  • and this year warrior isnt getting nominated for best picture WTF!!!!!

  • when Superman the movie was snubbed for best pictyre i was anoyed, nut when The Dark Knight was snubbed i was outraged >:o

  • CHristopher SUNBBED!

  • Even to this day I'm still a little upset about this outrageous thing, this is like my fav movie along with the godfather and shawshank, the dark knight should have replaces frost Nixon in the best picture category

  • The fact that The Dark Knight was snubbed for BEst Picture is why there are now 10 nominees in that category in the years that have followed - just in an attempt to get more viewers, but still...

...also I can't believe Nolan was snubbed as director for both The Dark Knight and Inception. Seriosuly....

  • The Dark Knight and Doubt both deserved best picture and director noms. Benjamin Button and The Reader? Get that shit outta there.

  • Usually you get an Oscar Nomination for best picture if that film is also nominated for best Screenplay...:P

  • from where did you get the music? :D

  • thank u for liking my movie i wrote...and it does suck that it was robbed of an oscar nom. for best picture and best original picture...i wrote it so it and i appreciate everyone who loved it. i am thankful for what it one though BUT cant say i am not disappointed it didnt get the big prize though..WE WERE ROBBED!!

  • Yeas! The Dark Knight Should have been Nominated!!!

  • The Oscars honor GOOD movies, not shitty movies like The Dark Knight.

  • @ItBrandonSilver well it should have atleast been nominated for best director...

  • Comment removed

  • @ItBrandonSilver How could you say that! The Dark Knight is one of the best movies ever made, Christopher Nolan is pure geinus! It is not just another comic book movie. IT IS A MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!

  • that's why they changed the number of nominees from 5 to 10 because of these situations...the oscars used to be the most watched awards in tv but in recent years it's kind of declining that's why they it to 10 ....they will probably have a nod for avatar for best picture

  • if it was released in this year, it would get BP easy. buncha crap movies realesed this year

  • Yeah, the wrong film got the oscar that year, and the film that should've done, didn't even get nominated.

But that film wasn't The Dark Knight, it was The Wrestler. Heath Ledger deserved the oscar for best supporting actor, but there were too many flaws elsewhere for the Dark Knight to earn the best picture oscar.

The Wrestler should have cleaned up. Best picture, best actor, best actress, best director, in the bag, surely? But no. Slumdog bloody Millionaire won. Rubbish.

  • The overarching theme of the Dark Knight is Good vs. Evil, which is not a theme that gets Oscar peeps particularly excited about. They would rather praise movies that fit with their social agenda; movies like Milk (obvious), Benjamin Button (a temporal interpretation of life), and others... sad. I wish someone would start a reputable movie awards organization; maybe one based on how entertaining the movie is...

  • MTV

  • I liked it but I dont care that much

  • my only problem with dark knight is a bit to long and batmans voice but other then that great movie and even with the flaws best movie I have ever seen

  • @rocker1296 there wasn't any flaws

  • you mean besides the one I mentioned cause it was a bit to long I mean yeah it's more time for the awesomebut if someone needs to do something and want to see a movie they might have to skip dark knight and the voice everyone makes a joke about the voice

  • @rocker1296 There is a reason why he use this voice. And the movie is so long because of the story. Why do you want a 80-Minutes-Mainstream-Action Movie without any deepness and charakter study?

  • One BILLION worldwide. Five-hundred and forty million domestic.

If Batman were gay, it would have been on the list for Best Picture.

TDK revolutionized Super Hero films and action flicks, both of which will never go away, ESPECIALLY the latter. It had more ticked admissions than the Oscars has had in recent years.

Instead, the fifth spot goes to some "Reader" garbage. Outrageous.

Denzel gets "Training Day" over "Malcolm X", and now this. Disgusting.

  • The Dark Knight is the best movie ever made. Nuff' said.

  • Are you on crack?

  • I guess that was an overstatement, but it still deserved a Best Picture award. It beats the shit out of Slumdog Millionaire.

  • It was the Best Picture of 2008 like WTF?!

    Fawking Rip-Off Man!!!

It Ran Up the Box Offices what the hell do you want them to do after????!!!

    That's fawking Bull, no Respect.

