First off may i ask how you know that jesus and God are the same person? How would Jesus be calling out to his father in Luke 23:34 "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do". If they were the same being wouldnt he not have a father? Secondly, why would it matter if the Jehovah Witness' believed its only right to pray in God's name? i thought you believed they were one person? You totally contradict yourself saying he was the first creation, then he was created after everything else?
Good work, but you should understand the roman chatolic church is the mother of all false chruches.... What about the name of all popes ''vicarius fili dei''? Jesus Christ gave us the Holy Spirit as guide, not humans who clame to be Jesus substitut...The vatican belives the pope has as much power in heaven and the earth as Jesus him self.. Does not the popes grow old and die as everyone else? The pope has only ''make belive'' power, and everyone just follow ignorantly. Come on, grow up, WAKE UP
"Men encompassed with danger may lawfully "defend" their lives. It does not prove that it is lawful to make "offensive" war on a nation or an individual." Barnes notes on the bible not a JW or even from a JW affiliated webste btw.(biblos.com) Rome Has oppressed the apostles as well and maybe a few other nations. Did they engage in war for nationalistic interest?(Romans 12:19)
how can jesus be god anyway if he died on a cross and yelled out why have you forsaken me? he wouldnt of been yelling to himself its all crap all religions have been based around Sun worship
@essy111 Actually Jesus quoted from Psalm 22, which prophesied the Passion. He probably continued the Psalm in silence. Read the Psalm in full and you will see that Jesus did not think that his Father had given up on him but, rather, he showed confidence in the Father despite immense suffering.
Thanks so much for posting. I have had a Jehovah's Witness coming to my home for 12 years now and just recently we begin to have very serious talks about the bible and how there are no originals writings to any parts of the bible. The next time she comes over I will show her this and see how she can explain it.
read what the bible says about changing the bible....Revelation 22:18-19
Oh and in Colossians referring to the "Staurou" it can refer to an upright post OR a cross, either way they are not showing any bias, and it really has no doctrinal meaning to differentiate between the two in my opinion.
Regarding Matthew 26 the Greek actually says "touto estin to sōma mou" or "this is to body of me" which can be interpreted to be saying it is an equivocation of his body, not literally his body which is of course impossible to be literal
@TruthSeekingOne what do you expect from a guy wearing a cross? Psalms 115:4-8 KJV....4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. 5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
8 They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them
Also I would mention that in John 14:14 of the King James Version it translates it the same way as the NWT, so are you saying the King James Version was trying to deny the divinity of Christ as well? It is obviously grammatically correct.
2 Peter 1:1 is explained easily if you read the NEXT VERSE it explicitly says "Of God AND OF Jesus Christ" or "tou theou kai iēsou tou kuriou". It logically follows that there is a distinction between the Father and the Christ, but Jesus can also be a God...
1:37 That is false. The Watchtower OFTEN quotes other Bible translations, I can give you a ton of examples if you want them.
2:40 Jesus WAS a created being according to Colossians 1:15 and Revelation 3:14.
In John 8:58 the term "I am" is correct, BUT it is also correct to say "I exist" and since he is talking about the past, you could easily decipher that Jesus was telling them that he existed in the heavens before his birth as a human, which is the JW teaching.
I"m going to comment as I hear your issues. First of all..we do not cliam the NWT is the only valid translation..we use many. John 1:1 requires alot of information about anarthous predicates, definite and indefinte articles, and context. Also, we are not the first to render this this way. John 8:58 is not refrencing exodus..Jesus is saying he was alive long before abraham...as for the rest..contact me if you want to learn anything.
As for distorting passages, in the Old Testament - Jews do not believe it shows Jesus was god, etc, etc. Are they not experts on the OT? Of course they are. Socoming out with JW's smuggle in teachings or interpretations - well ALL Christian movements do that especially regarding the Old Testament! watch?v=qSfi4j9vsPE (add to Youtube address as cannot post ful llink here).
I would love everyone to see my NWT that I have marked up in red showing the changes to God's Holy Word. Just guessing I have found approximately 600-700 changes which I continue to find more every few days.
They would not change their beliefs to fit what God teaches..so they changed His Holy Word to try to fit what they teach...beyond blasphemy...this is not a book from God but a book from SATAN ...stay away..burn it
If you research "missing scriptures from the New World Translation" it is very interesting. All religion is bad, but the witnesses are among the worst.
Faith is a cop-out: a defeat-an admission that the truths of religion are unknowable through science or reason. -Dan Barker
