I make a living helping people also- as a fireman. I'm so surprised that a fraud like this is viewed positively. I had seen plenty of those videos in college and afterwards, his lack of sincerity is overwhelming. religion is a silly superstition carried over from the dark ages and should be viewed as such.

ps. Yes, Dr. Wayne Dyer has been a huge influence on me also! As have many others..Its funny, because now that I consider myself more 'Spiritual' than 'Religious' I've been going back and reading the Bible with different eyes. What a beautiful book. It's the world's greatest self-help book! Except that Jesus doesn't take the role of Dr. Phil or anything... hehe :)

I know what you mean about reading the bible with different eyes. Quotes and passages have a different meaning when approached from an internal perspective. Jesus said some amazing things!!

Religion has helped people to be kinder and more compassionate, but it's also been used as a weapon of hatred. Deepak Chopra said over a billion people have been killed in the name of Christ. Talk about misunderstanding Jesus!!! Sheesh!

Maybe the world needed an external concept of God in an earlier, more uncivilized time.

I've read that the so-called "end of the world" in 2012 is really about a return to the true nature of God and spirituality. No death and destruction, just a renewed sense of who we are. A pleasant thought!

I think we can do better than that. I haven't found any church which doesn't violate this commandment.

When I first listened to Zig many years ago I said "Whoa, is that accent FOR REAL?" He's given me great advice over the years.

I consider myself spiritual, not religious. The reason why faith is so important is because we must believe if we're not happy today we can create a better tomorrow. Infinite Intelligence (in place of the word "God") will guide the way!

Many years ago I took a trip with a man who studied religion. He said the same thing as you, that God began as internal, then people started interpreting Him as external. God became a disapproving parent rather than an individual's guiding source!

My understanding is that God is unique for each of us. As long as I keep looking within, I'll find the answers that are best for me. Dr. Wayne Dyer has helped me a lot.

That man sounds like a wise one! I think the intuition was always there for me, as with everyone, but I didn't recognise it. I was brought up in a religious family, which was fine with me. I dont have a problem with 'religion' per se, it's just the interpretation of each peoples' thoughts and experiences over the millenia..its like the 'book' that houses the stories etc.. But that inuition is what counts the most. Unfortunately these days there are so many ways to pass it by

As to this "insecure God",I know I want the best for my children. Since God created us, he knows the best thing for us is to worship him. It has nothing to do with insecurity. God creating the entire galaxy hardly needs our worship to provide him with insecurity. If you are open to it, I encourage you to check out the book "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist"