  • I lost alot of respect for the oscars after this. Benjamin Button was actually terrible.

  • I've got 2 words why it wasn't there: Slumdog Millionaire

  • Slumdog was a decent movie at best. It had so many slow parts and jumped back and forth so much it was hard to follow the timeline. Plus the story not that great.

  • The Dark Knight was an ejoyable popcorn film. No one who really knew the Academy thought that it had any chance to get a nomination

  • It got nominated for tons of other awards including 8 oscar noms. It was in serious consideration from the academy(something academy insiders have said) so obviously it did have a chance.

  • Wrong. If you were to really follow Oscar buzz, you could clearly tell that its chances were very slim. Buzz for Nolan getting a directing nomination was there but almost zero buzz for picture. I can think of about 4 to 5 films that did not get nominated that had stronger buzz. WALL*E would have gotten nominated before Dark Knight. All of the buzz for Dark Knight came directly from fans, not the Academy.

  • Compeltely wrong, after it got noms from other award outlets like critics choice and things like that all the insiders were saying it was a sure nom, the academy changed it's best picture outlet to 10 nominess instead of 5 because of TDK. All the critics were talking about how shocked they would be if TDK did not get a nomination for best picture. And after it didn't get a nom all the insiders came on shows like Today show and mentioned how stunned they were that it was snubbed.

  • Hell even on Youtube there are videos of critics mentioning how suprised they are that TDK was not nominated for best picture.

  • Where do you get your info ? Many critics expressed their disbelief that TDK was not nominated, Roeper for one said when he reviewed the film that it should be seriously considered for best picture. On here there are also many videos of different media outlets talking about their disbelief that TDK didn't get the nom. TDK was expected to take the final slot that eventually went to The reader- many Academy insiders mentioned this.

  • Yeah but if your nominated for almost every category and don't get a nom for best picture or director( which all the things it did get nominated for are the directors final call) something's wrong

  • The Oscars have no Respect for Action or Comedy Movies, despite several critically acclaimed actors stating that both genres are much harder to pull off.

Yes, the Dark Knight should of been the best pictures of the year.

  • exactly the oscars suck they pick movies ppl never heard of and always gotta nominate the fag movies

  • Comment removed

  • I know i will be called plenty of nasty names but I thought TDK was over rated. my problem was that is was too long with a week story for the money involved in making it

It is still a great film and technicly one of the best films make to date, however in my opinion to win an award especially an Oscar the film should be more compelling than TDK which in reality is little more than a big budget action fim which already has its demographic ready and waiting for its screening.

  • if they have nominated TDK I would stop appreciating film and the little respect i had for the academy would be gone.

  • Yes! this movie should have been nominated it is best superhero movies I have ever seen

  • i agree, I saw this 3 times in theaters, 8 times on DVD. Favorite movie of all times. Should have not only be nominated, should have won best picture. Slumdog Millionaire was good but, meh. Did not enjoy it so much, got bored a couple of times, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time with Dark Knight, was almost exausted at the end.

  • I agree! THe Dark Knight Was snubbed and was one of the best movies of 2008!

    Bruce Springsteen was also nomitated!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • (obvoiously they only gave heath ledger it because he was dead)----> Obviously you haven't see the movie and/or you're a fucking retarded bastard

  • Son, you don't get oscars just because you are dead, if you did than Bernie Mac would have won it for Soul men not to mention Brandon lee for the Crow and Aaliyah for QOTD. Ledger won it because he gave the best performance of the year, a performance in which he drastically transformed everything from his voice to his laugh to his mannerisms.

  • Plus that's an iconic role that will be remembered and quoted still 50 years from now.

  • Yeah, I figure if a long boring movie like LOTR can win oscars, I reckon a movie of such depth as The Dark Knight should at least get a nomination. At the very least, I say...

  • THE DARK KNGHT IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER

  • @archounduser10 thank u that means alot...seriously i wrote it so that means a lot...

  • @thonentra yeah dude i got so pissed when it didnt when there has been movies competing with the dark knight etc inception lol chris is genius but dark knight still wins for it being amazing

  • If anything killed it's chances, it was Bale's horrible "disguised" voice, Gyllenhall's flat performance, a bloated running time, and an opening sequence that was nearly lifted directly from "Heat" (a flick that really got screwed out of a best picture nomination.

best actors of its generation, lots of top ten lists, zero nominations.)