Rolf Furuli: "I read the English text of the NWT against the Hebrew text, word for word...the translators of the NWT have been extremely faithful both to their own translation principles and to the Hebrew text."
Thomas N. Winter: "The translation by the anonymous committee is thoroughly up to date and consistently accurate...In sum, when a witness comes to the door, the classicist, Greek student, or Bible student alike would do well to place an order."
-Professor of Koine Greek at the University of Nebraska
In 1407 the synod of clergy summoned in Oxford, England, by Archbishop Thomas Arundel expressly forbade the translating of the Bible into English or any other modern tongue. In 1431, also in England, Bishop Stafford of Wells forbade the translating of the Bible into English and the owning of such translations.
In 1199 Pope Innocent III wrote such a strong letter to the archbishop of Metz, Germany, that the archbishop burned all the German-language Bibles he could find. In 1229 the synod of Toulouse, France, decreed that “lay people” could not possess any Bible books in the common tongue. In 1233 a provincial synod of Tarragona, Spain, commanded that all books of “the Old or New Testament” be handed over to be burned.
Concerning translation into the common tongue, Pope Gregory VII stated in 1079: “It is clear to those who reflect often upon it, that not without reason has it pleased Almighty God that holy scripture should be a secret in certain places, lest, if it were plainly apparent to all men, perchance it would be little esteemed and be subject to disrespect; or it might be falsely understood by those of mediocre learning, and lead to error.”
(9:29 in) Error (11) 2 Peter 1:1. Matt 26:26:28. Well, he really went out on a limb with this one. It is his theological bias being a Catholic. They want the emblems to be miraculously turned into flesh and blood. Even Protestant translators would be with the NWT here, their translations made this correction before the NWT. He should worry about his own history, locking the Bible up in the Latin Language for a thousand years, and then slaughtering those that dared put it in common languages.
(8:41 in) Error (10) 2 Peter 1:1. This is getting pretty old. He gives us no Greek grammar, or legitimate reasons to accept his rhetoric. The Sharp rule has been shown to be no rule at all. I am guessing he will not even know what that means.
(8:02 in) Error (9) torture stake or cross? Even I am not so bold to say one way or the other. From my investigation, it is about 50 percent either way. However, he is Catholic and they are into worshiping and showing extreme reverence for icons and images. Let us see if that is Biblical? I mean, if I went into Catholic beliefs, we would be here all day. Just one, show me in the Bible where it says that we should pray to Mary?
Also, let us look at 1 Cor 15:27-28 (ESV) For "God has put all things in subjection under his feet." But when it says, "all things are put in subjection," it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.
Thus, "all" is being used as hyperbole here, there is no way that Jesus created ALL things, because he did not create the Father, nor did he create himself. If we are using the word in an ALL encompassing way, this is what it would mean. CONTINUED . . .
(6:34 in) Error (8) Colossians 1:14-20. Again, he does not know Greek grammar, or context. The Greek word for "all" does not always mean all, it is used as hyperbole (e.g., Lu 11:42; 21:29). But first, adding words in translation are have to practices, all Bible do it, to clarify the meaning in English, or the receptor language. Look at the italicized words in the NASB. CONTINUED . . .
CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS POST: There is what is called external evidence and internal evidence. External is manuscripts, which should carry most of the weight. Internal evidence is the grammar, what would the author say, context, etc. The WTBTS depended more on internal evidence here, which is NOT what they normally do. So, there is the possibility off bias, but not enough to know. When you capitalize "ME" that should be there, that is evidence of theological bias. The same is true at Jn 8:58 IAM
(4:40 in) Error (7) Here is he talking about John 14:14. This is going to deal with textual criticism, another subject this guy obviously does not know. First, notice the capitalization of "ME" in the DR Bible. There is not justifiable reason to capitalize that. Now, this is based on textual evidence. The overwhelming evidence is that "me" should be in the text, and limited evidence shows that it should not be there. So, in this case, they are making a decision that could be attributed as bias.
(3:56 in) Error (6) He says ALL other translations render John 8:58 like the DR Bible 1610. Not true at all. Most do, but some do not. But this just shows he has not researched his subject at all. He knows no Greek, has never studied Bible translation, does not know the history of the English Bible. What gives him the right to evaluate anything. Here is theological bias, the translators who capitalize I AM, wanting it to be a title, and link it to Ex 3:14
