Len did not confuse the Argentine tango with this tango in the video. If you actually listen he mentions the Argentine tangos roots then talks about the man who changed it to this style in the 1930s. Come on, like he's going to confuse the two, seriously.
(part 3) Today we also have the new modern dance, Nuevo Tango, which is not part of the old classical styles. What is shown in show, like dances with the stars is neither Argentine tango or ballroom, but a combination of both and with all sorts of added acrobatics to make it new. So if you find real social tango from Argentina, it is not about flashiness, so much as about connection to the music an the partner. Yet Argentine tango done well can be very artistic and beautiful - a real art form.
(part 2) The Argentine social dance, not the show-tango we often see, is a very free-flowing dance, smooth, and not so dramatic. It is intimate in the embrace and is very much about connection, not separation like in ballroom. In Argentina they had a different style in almost every village or region, but today, it is mostly divided up into Milonguero style, Tanguero style and Salon style.
The Ballroom tango is a fine dance for ballroom, yet it is not even close to the Argentinian dance. I have studied and danced the Argentine Tango for over eight years. Ballroom has its roots in Europe, after the Argentine tango went abroad, first being introduced to Paris in 1910-1913. Later it was adapted for ballroom In England and the upper class - it is a very different dance. (see part 2)
That's the international style, not real Argentine. The loose hold and posture here is actually far less sensual here than it can be with the Argentine way. They should teach the original way instead!
The slower he speaks, the more sarcasm he sounds like hahaha

This may be Tango but it is NOT Argentine Tango. Len always confuses the two.But all of us Milongueras and Milongueros know better.

I don't think he was calling it an Argentine Tango, he was just saying that the tango in general originated in Argentina.