  • Zero nominations ? Are you talking about TDK ? it got 8 Oscar noms.

  • TDK got 8 oscers yes but didnt get best picture

  • it was hardly the best film ever, as some fans want to believe. I liked it, but I can think of around 20 that are better off the top of my head, IMO. Raging Bull, Cool Hand Luke, Cuckoo's Nest, Rocky, Goodfellas, The Hustler, Glengarry Glen Ross, Unforgiven, Dirty Harry, Platoon, Do the Right Thing, Last Detail, Psycho, Pulp Fiction, Shawshank, Boogie Nights, Good, the Bad, and The Ugly, Usual Suspects, Clockwork Orange, Dr. Strangelove, and Nolan's real masterpiece, Memento.

  • the oscars are biased towreds superhero movies. not even "the incredible hulk" was nominated for best special effects and "the hulk" was when it came out and i think it won! it's even biased towards things like transformers and how it didn't win best special effects.

  • AG, I watched the Dark Knight and I really wouldn't give it more than 7.5/10. No joke - it wasn't all that great. I found a lot of things that sucked and it was over-hyped by fans and actually nothing of the OMG factor to be found in the movie.

  • Titanic still beat it by 800 million! What else do you want? The Dark Knight had 8 nominations!

  • for real thevoice i still cant beleive metallica got snubbed

  • The Oscars are just like the Grammy's and the Emmy's. They give the awards to people who don't deserve them. The Dark Knight not getting nominated for best picture, and also not even winning half of the awards that it WAS nominated for is like the equivalent of Jethro Tull getting a grammy over Metallica for best metal performance.

  • The sound mixing was by no means horrible. The vfx were good for explosions and weren't directed towards much else.

  • you just have to say... way too fucking much.

i mean i completely agree with you, but that was 4 minutes worth of watching stretched over 9 minutes. hire an editor.

  • I know how you feel about this one. Snubbed...the academy "dropped the ball" on this one. A goddamn bowling ball.

  • someone on here was saying people just dont get it. i dont think some people here get that this movie wasnt that good. the heath fan boys out there (because he died) make no sense. maybe if more people cry about it on youtube they will give him a oscar ...

  • How dare you! Heath deserved that oscar, and not because he's dead! It's because he had skill, technique and ability! The Dark Knight had some SPLENDID Acting, writing, Directing AND Art direction! It was robbed of a nomination for Best Picture, and Christopher Nolan was robbed of even a nomination of Best Director. It was THE finest movie of 08!!! I have almost lost ALL faith in the oscars, and I'm glad they have a new president, maybe he'll knock some sense into them! Bless you Movie Messenger

  • P.S. that was meant to be a reply to someone, and yeah... Dark Knight was snubbed like nothing else.

  • how dare i?! how dare you! just because someone dies doesnt make them the best ever. there were a lot of other movies made in that year that honestly were way better just didnt get the puplic attention that DK got due to the death. Fair and Square.

  • Honestly were way better, by who's standards, yourse?

  • You know, 1: There was hype before Heath's death. 2: The movie truly was one of the greatest in 2008, and 3:... I'm just not interested in bickering, you're free to your opinion, but I remind you to check your motive. See the movie again, with an open mind. To me, the more I watch it, the more I love it, and the more I feel it was robbed of a few other oscar nominations. Trust me, like the Shawshank Redemption, Citizen Kane (which was at least nominated) and a few others, It was robbed.

  • By the way: OF COURSE Heath wasn't THE finest because of his death! He was however, *one of the finest* because of his acting ability. His skill, his dedication! No such thing as THE finest Actor or Actress (though people like Alec Guiness and Katherine Hepburn come close.) Heath Deserved the awards and the praise, as did many others in 08, but DK... Well, the academy will get the idea someday. Believe what you want mate, and you're entitled to your opinion, but I am over the slander on Heath!

  • actually, i think heath did deserve the oscar, and i dont think its a case of "just cuz he's dead".

id probably go as far as saying that your only objecting to it because he's dead. maybe not intentionally, but as a kneejerk reaction.