look at verse 57 from the ESV: Jews said to him, So the Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?" Therefore, the context is about Jesus age, not who he is. Therefore, in verse 58, when Jesus that said that he had been around before Abraham (age), they chose to stone him. He was claiming to be a divine person, giving him more authority than the religious leaders, worthy of stoning in their eyes. So, this guy is wrong on context too.
(3:32 in) Error (5) He says that the Jews said that Jesus was claiming to be God that is why they were wanting to stone him. NOT. Jesus never claimed to be God. Whatever the Religious leaders claim has nothing to do with Jesus' claim. CONTEXT. Regardless, verse 50 says NOTHING about what the Jews thought, the ESV reads, "So they picked up stones to throw at him." What did Jesus actually claim, CONTINUED TO NEXT POST . . .
(3:03 in) He goes to John 8:58. He is only comparing English translations. This is not evidence. If he feels a rendering is wrong, he should explain the evidence that makes it wrong, not compare translations. What is the grammar rule for both renderings, and which is correct. I cannot explain it all here, but here is the layman version. The grammar rule is called PPA, Past of Present Action still in Progress. In all occurrences in John, other Bibles follow the grammar rule, but not Jn 8:58. Why?
(2:49 min in) Error (3) John 1:1 has been a long debated verse. He says that the Witnesses rendered 1:1 the way they do, because of theological bias. Really. Then explain why other Christian translators, who believe Jesus is "God" translate the verse similarly. Second, the bias of those that render it "God" is the same, they want to establish that Jesus is "God." Obviously there are grammatical reasons for either rendering, and that is the evidence he should be mentioning. We will see?
Error in this video (2) Immediately, he decides to use the 1610 Douay Rheims Bible as his tool of comparison. Obviously he is clueless to Bible translation, and the history of the English Bible. The foundational text for the Old and New Testament of the DRB is the Latin Vulgate of 1610. Look at EVERY modern translation, they use either BHS for the OT and UBS4 and NA27 for the New Testament. Immediately, this guy is clueless.
Errors in this video: (1) just a 30 seconds in he says the Witnesses believe that "Jesus is just a man, and did not create everything." This is absolutely false, they believe he is the first crested spirit Son, and the person who did creating everything except God. The master worker. He can't get 1 minute into his video without making to erroneous errors. Stay tuned for more, this is number 1
We don't need to read the greek to understand the full context of scripture. God made it clear. And clearly the Jehovah's witnesses is a heretical religion full of false hoods. And you can read this in the greek. Paul said anyone who preaches another gospal other than the one I preach let him be accursed. Not talking about others than JW's for the aposltes themselves were not JW's! So repent and turn away from the organization of Blasphemy. And you too can be saved. only through Jesus Christ.
With all due respect you do not know about greek language or its grammar a language that the books of Matthew to Revelation were written in. You should really investigate your sources before acting on impulse or emotions. Something that will help understand "Qualitative Anarthrous Predicate Nouns like in John 1:1 is Journal of Biblical LIterature Volume 92, Philadelphia, 1973 pg 85-87. If you cant understand 1 simple verse can you be trusted? The TRUTH never sins but can be uncomfortable!!!!!!!
The apostle John, in the context of the introduction to his Gospel, is pulling all the stops out of language to portray not only the deity of Christ, but also his equality with the Father. He states that the Word was in the beginning, that He was with God, that He was God and that all creation came into existence through him and that not even one thing exists that was not created by Christ. What else could be said that John did not say?2
2B Then John next stated that the Word was God, i.e., of the same family or essence that characterizes the Creator. Or, in other words, that both are of the same nature, and that nature is the highest in existence, namely divine….
@witness96 2a If the Greek article occurred with both Word and God in John 1:1, the implication would be that they are one and the same person, absolutely identical. But John affirmed that "the Word was with (the) God" (the definite article preceding each noun), and in so writing, he indicated his belief that they are distinct and separate personalities
However, Mantey observes:Since my name is used and our Manual Grammar of the Greek New Testament is quoted on page 744 to seek to justify their translation, I am making this statement… of all the scholars in the world, as far as we know none have translated this verse as Jehovah’s Witnesses have done.
LET’S READ WHAT DR.MANTEY A GREEK SCHOLAR AND AUHTOR OF THE GREEK GRAMMAR BOOK BELOW WROTE:
"We should also note that the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Interlinear (p. 1158-1159) utilizes both Julius Mantey’s Manual Grammer and A. T. Robertson’s Grammar in defense of their John 1:1 translation.
The Greek text Do Support John 8:58 As "I Have Been" in the New World translation. Look At Strong's # 1510 K JV Use Hadst been in john 21:11,32; also Acts 24:10 it is sad that you all don't study. what is even sadder is i have to expose you!

