Get a grip Fitzergerald, Masterofsparks has a point. Rev Wrights sermons were one of anger, not racism. I can bet you the folks at fox news and the powerful rich old white men know mr right to be an angry man yet they twist things around to suit their candidates.
Let me just throw something at you fitzergerald... Why is it that the same people who accused Obama of being muslim because of his arabic name and race are now accusing him of being a racist christian. Hypocrite.
Behind the masks of these right wing freaks whining about Obama's or Wright's "hatred" are some really ignorant racists. Could they really be so amazingly stupid that they're completely unaware of the countless reasons blacks and other minorities have for being angry? Maybe if your grandfather was left swinging from a tree because he looked at a white woman you might be a little ticked off too. But, no, your grandfathers tossed the rope over the limb and now you're whining. Pathetic.
MasterOfSparks: You're CLEARLY the racist. You have no idea whether I'm red, black, white or green yet you make racist remarks like "your grandfathers tossed the rope over the limb." MY ancestors happened to be abolitionist who helped with The Underground Railroad.
You think anyone that questions a black person, no matter what it is, is a white racist. What a twisted mind set.
You're an adult "name calling" on Youtube. I'd say that's pretty pathetic...
Only one kind of person would fail to understand the reasons why blacks would be angry with the way they have been treated. What more do I need to know about you than that?
BTW Ron Paul wants to disband the education system and every safeguard put in place to protect citizens from the multinational corporations yet you support him.
You stated that "anyone who is familiar with Barack KNOWS that this little montage of clips does not resemble his viewpoints even remotely"
I was wondering why someone (Barack) would be a member of a "church" for 17 years with a leader that is overflowing with hatred towards white people and America. Not a single one of you knows someone that is a member of ANYTHING for 17 years and doesn't have the same viewpoints as the one leading it.
When someone uses the term "overflowing with hatered" it says something to me about their mindset. It says to me that some of that hatred spilled on them. Being full of hatred is enough I'd think. I was sick and sad thinking that the wright controv. would spiral and be the end of obama. I'm now elated that his #'s appear to have rebounded and the damage is minimal. It's only a big deal to the kind of 'social conservatives' that wouldn't vote for him anyway. they'd find any excuse.
To pick on a minuscule word, like overflow, is kind of pointless. The definition of overflow is simply "a large flow" or as I used it "a large flow of hatred" which he clearly has since he's irate in everyone of his "sermons"
There are plenty of "excuses" not to vote for Obama. I just don't have enough room to write them all.
There are a lot of people who like to reply to comments with statements that don't really make any good points or add anything to the conversation.
To me the debate of Obamas' character as it relates to Wright's most rediculous statements is more pointless. Like I said, you have plenty of other reasons to not support him, but it's easiest to bang this kind of drum. The kind that stirs up white distrust of him as a radical black candidate. That's more redicluous than elimenating the dept. of education which is what ron paul said he would eventually do. I'm not going to call ron paul a racist just because of his newsletter.Or should I?
Arthur: The videos have been posted about his character, therefore debates quickly persue. The only reason I am "banging this drum" is because it's what the video is talking about. I have debated many people who have posted other candidate's speeches as well, not just Obama and not just this topic.
Ron Paul did NOT want to get rid of education... He just wanted to get rid of the Federal education and give the power back to each individual state.
If you haven't seen the wright sermons at length, but only the clips played on the news then I personally think your whole attempt here to get people to "think" is less effective than it could be. I urge you to look at the whole sermons and he doesn't seem all that radical (to me) and I'm your average white dude from Arkansas. Obama's character to me is way above par as far as politicians go. He's the real deal in the integrity dept.
First, I wish to thank you for being mature about this conversation and not attacking me for having a friendly debate.
I am not a supporter of McCain in fact I don't like any of the front runners. I like Ron Paul a true Constitutionalist.
I made a slight mistake when I gave you a hard question and an easy one. As most people would, you answered multiple times to the easy one and not once to the harder one. Can you please answer the first question?
fitzgerald, you're welcome and invited to express dissent in my threads so please keep it coming.
The 2 minutes of clips were the product of opposition research, which is the opposite of balanced journalism.
I don't know the details of how the Obamas benefited from the fellowship and community of their church, but I am certain that this propaganda left an enormous territory of experience in that congregation hidden from view and I cede them the right to consider it worthy of their membership.
I definitely agree that there is a lot about this church and it's leaders that we don't know about. I am just trying to get people to question who they are voting for. I don't care who they are vote for, I just want them to THINK about what they stand for.
I know my Pastor never curses anyone or any race. I know that 99.9% of the time I agree with his views. Obama's Pastor seems to hate certain races. I would assume Obama agrees with his pastor the same 99.9% that I do with my Pastor.
It's not only the imagination, I definitely take you seriously :) I'm sure it also saves time. Maybe - I don't know if it exists - set it up to emboss the last 5 seconds or something, for example. Nothing fancy that would make the message showy. It might be somewhat reinforcing to provide a light-hearted, average - 'I don't know how to end these' to an otherwise above average and important message. I laughed out loud which doesn't happen often watching YT in 3Dland. Trying to capture the moment.
To end them, you should take that last 5 seconds and make yourself a outro. :) I would do it, but I'm technologically inept. Find out who did Shay Carl's.
I believe Shay actually got his buddy to do it. I don't know if I'm ready for bumpers. At this point I'm kind of making a thing out of the whole one-take aspect. In my imagination it ups my cred if I don't have to piece anything together. It's one of the things that impresses me about Daxflame. We'll see though.