  • Wasn't that good ? It got perfect reviews and 8 Oscar noms. Empire voted it as the 15th best film ever. Ledger got the Oscar already for his brilliant performance so what are you bitching about ?

  • No retard it was a great film and Ledger was great in it, this is the general consensus. Nobody gives a shit what you have to say on the matter. Perfect reviews, 8 Oscar noms and ranked as the 15th best film ever by Empire, it's even being recognized by the AFI. Get over it. As for Ledger, univerasally regarded as a great actor, once again get over it.

  • I'm crying ? LOL you are the one who can't accept the facts. Judging by your comment you are either a preteen or an adult with serious immaturity problems. Grow up.

  • aw there there, its ok. dont let the mean ole people on the internet make you cry. its ok man. just ignore the people u dont agree with. no need to get upset over something.

  • You internet posers are funny. You don't know how the real world works. Nobody gives a shit what you think and nobody will remember your opinion. TDk and Ledger will be remembered as great, get over it.

  • The oscars are biased against action/superhero movies. If you combined the length of stay of all the "best picture" nominees they would be less than the dark knights theater time. It played into october in my town!!

  • You forgot to mention Clint Eastwood being snubbed for best actor in Gran Torino.

  • Wall-E was snubbed for Best Picture aswell.

  • Yep, the tally for animated pictures to even get nominated for best picture still sits at one (Beauty & the Beast). What the heck do they have to do to get nominated, join the "Kiss the academy's ass club?" -sigh-

  • That was hardly a best picture film.

  • Special effects does nok make the best picture.

Filmmakers around the world takes alot of awards for the stories they tell, the way they tell it and so on, and guess what, 99 out of 100 films is not superhero movie. I don't think the film is "snubbed" because it's a superhero movie. It's probably because the actual story is pretty boring, but hey, it's great action and entertainment. But i don't really get anyhing out of the story of the film.

  • Cold Mountain got snubbed for best picture in for 2003 for Master and Commander.

The Dark Knight didn't get nominated because it was a superhero movie. It got nominated because five movies came out at the end of the year that were "good" enough to make it to the list.

I know how you feel. I loved Cold Mountain and it got snubbed for Masterbater and Commander. My wife saw that movie and she didn't really like it.

It happens every year. Get over it.

  • I wonder how did benjamin button beat ironman, Indiana jones 4 and the dark knight in special effects. indiana jones should have won.

  • milk is about a gay polititian. I know I Can't Believe It Either

  • if lord of the rings can get an oscar why dark knight can't? i recently was talking to a guy who told me that he has not seen the dark knight yet but he won't see it anyway because is a super hero movie...just some people don't get it

  • I can't belive dark knight didn't win best cinematography..

  • Wall-e was also snubbed for best film, but who cares? look how long it took them to recognize scorsese.... hitchcock never won an oscar... and let's not forget that bill murray was snubbed for groundhog's day. The academy is run by snooty people, who's to say they know what the film of the year is?

  • Dude you definitely have too much time on your hands.

  • I really don't actually...

  • @juljuirt Dude you definitely need to be more original.

  • Yes Dark Knight snubbed! Yes, lame! also: Defiance, Yes Man, and Revolutionary Road....on and on it goes. So, deal with it.

  • Defiance sucked ass man. it sucked donkey's ass. The Dark Knight was the best film I saw last year.

  • It was beneath you, huh? Did I say it was better? no, so grow up "jazzyjerk-off!

  • dude, you're turning into a joker lol

    Those high brow Oscar elitists.

  • The Dark Knight should have definitely been nominated the best picture and best director!

  • yo go to hell and go watch barney

  • I have to dissagre with you. The cinimatography was fantastic, it had emotional impact, mostly great acting, thrilling scenes, an epic story, and you can watch it multiple times. How is it different from no country for old men? Sure the plot is different, but the things that make them both great are similar.

  • he right the dark knight should have been the best picture it the greatest movie ever and Chris Nolan should have been best DIRECTING but Heath Ledger won a Bafta so he will get an OSCARS

  • I agree with you, but you're boring dude.

  • Typical Academy genrephobia.

    My Best Film pick :

    In Bruges

    Slumdog Millionaire

    The Dark Knight

    W.A.L.L.-E.