i am A J.W. I Would Recommend You to study deeper than just using A Bible To Support Your Belief. Anyone Can Translate a Bible. For instance, You Used The Douay Translation To Show The "ME," in John 14:14 News Flash! The King James Version did not translate it either. and Why? Because it did not support the oldest M.S.S!

One True Church - I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I have in front of me "The Jerusalem Bible" and I will quote John 17:1 which reads Father, the hour has come:
Glorify your son so that your son may glorify you; - Here Jesus is asking his heavenly father to glorify him - Is the son and the father the same person, in what i have read i will say no - Read John 16:17-19 where Jesus said that he is going to the Father
The Jehovahs witnesses don't claim that jesus was just a man !! they admit that he is the only begotten son of God And that He (jesus) was used by God to create all things... Get your facts straight !
I notice that you talk about protestant`s bibles, this bibles are catholic bibles just incomplete versions, every book in the bible is canon of the catholic, no protestant have the authority to know wich one are divine inspiration our with a apostolic roots.
Hmm, they are removing history again, by writing torture stake instead of cross, our descendants will not be able to connect it with the Zodiac Cross of which Jesus was killed in the age of the Fish, the age of the Savior, just like Krishna in the age of the Twin, the age of the Savior.
Crab=Creator, Twins=Savior, Bull=Destroyer. Like Ram=Creator(God), Fish=Savior(Jesus) and Water=Destroyer, but who will it be ?
Also, it's interesting that Trinitarians bring up John 5 so much considering RIGHT before that verse: Jesus answered: If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father that glorifies me, he who YOU say is YOUR God; 55 and yet YOU have not known him. But I know him. And if I said I do not know him I should be like YOU, a liar. But I do know him and am observing his word.
... Does that really sound like Jesus is claiming to be God? Or even equal with him?
@dasgregorian n John 20:28, Thomas falls at Jesus feet, exclaiming, "My Lord and my God!" (Greek: Ho Kurios mou kai ho Theos mou—literally, "The Lord of me and the God of me!") So.. why did thomas call Jesus God?
Again... remember, Jesus shares the same nature as the Father. I hope you can grasp this. let me know if you need anymore help.
@SylarDX85 that is because the word god does not exist the word is elohiym which means many things in hebrew haha and lord is a title meaning master. that would be a contradiction anyways......
Mark 10:18 Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good except one God.
Number 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoke, and shall he not make it good?
Malachai 3:6 "For I, Yahweh, don't change; therefore you, sons of Jacob, are not consumed.
contradicts....
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
@SylarDX85 i am is nothing in greek . The phrase found in exodus is in hebrew. Also the Septuagint has "eigo emi ha'ohn" and then "ha'ohn" in the following verse where only one "i am" is mentioned . Jesus said eigo emi. if he was trying to claim to be the Most High YHWH then he erred and quoted the wrong single "i am" . Furthermore, the gnostic gospel of john says that EVERYONE that receives the word of God is "theos" . too bad that the only gospel that calls jesus god also says everyone is also
@yomamasofat87 Jesus had an human mother, Yet we was the only begotten son. No Adam and Eve were not god, The father was there God just as he is our God today.
Fourth, John 8:58, Jesus used the phrase "ego eimi" ... which DOES translate to "I am" but that doesn't mean it's the same phrase translated as "I AM" in the OT. It simply means "I am" or "I am being" or "I continue to be" ... it's not a name. Look at Mark 1:7 where John the Baptist says "I am not fit to stoop and untie the laces of his sandals"
... John said "I am"... do you believe John is God as well?
@dasgregorian Actually someone saying just I AM, was word for I AM GOD, I AM the all Mighty. Just because you I am in the middle of a sentence does not mean John was saying he was God, because he wasn't. Back than, saying I AM was good enough as I am God. Why do you think the jews killed him? because he was good looking? No..Blasphemy! Truly Truly I say to you, before the world was... I AM! And the Jews picked up stones to kill him! (Claimed he was God, and he is).
@SylarDX85 Think about the context for just a moment. Assume the statement "I am" was to be translated as God's name (YHWH). Read the context starting in verse 56. Jesus is speaking of the fact that Abraham "rejoiced greatly in the prospect of seeing my day." The jews claimed he wasn't old enough to have seen abraham... and Jesus responds: "Before Abraham was, YHWH."
... does that contextually make any sense? No. But, if Jesus responded "I have been since before Abraham." Makes sense.
@dasgregorian Completely backwards, but thats ok. Any biblical scholar will tell you what the words "I AM" means. Once this was said.. why did the jews pick up stones to kill him? In John 8:58, when quizzed about how he has special knowledge of Abraham, Jesus replies, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I Am"—invoking and applying to himself the personal name of God—"I Am" (Ex. 3:14). His audience understood exactly what he was claiming about himself.
@teflonfanatic No, wish it was the simple, but its not. "So they took up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple" (John 8:59).
Jesus said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on Him that sent me. John.12:44
Jesus said, for I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. John.12:49,50
Jesus said, what I teach(doctrine) is not mine, but belongs to the One that sent me. John.7:16
@CatholicApologia: Srry dear sir your still biased there is zero proof in context or otherwise that Jesus was putting the name of God unto himself. The Pharisees like organized religion will try to find anything they can to attack true worshippers and yes they stoned him for claiming he lived for several centuries before he came a man.
@teflonfanatic Don't be sorry, the Greek and context of the text say otherwise. Attacking to the true worshippers? Don't know about that, but they do attack his Church everyday. :-) God bless and Merry Christmas!
@CatholicApologia: In world war 1 and 2 the Church both protestant and Catholic killed their own people over nationalism. i'll agree to disagree on the context and let it die.
First off, we don't believe "Jesus is just a man" ... JWs believe he is the Son of God. Secondly JWs used the KJV up until the '60s... we don't "only use the NWT" ... the watchtower quotes other translations almost about as much as they quote the NWT. Thirdly about John 1:1... look up the greek for yourself. Research the qualitative properties of anarthrous nominative predicates. Then, feel free to apologize.
