  • how do you Affored all of your RC stuff ???????

  • woow cool! ;D 5/5

  • How do I charge it, I lost the manual. Many bits of mine have fallen off such as the arms and the thing that holds it up. That isn't a problem.

When I connect the thing on the bottom of the controller to the charging thing on my Robo Copter, do I turn the robo copter on and keep the controller on too? Or turn the robo copter off and keep the controller on? Please help. I have no clue at all =/

  • Good job, keep the vids coming, nice mods.

  • The conversion you did actually makes it appear to fly much better.... Is this true?

  • is the brand air hog?

  • my first heli now i fly with the big boys but it was grate to learn on just keep it away from bricks it scratchs all the foam of and if you crash alot renforce the tail with a shishcabob scure it brakes after a while and on take of you much go full throttle and have good room but other than that grate for $20

  • you thinks thats flying with the big boys? my t rex 500 is flying wit the big boys

  • get a real plane

  • rofl?

  • oh yeah .. you got a 6 channel radio for the blade 400 you are always moving your fingers.. . i fly with my thumbs.. dont ask why but it seems more comfortable.. unless someone can tell me different ..

    chris ...

  • When you start flying 3d or high perfomance helis, you will find that you need to totally have a good grip on the left stick cause it requires such slight movements. You will never get good unless you pinch the left stick. Right stick, thumb is okay. If you watch Justin Chi or the Szabos, or ask any pros, they will tell you the same thing. I was taught by the national heli champ at the time and that is the first thing he taught me to do. Navy... ;-)

  • have you heard of the havoc razor? i have one it has the same tail fin as the robocopter and it drives on land and flies in the air really cool made by airhogs please consider buying it and reviewing it on youtube

    ssonic116

  • Yes. If I get anymore of these type of helis, I will certainly review it. Thanks.

  • I have a question about the tail , can one also add a surface that is angled a little bit at the place of the tail rotor or the tail boom or perhaps along the tailboom and is airfoil shaped to counteract the torque n maybe not 100 procent but 40 procent?

  • At these slow speeds, it would have no effect. It would have to fly fast like my Hyperfly Notar helicopter I designed. (see vid) Good thinking though.

  • thats cool! i used to have a robo copter but it broke 3 days after i bought it. i then got the havoc heli and i had it for 3 months already! in my opinion, the havoc is easier to fly plus it's almost indestructable. i crashed it at least 400 times and theres not even a scratch on it! btw the video was great. really interesting.

  • Thanks kindly.

  • I learned good from this thanx

  • Thanks kindly. Good for you.

  • gr8 reviews mate they have helped me decide exactly what rc heli and plane i want......great reviews keep up the good work looking forward to seeing more......o and P.S will you be doing another will it or wont it fly....that was good...cheers :)

  • Thanks very much. I may be doing one soon. Stay tuned.

  • ive always wondered why on rc models why you have to turn the transmitter on first. is that so it doesn't loose the radio signal?

  • It's ecause the receiver can pick up someone elses signal and your heli can easily start by it self and hurt you.

  • 2 questions... 1.I noticed with the havoc heli mod you moved the plastic weight back forward, what there much of a weight difference from changing the bodies? and 2. I can't recall the name off hand but your no rotor pie plate thing is eerily similar to the robocopters fan like thing on the back. How does the havoc perform with the no rotor or have you even tried?

  • Not much weigh difference at all. In fact lighter. The hyper fly must be able to fly forward very fast for the tail plate to work like a weather vane. The Havocs etc do not have cyclic pitch so could not go fast enough for it to work

  • Well done, Dave.

Watched the whole video. Good work on the body swap-out! I still can't believe the crashworthiness of this little guy!

    Cheers.

  • Thanks very much.

  • I like it how you have to make it crash .crashing is the gift I have.

  • LOL. We all have that crashing gift now and then. LOL.

  • nice jobit looks really awesome and flies pretty great too, anyway what do you think of those laser battle havoc helis ?

  • If you know how to fly, they seem cool, but again, they are elevator helis and don't have all the control that a cyclic rotor headed heli has. But they are fun for sure. Thanks.

