..........I give to you the fantastic Nelly and her performing elephants. An extraordinary exhibition of animal dexterity from the darkest jungles of Africa.
@Jivemaster2005, Yes, this is from Nearfest, Trenton NJ 2002. Had I known about the show I would have been there. Fortunately they played The Classic Rock Festival at the same venue later that year. Where I purchased this very video. Roye and crew really rocked. It was an awesome show!!
Totally excellent! I just now thought to look for videos by Nektar. I have 4 of their albums and saw them live in Phoenix at the Celebrity Theater around 1977. There were only about 200 people in the audience because they weren't well-known in those parts. One of the best live performances I've ever seen!!!!
Good to see these guys are still doing their thing. Thought they faded into oblivion 30 years ago. Any U.S. tour dates? If so, then come back to Albany and bring City Boy and Be Bop Deluxe with you like in '77!
Probably my favorite Nektar tune (next to It's All Over)... love this live version with the extended guitar solo- Roye rules!!! Thanks so much for putting this up, and great to see them still so vital in the new millenium!
Fantastic! If I recall rightly this was some mad concept album about a space circus with Robert Calvert of Hawkwind as a crazed ringmaster. I'm off to Play or amazon to see if you can still get it. My vinyl was poached by someone else years ago.
Wow! I have just found this vid but been loving the song for many years... Awesome thanks for posting.... more please!!!

I saw Nektar in a small club in New York in 1975 or 1976 and fell in love with them. I still have two of their albums.

One of the last times the original lineup ever played together.
The current touring band is still EXCELLENT.

@Fronzel41
Nelly is from the "jungles of darkest Afrika" in the original lyrics so I have no idea where you got that Nelly was an Indian elephant.

I was there :-)

What an excellent live clip. First heard this track on "Down To Earth" in '74, one of my favourite Nektar albums.

Darkest jungles of Africa?
That's interesting; in the original song, Nelly is clearly an Indian elephant.

@PAULLONDEN African elephants are quite tempermental...indian elephants are FAR easier to tame and train.