If people want real change they would vote for a third party.
I won't vote for Clinton or Obama. neither one is fit to be president. they are both typical politians, saying whatever it takes for them to become president. Obama didn't disown Wright because he didn't want to lose his base supportors, African Americans. AS for Clinton, she'll win at any cost, even if it means taking cheapshots like what she did today in her attempt to distract the media away from the bosnia story.
Yes, Joe does great work and I'm not even voting for his candidate. Which is kind of funny because I am not following any right wing counterpart of Joe on youtube.

IT comes down to the fact that someone with extreme views such as Wright will have access to the president that others might not have.
goni-Your comment about having access to the president is more relevant when referencing someone who is simple-minded and easily-led by others, which Obama has shown he is not. What needs to be considered is the fact that he is capable of listening to different views, pulling out the best points, and making a logical decision. That's what we all should be able to do...
and you don't have to say "I hate white people" for it to be obvious that you're a racist. Just like a white person doesn't have to say "I hate black people." for you to know their a racist. (Actually they can just see that a person is white to know their racist.)
Great video on the repercussions of the comments, but I would have liked to have seen you debunk the whole thing. Everyone is calling Rev. That's valid 07kane. One of the clips has him raging against the Tuskeegee Experiment in which black men with syphilis were given placebo treatments and allowed to die for government research. Why shouldn't he be angry about that?
Much of the pulic reaction has been more about his out-of-control delivery, which is something we defend at our peril. There are better battles to fight than fighting over Wright's statements. We need the focus back on our candidate and what he says and does.
while he does have a right to be angry it is the way in which he directs his anger that I find questionable. from what I can gather from viewing his tapes it is as though he is stiring up hatred against whites. Also, while he may have reason for being angry over the Tuskeegee experiment other issues he have have no validity at all. America Knew about pearl harbor?, the government created aids to destory black people. these are nothing less than conspiracy theories.
For thegreenskies and jsquared (from wikipedia): The current number of coalition troops in Iraq is 166,000.
US=158,000 95%; UK=4,500; Poland, South Korea, and Australia each have 900, and the final 800 are shared by 17 countries--mostly small former Soviet states. 18 additional countries had committed troops but have now withdrawn, including Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Thailand, and Japan.
"I really can't understand why politics should be preached from the pulpit. I also think it's dangerous to substantiate politics with religion."
For one, there's supposed to be separation of church and state. Secondly, if those who make their money off of big religion had to pay taxes, who'd be screaming the loudest?
yes jesus said "render unto Caesar what is Caesars" in other words let the government take care of itself and the church itself. Mixing religion with politics is absurd
Taking it even further (in reference to Christianity). During Jesus' life on earth many of his followers thought that he was going to lead a rebellion against the oppressive Romans. In their minds the King of the Jews (Messiah) had arrived & was going to free them.
Jesus made it VERY clear that his purpose was to serve & be sacrificed for God's Kingdom - not an earthly (political) one. He never preached against the Roman Empire, but preached about peace, love & forgiveness.
Haha, yeah I went to Roswell in '06 and it was kinda disappointing. I got the feeling they were reluctantly living out the remaining kitsch value of their name in spite of not really liking the whole alien theme to begin with.
It felt like one of many tiny cities in a rural landscape full of kids just waiting for an opportunity to get out. However, I was only there overnight, so I could be completely wrong!

Know any Catholics who use birth control? It's one of the Pope's new "seven deadly sins".
Know any Catholics who are pro-death penalty or pro-choice? Both major sins.
Know any soldiers opposed to the Iraq war? They're out there and re-enlisting nonetheless.
How about Republicans who think McCain is a joke on many issues but will vote for him anyway--are you one of them?

I really can't understand why politics should be preached from the pulpit. I also think it's dangerous to substantiate politics with religion.

"shmo"? Is that Yiddish for, "Orator wears Roswell T-shirt sans tin foil hat?"
Hahahahaha... :0)