  • neat, i noticed that too, that is as you know is the current draw maxing the batt voltage drops below the circuits recognition and then it resembles a pulse kinda cool

  • Thanks. Your right.

  • holy s*** that look soo much better with the havoc body NICE man

  • Thank you.

  • lol are thise all your little toys =P

  • Yep, and as you know, I have lots of big ones too.

  • That was really you in the jet suit at the end rite. LOL. great vid and nice idea changing out the body. it looks a whole lot beter and must have performed better too. 5*

  • Thank you sir. I appreciate that.

  • Nice music from Hall & Oates and the robocopter, too,is very original , I'd like to show you some of my creations Sr. I like your viedos a lot, they have a lot of information about rc airplnes, I'm a fan of airplanes, greetings Sr. and more videos.

by the way.. I have a small rc helicopter of SAN DA ZHU co. from china is very similar to the small havoc, Have you ever herad about this company? I'd appreciate your comments Sr.

    Thanks

  • Thanks much. I love your wooden planes. I have not heard of that heli you mention. Have you seen my MCX videos, like how long will it fly? You can see my wooden planes. They are painted though (and store bought) LOL. Yours have character. Thanks for sharing..

  • looks great with the havoc body on it.

  • Haha. THanks.

  • yep, very cool. now i gotta go figure out how to fix my psp

  • That's an interesting havoc conversion, but I love my robocopter in its original campy looking form. I've crashed it dozens of times and had to glue various bits of it back together again (legs, arms, head etc) and it still flies! I think the extended foam and structure and wire legs help it absorb a lot of shock during crashes.

  • Haha. Good. I haven't seen many real robocopters flying around, so guess I am from old school. LOL.

  • u shoulda explained how you had to add more weight to the havoc version to the front and you moved the plastic piece because the havoc body is much lighter compared to the person

  • Thought I did. Just a pea sized piece of Modelers or detailers clay is all you need.

  • i like the havoc hybrid

  • very intresting thanks for some great tips

i think this model is great. all the best jim

manchester u.k p.s your all your vids are just great.

  • Thanks kindly. I appreciate that.

  • That is better. Good luck with it.

  • that little copter is so cool, by the way dave.. you have a really beautiful house

  • Tnanks. This was donein my garage. I really live out there all right.

  • how did you get the body apart?

  • Very carefully with a razor blade, cut only an inch deep around the seam, the pull it apart.

  • lol it would have made me laugh if you just said very carefully.

  • Hey Dave! I'm wonering if you've ever heard of the 735 Set helicopter. If you go to Fry's Electronics, they are about $35 dollars. It's the same size as a Picco Z, but a 3 Channel! It's a really fun helicopter

  • Yes, it is a coaxial heli that uses a tail rotor mounted of to 90 degrees, so the tail rotor makes it go forward and backward, slowing one blade down or speeding it up, causes yaw. I dunno how it slides left and right. I have a small heli (see my gear repair video) that uses the tail rotor like this one, but I cant get it to go very far forward, before it "blooms" up. Glad your having fun with yours. You should make a video.

  • It's only a three channel heli.

  • I Like The Conversion Its Great, Get An Apache Havoc And Do The Convert Then, And Paint The Rubber On The Tail Green As Well, Would Look Awsome

  • lol the crashes sounds like its in a blender!!

  • Ha ha. Yep, the ole eggbeater. Glad you enjoyed that. Everybody like to see the crashes.

  • HAHA!! at roughly six muinites in, it started jumping aroung the table! (during the crash tests of course:)

  • should get the hobbyzone verzion 2.4 ghz

  • Hey Dave!

I got the same helicopter a couple of days ago, everything you say in this video applies to my robocopter too, i really like this heli and im planning to change the cover with a Picco Z cover as well, i was just wondering, what type of glue excatly did you use to seal the styrofoam together when you "dissected" your robocopter, i was thinking of using hot glue gun, but maybe it was a bit too heavy.

    Thanks.

  • Yep, that is what I used. Hot glue. Just put a few "dots" around the edges and it will be fine. Have fun.

  • Really, wouldnt the hot glue be heavy? My dad suggests i use 5 minute Epoxy glue. What do you think?