OK. Get the Strong's Concordance and look up LORD (not Lord) and you will see for yourself that ALL bible translations that do not include God's personal name (English translations should use Jehovah as God's personal name) are changing the meaning of the original text. The NWT is most accurate compared to any other translation in this regard. This is just the beginning...again I recommend REASEARCH. Trinity concept - prechristian PAGAN belief that was adopted for political reasons-not truth.
One more thing. For those of you talking about people see things from a different point of view, I want you to know that this excuse is not going to fly when God judges people for distorting His Word and leading people astray! TRUTH IS NOT RELATIVE! If you think so, you are being deceived. If you believe that then anyone can say that stealing is ok because to them the truth is that stealing or murdering being ok is true to them. WAKE UP! That is the lie of the Devil!
The WTS is vile and a cursed organization! Their false prophecies have been going on for a long time and their blapshemous twisting of scriptures is horrendous and leading people to hell. It's another gospel just like the Mormon Gospel. And any gospel other than the one in the Bible (the same the apostles preached) is accursed! Beware for in the last days strong delusion will come. Please stand up for the true Word of God and make sure people aren't deceived
You may find the book "Truth in Translation - Accurracy & Bias in English Translations of the NT" interesting because it educates sincere bible students about errors in translations that lead to errors in understanding. You mention that the NWT has "changed" scripture - is it not possible that the NWT actually "corrects" scriptures that other translators have "changed"? Do some more research and will get a better understanding of truth versus bias.
Trinitarians are allowed to excuse themselves from logic due to "the nature of God. " Non Trinitarians aren't. Nobody has to. Simple logic tell us all that 'infinity' makes more sense than 'no infinity'. Judge a tree by the appearance of its 'own' leaves. Our Brochure : "Is God a Trinity?" put out by Jehovah's Witnesses.
So all the times the bible says Jesus is God's son is meaningless?
What about the part where Jesus told people not to bow down to him and that all his powers were from his Father? Or the time that Jesus said only His father knew the date of the end? Or the time Jesus was tempted by Satan... Or that Jesus cried blood from the strain of letting his Father down?
Come on... I'm not buying this Jesus is God story one bit.
There are verses that go both ways, some pointing towards Jesus' godhead and also other verses pointing towards Jesus lower position below the father in heaven.
in the didichae it calls jesus the messiah a PROPHET of G-d! is that so wrong? no...i can debate anyone on this matter...i study with rabbis so do not tell me im wrong...research these facts for yourselves! lol satan is the liar lol...no im sorry we are the ones that are lying to ourselves not satan lying to us thank you.
@yomamasofat87 your wrong, and this is why. The Jews will never except that Jesus is God, so hanging our with a Rabbi isn't going to help your understanding. Its like me hanging out with a Republican to learn about Democrats. A little biased, yes?
@SylarDX85 if joshua was god then y did he pray to god? .....jesus is not god and u wont find any of this evidence in the Tanakh no where christian bible and hebrew bible are very different...joshua never once claimed to be god....and the romans are the ones that crucified him...the jews where not allowed to because THERE WAS NO TEMPLE! and i dont hang around rabbis....i do my research and i study the bible in hebrew and greek.
Matthew 15:22 And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed."
Matthew 15:23 But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, "Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us."
Matthew 15:24 But He answered and said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
matthew 18:17 And if he refuse to hear them, tell it unto the church: and if he refuse to hear the church also, let him be unto thee as the Gentile and the publican.
Mark 7:26 Now the woman happened to be a Greek, born in Phoenicia in Syria. She kept asking him to drive the demon out of her daughter.
Mark 7:27 Jesus told her, "First I should feed the children--my own family, the Jews. It isn't right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs."
lol u probly beleive that lucifer is the devil and satan and beelzebub and that there is a fiery pit of damnation for ppl hahaha....man i was just like you once believing all those lies...im an ex christian man n im more alert about things then i have ever been in the past. i see the world and the way i live my life in a whole new way...and i don't believe that yahushua ever created a new religion....uhm wasen't jesus jewish not chrisitan....you know that jesus doesn't like gentiles?
i it the first i am or the first i am...because the first i am delcares yah's divinity the second one means that he exists....did you catch that? ignorance is bliss my dude!
Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
so i have a question? if you believe that jesus is g-d then......y don't you obey all of jesus(g-ds) commandments? oh i know i know because you don't beleive that lie either, because other wise you wouldn't question his authority or go against what messiah yahushua says. oh but you do!
and you don't beleive what the messiah says but u beleive everything that paul teaches don't you? and john but even in john it never says that messiah yahushua was god so iono wer u getting ur facts from?
Number 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
Hosea 11:19 I will not carry out my fierce anger, nor will I turn and devastate Ephraim. For I am God, and not man--the Holy One among you. I will not come in wrath.
Hosea 13:4 "But I am the LORD your God, [who brought you] out of Egypt. You shall acknowledge no God but me, no Savior except me.
well yeah its true and they are right in doing so! your precious jesus is not a god....he was created by g-d....and g-d would not sacrifice himself for us, this teaching only occurs in the gospels and is found no where in the tanakh(hebrew bible). further almost everytime god talks about him self as being g-d he says that he is NOT A MAN!...show me any where in the bible that it says that he is only using the old testament. you wont because the new testament contradicts the old.
