However, I still think that God anointed speakers more frequently than others (the gift of prophesy) - people such as Paul. So even though they weren't called "pastors," there were still nominal leaders when Christians met. I'd recommend Bro. Frank Bartleman's Azusa Street to you - you can get it on amazon. The only problem with this interpretation or 'use' of scripture, is that it is in the context of Paul telling people not to waste tongues or use it as a sign. They used it wrongly, in a fleshly way, and paul is sort of making an obvious point that it doesn't help anyone to use tongues as they were, and that 'only God would understand them'. It was actually a sort of mild sarcasm.

While I agree with your statement, I don't agree with your last sentence. I'm like you though - we're all on one-level.
