpleFairyStudios I'll say this, you seem to be the first person to have mentioned the Dragonfly Falls thing (if I'm not mistaken). Well-spotted! I might consider revisiting that place as Sparx next time, so people can have a better look at it.
I wouldn't say they're tutorial levels though. All the numbers, grids, etc. are for testing purposes; for example, to measure how high Spyro can jump or how far a cannon could fire. They also tend to add in tons of stuff to play around with, too!
Do you use Ps2Dis to help you to find labels and make GameShark codes for play theses hidden level? I ask you this because I open the executable file of my Spyro: A Hero's Tail game (Ps2) and I view labels like Map test beach. But I have no idea for make the code for play theses hidden levels.
You're actually pretty close - I did use PS2DIS to find the levels. Those labels are the levels you see in the video. It's a bit more complicated, though. I found a new way to unlock even more levels without using the labels. Some of those levels are in the video.
If you know how to hack codes, convert them to GameShark, etc. then I can tell you how it's done, if you like!
I would like to know how do you find theses things in the game Spyro: A Hero's Tail. Do you use some tools or softwares to find beta levels in the game ? I love theses levels and I would like to try them. Also, I see a video of Custom levels in Crash Bandicoot The Wrath Of Cortex from CrashFreak. What is the code or level editor and what I need for creating my own custom levels just for fun ? Can you send me the code or level editor (If it have one) for try this ?
Hi LXShadow so 2 of these Spyro a Hero's Tail videos that were featuring levels that are hacked/ hidden levels or just test levels for sure but I want to ask you a question since you make 2 hacked/hidden level videos in Spyro a Hero's Tail can you make or upload a few videos of some hacked/hidden levels or test levels in Crash Twinsanity or in a demo version of it if you can try?
@8Apedemak8 I wouldn't be so sure about that - when Eurocom left all of their levels and characters hidden in the Crash Bash demos in Spyro 3, they could have lost a lot more money, had the community found out about it sooner.
If you ask me, they probably just didn't know which files were important to the game and which weren't, so they just left them all in to be safe. I'm not complaining!
Wow. Just wow mate. I have to admit, this game looks like it was rushed; as it seems like there is so much more content that should have been in the game. An underlying problem in this game was that it was a little too easy and short; with all this stuff you are finding it makes me think that this game was gonna be awesome, but was cut a lot. Crash Twinsanity had a similar issue, however Twinsanity was awesome. LXShadow, please continue these vids; they're awesome.
I totally agree I picked up a Hero's Tail when It came out, hoping it would be like Enter the dragonfly or any of the previous games but it was just boring, and it was so easy it was boring.
@CrystalFissure Thanks! But, again, they're test levels. Some could have been taken from Eurocom's old projects. If I remember correctly, the game was given two years to be developed so I don't think they planned much more than what's available (I could be wrong though). These levels would just make the testing process easier.
Crash Twinsanity, on the other hand, did have a lot of cut content indeed- kind of strange since that game had three years of development time!
@yearofthe Most of them are test levels, but the Dragonfly Falls one was probably a level design plan. One of the levels that isn't in this video looks exactly like one of the concept art drawings, although it's not very big or interesting.