I don't think this guy believes in anything like he said in his open argument his going after all religion. He puts all his energy I guess in disclaiming God. Let's put this way: By what authority and or standard does he speak by? The language that he speaks by is not promoting the Bible's healthful teaching.
Actually, if one were to review the original koine Greek text at Matthew 20:28, the Greek word ψυχή (psy·khe′: soul) occurs there. Therefore, the rendering is not in any way "satanic" or "anti-Christ (like)." Another danger of jumping to the wrong conclusions.
Dr. James Moffatt was on the Revised Standard Version Bible Committee, and note how he translates John 8:58 in his own version: Truly, truly I tell you, said Jesus, I have existed before Abraham was born.
(It is interesting that The Catholic Encyclopedia [1913, Vol. VIII, p. 329] states: Jehovah, the proper name of God in the Old Testament; hence the Jews called it the name by excellence, the great name, the only name.)
(6:54) Actually, regarding the term "cross," stauros in Koine Greek means stake. So is was not the New World Translation that error there. (8:07-8:21)
If you have questions about a certain rendering you can always write the Watchtower society, they have published much information explain these common misconceptions and are willing to help kind and sincere persons.
dude, you have no idea what you are talking about. you're comparing the catholic bible to the new world translation...compare them to the original text then draw your arguement.
Jesus never claimed to be God, saying that God is greater than he, also praying to God saying that God knew things that he did not. He actually claimed that greater things would be done by man. With out question he is the Son of God which gives him divine heritage.
It says clearly in the bible he claimed to be God. That is why they took up stones to stone him. Jesus asks for which of these things do you stone me for? They said that you being a man make yourself God. Go read your bible.
Krustbox: A recent (2003) book by Jason Beduhn entitled Truth in Translation: Accuracy and Bias in English Translations of the New Testament. Dr Beduhn teaches at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. He holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Illinois, an M.T.S. in New Testament and Christian Origins form Harvard Divinity School, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Study of Religions form Indiana University, Bloomington. His book compares 9 popular English translations...
viewing selected verses, and concludes that the New World Translation is the most accurate, the most free of bias! John 1:1 is among the verses he examines. He writes:
"Surprisingly, only one, the NW, adheres to the literal meaning of the Greek, and translates "a god." "Translators of the KJV, NRSV, NIV, NAB, NASB, AB, TEV and LB all approached the text at John 1:1 already believing certain things about the Word... and made sure that the translations came out in accordance with their beliefs."
He also responds to those who charge the NWT translators with doctrinal bias: "It may very well be that the NW translators came to the task of translating John 1:1 with as much bias as the other translators did. It just so happens that their bias corresponds in this case to a more accurate translation of the Greek"
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21That they all may be one; as Thou, Father, art in me, and I in Thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that Thou hast sent me.
@Krustbox 22And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:23I in them, and Thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that Thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved me.
I have done extensive research on many denominations of Christianity and I must say that many of your postulates are inaccurate and your methods of comparison is neither balanced nor logical. You are using the Douay version of the bible as if it is the "true text" with out reference to the original Greek or Hebrew text. In reference to Christ being more than the son of God, which the Bible specifically states please research "The Johannine Comma"
In Matt. xxi. 12 we read that Jesus cast out all those that were selling and buying in the temple, τοὺς πωλοῦντας καὶ ἀγοράζοντας [tous po·loun′tas kai a·go·ra′zon·tas]. No one can reasonably suppose that the same persons are here described as both selling and buying.
Regarding of 2 Peter 1:1, 2. Examples of this construction in the Greek text are found in Ac 13:50; 15:22; Eph 5:5; 2Th 1:12; 1Ti 5:21; 6:13; 2Ti 4:1. This construction is also found in LXX. (See Pr 24:21 ftn.)
Regarding: - The Catholic Encyclopedia, edition of 1908, Vol. 4, page 517; the footnote on pages 312, 313. - The Catholic Digest magazine, May, 1948, page 108.
De cruce libri tres, Antwerp, 1629, p. 19, one such (non-cross) instrument of torture is illustrated by Justus Lipsius - 1547-1606.
by Varus (Jos. Ant. XVII 10. 10), by Quadratus (Jewish Wars II 12. 6), by the Procurator Felix (Jewish Wars II 15. 2), by Titus (Jewish Wars VII. 1). Quote a reference source: "Anything other than a simple hanging is ruled out by the wholesale manner in which this execution was often carried out: 2000 at once by Varus"
Jehovah's Witnesses have done an intense study on im·pale′ment. - Galatians 3:13; and Deuteronomy 21:22, 23. Compare: John 3:13-15; and Numbers 21:4-9; Ezra 6:11 are really good scriptures if read in Koine Greek.
Additionally according to the customary meaning of firstborn, it indicates that Jesus is the eldest in Jehovahs (Or as some address as Yahweh's) family of sons.
Not to argue to clarify something here: Jehovah's Witnesses acknowledge the Sons share in the creative works. The power for creation came from God through his holy spirit, or active force. (Ge 1:2; Ps 33:6) Since Jehovah is the Source of all life, all animate creation, visible and invisible, owes its life to him. (Ps 36:9) the Son was the agent or instrumentality through whom Jehovah, the Creator, worked. —Mt 19:4-6; Gen 1:28; Pr 8:30, 31; John 1:3; 17:5.
The Greek word here rendered all things is pan′ta, an inflected form of pas. At Luke 13:2, RS renders this all . . . other; JB reads any other; NE says anyone else. In harmony with everything else that the Bible says regarding the Son, NW assigns the same meaning to pan′ta at Colossians 1:16, 17
Actually the New World Transation footnotes in the reference edition as:
Ask, ADIt and in agreement with 15:16 and 16:23; P66אBWVgSyh,p, ask me. Additionally they acknowledge discrepancy between the text in Kingdom Interlinear translation of Greek Scriptures.
So, The Greek verb there used, eimi′, is literally in the present tense, but in view of its being preceded by the aorist infinitive clause which refers to Abrahams past, the Greek verb eimi′ must be viewed as a historical present.

