How do you pack/protect your records when moving house (if you've moved since you had your collection)? Also, can you recommend any good shelving units that you've seen since you made this video?
Be sure to save those first pressings and never, ever play them, so that your wife or kids can have the pleasure of hawking them on eBay for .99 each when you die!
@djs259 You can play rare or older records without messing them up, just don't do it all that often and rip them to a computer for listening. When I die I'm not selling my collection for any money at all. I'm giving it too someone I know who will take care of it and keep it safe and when they can't keep it anymore they would do the same thing. It's not something where money has any value at all, it's my life interpreted through music.
great collection, i have never seen a individual with so many records? the l;ast guy i saw with this many lp's was a guy who ran a store front record store, but the cd,mp3 industry forced him to close shop... is this your case/ or are u a guy who just love records and collected so many over the years....again great collection... one quick collection, if anyone knows about records it's you, curious what you use to clean your vinyl records
The weight of that must be inmense on the home too!
Looking for 3 bedroom?! For your family right? But for more records?!
You can be an audiophile and have affordable components. Thats a myth.
That Marantz is fantastic. The Tascam 302 is THE best cassette deck ever. Probably better than the Nakamichi Dragon and maybe Sony ES decks. Why? Because it was studio grade and the NR circuitry is amazing. Doesn't get better than that in my view.
Nice video, fellow vinyl enthusiast. Looking to get rid of some doubles? Any Neil Young, Beatles, Zeppelin, Dylan or Black Sabbath, Ozzy or Metallica? :)
I love your setup. WELL I do record/cd shows but I usually sell mostly cd's at shows...my advice is do shows to sell off stuff you don't want. You can make fun money for yourself and have a little disposable income.
Hey Kevin! Welcome! Just now watching your intro video. What a collection!! I have a feeling I'm going to learn a lot from you. How long have you been collecting? It's such an addictive hobby, isn't it? Look forward to seeing more of your videos!
@thetcha70 glad you viewed my video, i think we can all learn off each other, thats the great thing about THIS community. we are introduced to music and equiptment and formats and genres that we might not fully appreciate ...yet.
Hey man thanks for the sub , i two was drooling over your collection , I dont know if you mentioned in your video but how ,many years of collecting is that?
Thinning out a record collection is very difficult! I keep raising the bar higher and yet I've never bought so many records these past couple of years! Good luck! Looking forward to seeing your record selection! Start with The Beatles! :D
Nice! I like your approach on equipment VS records! I also am a record collector who isn't really an audiophile. I prefer to keep my money for more records than high-end equipment. When buying used records, what's the point of hearing every little defect even more clearly? ;-)
Nice Tascam! Mine is a 112 with pitch control and large VU-meters. Small Akai R2Rs are tanks! I have a few of them myself. (contnd)
HA HA!!! Welcome my friend!!! That was a great intro video and those shelves have already got me drooling like crazy lol. You are going to be a great addition to the community and I think you can tell by all the comments from the collectors here that they think the same. I would also love for your second video to be a respnse video to the "Record Question" thread that Spellerine started. That would awesome. Again, welcome to the community!
@mrhoffame its nice to meet others with the same respect and passion for vinyl. i will try to get a video response to spellerine's questions soon, thanks for checking out my video
Wonderful video! You have a very nice collection and I can't wait to see all the great artists that are in your collection. Thanks very much for the kinds words and look forward to seeing more record videos from you! Also, those 8 track recorders are awesome! :)
@jcashfan365 thanks, glad you checked it out, hope to post another in the next couple days. those 8-track recorders were a score, they were $6.49 each, so i paid less then $13.00 for both, they play and record great. i wore a smile for a week on that find. thanks for the view
@spellerine i wanted to post a video after watching everyone else show their collections over the last few months, i was inspired by you, jcashfan, dhancy, mrhoffame, and of course everyone else. thanks for watching
Glass shelves is a crazy idea haha, I'd be SO worried about them breaking.
I can't really tell but it doesn't look like you have poly-bags on your LPs. Any reason why/why not?
Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing more of what's in those shelves and like Joseph said, you should post a vid response to Spellerine's questions thread. It'd be a great introduction.
@dhanycz i just have a few hundred are rapped in poly, it is something im going to tackle as i go through my collection when i thin it out. i do worry about the glass a lot more now that they are in my living room, i use to have a music room and it was safer behind a locked door. glad you liked it thanks for watching
@dhanycz Hey, your mention of no poly bags reminded me of a guy I used to work with in Australia's best record store back in the 80s and 90s. He didn't even own a TV and only listened to records. He told me he had performed tests on identical records, same pressing etc of copies he had stored for years - one IN a poly bag, and one copy without a poly. He was absolutely CONVINCED the poly bag DULLED the sound. I immediately removed the bags from my massive collection, which I'm now replacing...

Hi Kevin, very smart library setup you have there. Is that a Marantz model 6300 in the background?