    Waltz with Bashir

  • The best movie should of been dark knight

but since its not slumdog should win

  • I heard Slumdog was good. I tried to see it, but the line was so long last week for the new releases.

  • Umm...my reply didn't work...

  • just remember to breath....

  • The Dark Knight and LOTR: ROTK nearly toppled Titanic. Damn! Fuck the Oscars. I'm sticking with MTV Movie Awards.

  • OF COURSE IT SHOULDA GOT NOMINATED! IT NEARLY TOPPED TITANIC(which sucked btw)!

  • It's good it didn't get a nominee. It's not a feel good movie. It's not a good kids movie. Kids and not many girls would see this movie. Other movies deserve it more. That movie isn't as good as everyone says. Yeah, it's good, but not amazing. It's great. I wouldn't see it again. One time seeing it is enough.

  • You're wrong. A lot of girls liked the movie, even kids.

Look at No Country for Old Men, kids will not like that movie, but it actually WON best picture.

The Dark Knight was the movie of the year. It is amazing, you just didn't like it as much as most others.

  • I didn't like it as much as others, like many other people didn't like it that much.

  • What does being a feel god movie have to do with the Oscars ? Take a look at this year's nominees for best picture- The reader, Milk, Doubt, Slumdog, Benjamin Button, none of those films is really a feel good movie made for kids and girls. Most films that win Oscars are not kids movies.

  • I don't think nominations for cinematography, art direction, best supporting actor, makeup, sound editing, and sound mixing, would exactly constitute a snub... For an action movie I'd say the Academy is giving it an unusual amount of kudos. It is nominated for so many technical things, because those are what make it such a brilliant film (and Heath). It seems Best Picture nominees are typically films that ask evocative questions about the world around us, and have tech stuff backing it up

  • Dark Knight was very good, but i don't think it was as mind blowing as everyone made it out to be.

The most glaring snub is however Changeling. Clint Eastwood is the most effiecient directors in the business and produced an amazing piece of drama and true story telling.

The reader and milk i'm really not sure of, winslets performance is over-rated.

The nominees should definatly have been

    Slumdog Millionaire

    Changeling

    WALL-E

    Frost/Nixon

    The Wrestler.

    Slumdog to win.

  • i watched all of them and i think slumdog millionaire was the best

  • Here are the true nominies (In ABC order)

    The Dark Knight

    Frost/Nixon

    Milk

    Slumdog Millionaire

    The Wrestler

But ofcourse, the Oscars only mainly choose the most boring/depressing drama films of the year that no one even like too much.

  • so true. i mean look at titanic... its an emo-ish story. dude falls for chick, they together for a while, boat sinks, gets overdramatized, dude dies, old chick throws jewlery in the water. just hope this dont mean nolan wont come back to direct a 3rd when the time comes... if shumacher returns i will riot.

  • watched it 5times gonna watch in imax bought the 2in1 dvd with batman begins and im gonna gt normal edition

**** u oscars best film ever wtf y aint it there now im serious wow freaking out

  • Dark Knight fans should still watch the Oscars because it will win more awards Than The Reader, and possibly even more than Benjamin Button. Heath Ledger is almost certain to win for Supporting Actor, and that will be an emotional moment.

  • well I'm boycotting the oscars anyway. Not on purpose though. Because I have a party to attend so I can't watch the Oscars. I'll just check online to see if Heath Ledger won.

  • i think benjamin button shoundn't have gotten the nomination for best pic, like it was just moved so slow and was really boring and depressing. y does the academy have it out for any block busters

  • Well Titanic and Return of the King were huge blockbusters that dominated the Oscars. It's not blockbusters in general, but certain kinds, particularly science fiction and super hero, that the Academy has a bias against. And they love anything to do with the Holocaust or someone who's mentally retarded.

  • so true

  • lmao

  • I fucking love THE DARK KNIGHT. I totally agree with you. I'm looking forward on your next reviews. P.S. I saw your vids on HD, it looked awesome!!!!

  • The Dark knight is the best movie ever!

    And I don't even like Batman/Superhero movies!

  • I also saw Shakespeare in Love and Saving Private Ryan. Ryan got the ultimate snub.