The next time she comes over I will show her this and see how she can explain it.
read what the bible says about changing the bible....Revelation 22:18-19

...So either way there is no wrong done.

TruthSeekingOne 6 months ago
1:37 That is false. The Watchtower OFTEN quotes other Bible translations, I can give you a ton of examples if you want them.
2:40 Jesus WAS a created being according to Colossians 1:15 and Revelation 3:14.
In John 8:58 the term "I am" is correct, BUT it is also correct to say "I exist" and since he is talking about the past, you could easily decipher that Jesus was telling them that he existed in the heavens before his birth as a human, which is the JW teaching.
TruthSeekingOne 6 months ago

BibleTranslation 9 months ago
In 1199 Pope Innocent III wrote such a strong letter to the archbishop of Metz, Germany, that the archbishop burned all the German-language Bibles he could find. In 1229 the synod of Toulouse, France, decreed that “lay people” could not possess any Bible books in the common tongue. In 1233 a provincial synod of Tarragona, Spain, commanded that all books of “the Old or New Testament” be handed over to be burned.
BibleTranslation 9 months ago

BibleTranslation 9 months ago
(8:02 in) Error (9) torture stake or cross? Even I am not so bold to say one way or the other. From my investigation, it is about 50 percent either way. However, he is Catholic and they are into worshiping and showing extreme reverence for icons and images. Let us see if that is Biblical? Also, let us look at 1 Cor 15:27-28 (ESV) For "God has put all things in subjection under his feet." But when it says, "all things are put in subjection," it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.

Thus, "all" is being used as hyperbole here, there is no way that Jesus created ALL things, because he did not create the Father, nor did he create himself. If we are using the word in an ALL encompassing way, this is what it would mean. CONTINUED . . .
BibleTranslation 9 months ago

BibleTranslation 9 months ago
(4:40 in) Error (7) Here is he talking about John 14:14. This is going to deal with textual criticism, another subject this guy obviously does not know. First, notice the capitalization of "ME" in the DR Bible. There is not justifiable reason to capitalize that. Now, this is based on textual evidence. The overwhelming evidence is that "me" should be in the text, and limited evidence shows that it should not be there. So, in this case, they are making a decision that could be attributed as bias.
BibleTranslation 9 months ago
(3:56 in) Error (6) He says ALL other translations render John 8:58 like the DR Bible 1610. Not true at all. Most do, but some do not. But this just shows he has not researched his subject at all. He knows no Greek, has never studied Bible translation, does not know the history of the English Bible. What gives him the right to evaluate anything. Here is theological bias, the translators who capitalize I AM, wanting it to be a title, and link it to Ex 3:14
BibleTranslation 9 months ago
look at verse 57 from the ESV: Jews said to him, So the Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?" Therefore, the context is about Jesus age, not who he is. Therefore, in verse 58, when Jesus that said that he had been around before Abraham (age), they chose to stone him. He was claiming to be a divine person, giving him more authority than the religious leaders, worthy of stoning in their eyes. So, this guy is wrong on context too.
BibleTranslation 9 months ago

