Not sure about the broken ribs. I stuck around to get his & the others autographs on some good old LP covers and Phil stated he was sick as a dog, but on the mend. Said they played Chicago the night before and he told the band before they hit the stage, "Can't do LIGHTS OUT tonight boys. I'd sound terrible and it wouldn't be fair to the audience." I'm sure people were bummed in Chicago, but that's a righteous way to go about it. Otherwise, everyone would say... "Phil sucked last night!"