  • The Dark Knight:

    94% Rotten Tomatoes

    82% Metacritic

    Benjamin Button:

    71% Rotten Tomatoes

    70% Metacritic

    Any questions?

  • No dude the Reader was the worst nomination of all. It wasn't on NBR or AFI top ten list Dark Knight was. It wasn't nominated for the Director, producer, and writers guild Dark Knight was. The reader is practically a flop(box office mojo). I have no issues with Benjamin Button(although TDK was better Button isn't bad).

    the reader rotten tomatoes

    60%

    metacritic

    58

    The Dark Knight:

    94% Rotten Tomatoes

    82% Metacritic

I'm rooting for Heath Ledger, penelope cruz, and slumdog millionaire.

  • You're absolutely right. The point that I was trying to make was the Dark Knight was better than at least Benjamin Button to make the Oscar. But yeah, why the Reader was nominated despite being critically split is beyond me. Thanks for the correction

  • Yeah no problem. It's just that I liked benjamin button that's all(not more than the dark knight of course). But I feel that Slumdog millionaire(good movie almost equal to TDK but not quite in my opinion), and benjamin button deserve their nominations. As for the reader I thought it sucked(not just from my perspective but critics as well). and Frost/Nixon and Milk I have yet to see so therefore I cannot judge.

  • good call

  • Dark Knight should have been nominated

  • Slumdog Millionaire was fucking stupid IMO. Entertaining, but stupid. I don't think it deserved a nomination.

  • stop being such a damned fanboy they both were amazing

  • The Wrestler was more of a snub than TDK

  • Thank you for making this!!

Geez. The Academy is made up a bunch of idiots. The Dark Knight is THE BEST MOVIE and for it to be snubbed like this is just retarded.

  • The Godfather is the best movie. Dark Knight is somewhere in the top 20 I can't decide

  • im sorry but against its competition this year the dark knight deserves best director and picture. the only reason that people are snubbing it is because the man dresses up a bat. tell why in the blue hell titanic gets an oscar and this doesnt... idiots.

  • it didnt deserve best picture

  • wow i havent seen it yet but thats pretty bad it look so good why are they so gay

  • Are any of you guys even watching the video anymore or just commenting on it arguing over something stupid.

  • Freaking idiots at the oscars...

  • The Oscars have sucked for the past few years now. Rarely do they nominate actual good movies for a category as righteous as Best Picture.

P.S. I'll bet you Ben Button sux.

  • "How can a film get nominated for all these other categories and not be Best Picture?"

Maybe because technical achievements don't make for a good storyline? And no, the Oscars are not too good for The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight is too bad for the Oscars, sorry to break it to you.

Superhero movie disguised as a serious crime drama.

"Most Pretentious and Overrated Movie of the Year" now that's an award it would be worthy of.

  • DTO stands for. DON'T TRUST OSCARS

  • i understand the BEST PICTURE for not nominating dark knight but nobody saw the reader coming. and the best dirctor for the reader was seriously retarded.

  • that movie sucked balls

  • WOW I mean just looking at all the comments on this page especially between deanriam and 1966Zodiac over a movies. jeez I mean come on guys they're just movies.

  • didnt deserve a best picture nom. walle did though

  • The Dark Knight wasnt that great...it was a good movie but nothing special at all!

    i'd say 6.5-7 out of 10

  • just your opinion... or you are just trying to get along with the academy.

  • I have just seen the first half of it, and I really liked what I saw. And to judge by my friends that have seen it, it's worthy the best picture award.

  • The Dark knight was Snubed

  • who fucking care.

    bullshit

  • Do you hear it?

The sound of fanboys screaming all over the world.

  • all 5 nominations combined have only grossed what the dark knight grossed on it's 5th day. I know the quality of a film isn't about how much money it makes but the dark knight is a perfect movie. shame on you oscars.

  • Damn Oscars they screwed up.

  • NO It doesn't it's the only "good" movie to come out latey

  • The Dark Knight is flawless.

The Oscars will loose so many viewers and it has almost lost it's credibility.

  • totally agree the dark knight is a true masterpiece the oscars will pay in views for this.

  • Right, because the ceremony is about viewers and not about awarding films, I love how people think it should've been nominated just so that the Oscars save their ratings and please the crowd... idiots!