Why?
BibleTranslation 9 months ago

We don't need to read the greek to understand the full context of scripture. God made it clear. And clearly the Jehovah's witnesses is a heretical religion full of false hoods. And you can read this in the greek. Paul said anyone who preaches another gospal other than the one I preach let him be accursed. The apostle John, in the context of the introduction to his Gospel, is pulling all the stops out of language to portray not only the deity of Christ, but also his equality with the Father. @witness96 2a If the Greek article occurred with both Word and God in John 1:1, the implication would be that they are one and the same person, absolutely identical. Hmm, they are removing history again, by writing torture stake instead of cross, our descendants will not be able to connect it with the Zodiac Cross of which Jesus was killed in the age of the Fish, the age of the Savior, just like Krishna in the age of the Twin, the age of the Savior.
Crab=Creator, Twins=Savior, Bull=Destroyer. Like Ram=Creator(God), Fish=Savior(Jesus) and Water=Destroyer, but who will it be ?

Fourth, John 8:58, Jesus used the phrase "ego eimi" ... which DOES translate to "I am" but that doesn't mean it's the same phrase translated as "I AM" in the OT. It simply means "I am" or "I am being" or "I continue to be" ... it's not a name. Look at Mark 1:7 where John the Baptist says "I am not fit to stoop and untie the laces of his sandals"
... John said "I am"... do you believe John is God as well?
dasgregorian 1 year ago
@dasgregorian Actually someone saying just I AM, was word for I AM GOD, I AM the all Mighty. Just because you I am in the middle of a sentence does not mean John was saying he was God, because he wasn't. Back than, saying I AM was good enough as I am God. Why do you think the jews killed him? because he was good looking? No..Blasphemy! Truly Truly I say to you, before the world was... I AM! And the Jews picked up stones to kill him! (Claimed he was God, and he is).
SylarDX85 1 year ago
@SylarDX85 Think about the context for just a moment. Assume the statement "I am" was to be translated as God's name (YHWH). Read the context starting in verse 56. Jesus is speaking of the fact that Abraham "rejoiced greatly in the prospect of seeing my day." The jews claimed he wasn't old enough to have seen abraham... and Jesus responds: "Before Abraham was, YHWH."
... does that contextually make any sense? No. But, if Jesus responded "I have been since before Abraham." Makes sense.
dasgregorian 1 year ago
@dasgregorian Completely backwards, but thats ok. Any biblical scholar will tell you what the words "I AM" means. Once this was said.. why did the jews pick up stones to kill him? In John 8:58, when quizzed about how he has special knowledge of Abraham, Jesus replies, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I Am"—invoking and applying to himself the personal name of God—"I Am" (Ex. 3:14). His audience understood exactly what he was claiming about himself.

Then, feel free to apologize.
dasgregorian 1 year ago

OneTrueChurch:
You may find the book "Truth in Translation - Accurracy & Bias in English Translations of the NT" interesting because it educates sincere bible students about errors in translations that lead to errors in understanding. You mention that the NWT has "changed" scripture - is it not possible that the NWT actually "corrects" scriptures that other translators have "changed"? Do some more research and will get a better understanding of truth versus bias.

Actually, if one were to review the original koine Greek text at Matthew 20:28, the Greek word ψυχή (psy·khe′: soul) occurs there. Therefore, the rendering is not in any way "satanic" or "anti-Christ (like)." Another danger of jumping to the wrong conclusions.

viewing selected verses, and concludes that the New World Translation is the most accurate, the most free of bias! John 1:1 is among the verses he examines. He writes:
"Surprisingly, only one, the NW, adheres to the literal meaning of the Greek, and translates "a god." "Translators of the KJV, NRSV, NIV, NAB, NASB, AB, TEV and LB all approached the text at John 1:1 already believing certain things about the Word... and made sure that the translations came out in accordance with their beliefs."
renzy79 2 years ago
He also responds to those who charge the NWT translators with doctrinal bias: "It may very well be that the NW translators came to the task of translating John 1:1 with as much bias as the other translators did. It just so happens that their bias corresponds in this case to a more accurate translation of the Greek"

@Krustbox -This is pretty strong stuff:
- That they all may be one; as Thou, Father, art in me, and I in Thee

Not to argue to clarify something here: Jehovah's Witnesses acknowledge the Sons share in the creative works. The power for creation came from God through his holy spirit, or active force. (Ge 1:2; Ps 33:6) Since Jehovah is the Source of all life, all animate creation, visible and invisible, owes its life to him. (Ps 36:9) the Son was the agent or instrumentality through whom Jehovah, the Creator, worked. —Mt 19:4-6; Gen 1:28; Pr 8:30, 31; John 1:3; 17:5.