  • I like hot melt glue. I used it on mine and it is pretty instant. You could use 5 minute, but it is way more messy and really the weight between the both are not much. Just use a drop on the nose and bottom and the rear. It will still fly, as you can see. Mine is electric glued.

  • I got one the other day and have spent all weekend flying it. i have to say it is very cool for $29.99 at walmart. i don't think i have had a better toy in my life. it was flying smooth till the rotor popped off then it kinda wobbles in the air. it flies funny now and wobbly now but still way worth the price. can replacement blades be bought for it.

  • I think so. Contact Spinmaster(.)com

  • thanks for your continued service to the RC community.

your videos and the subsequent comments are not only a credit your self but to you youtube as well.

signed under my hand this day Wednesday the 2nd day in the month of April in the year 2008. may god budah or evolution(your preference) have mercy on your soul

no really your video are alway great and so also your invention contribution to rc helis. nightflyyer is a household name around here.

    thanks

  • Thank you for the kind comments.

  • Did you crash it hard? It could be a tiny crack in the blades or the seesaw lever on the bottom blade(you cant see it)usually breaks first, and that causes the blade to wobble and it wont fly. Sorry.

  • Great video, suiting music, thanks!

  • Thanks very kindly for your comment.

  • thats awesome air hogs should do that...you should send it in like the no-tar

  • Thanks. They have probably seen this already and are already making different bodies for it, ya know. LOL.

  • i got whun to day flys very good indoor

  • I do not reccomend this Helicopter at all. It breaks very easily. Even though there are many replacement parts, If the tail breaks (very very easy to do) it can't be replaced. It is dead. Better off with a Picco Z

  • Would you recommend it im thinking of getting this.

  • Yes, except it should be handlauched as it falls over on take off, because there is no head steering (cyclic). Otherwise, it flies very smooth as you can see here and in my other video on it.

  • Awesome Dave! Thanks for another video! You rock!

  • Thanks very kindly.

  • hello NightFlyyer!!

Jetpack that looks like a helicopter!

    Have tail rotor type fenestron

  • gd wat helis u gt i saw the reflex wat dat like

ur an expert im lukin 4 a gd cheepish heli wat wud u suggest

    cheers

  • For an "elevator" heli, this is fun. Next, see my vid on the night watch heli. It is fun and cheap.

  • Hey Dave, what kind of music did you use at the beginning of the clip called Robocopter-Extreme Makeover! I dissected it!. The music goes something like Around the touch. When your not around oh ay oh. Whoes the artist of that music?

    Thanks for your help

    Regards

    David G.

  • Thanks. Out of touch, Hall and Oates.

  • hey have you checked out the air hogs havoc stinger? its awesome its like a havoc but it flies better, i didnt trim mine yet and it flies awesome, i think that its in between the havoc and that robocopter thing. i got mine for 30 bucks. you should get one and make a review on how ya like it and stuff.

  • Im down for a while and going to build a gas heli for the time being. How about you doing a vid on yours?

  • ok i need to find my helmet first. i mounted my camera to my helmet for following my rc cars on my skates but i lost it so i will have one up like tommorow

  • Newbie on flying RC Helos, I really enjoy your videos Dave. I have watched so many of them and find them all superb. I have a HoneyBee AH-64D Apache. I have about 3 hours on it now and I am pasted the proverbial lets see how it crashes phase. Im good on throttle and rotor now. I just ordered a Walkera Dragonfly 1#B CCPM. Would like to know if you have any tips from fixed to variable.

    Thank you kindly great sir!

  • CP) helis are quite a handful. Fly a good sim 1st like Real Flight or Aerofly Pro Deluxe. Theyre just like the real thing. If you cant fly the Sim, then forget the model unless you have lots of $ for parts, time and patience. Memorize my 9 helicopter tips, and don't deviate from them. It also helps to have some coordination too, because you have to move both sticks in all directions ALL the time! There is never a dead moment!

  • Thank you for the quick reply. I do have a sim on the way. I will make sure to learn the good basics before I even throttle her up.

    Thanks again Mr. Herbert!!

  • So, have you considered trying the conversion with a Millenium PTU and a Havoc to get a Havoc with 2.4 Ghz radio capability (and more range as a result)? Might make for a nice custom that has the best of both worlds (size, ease of flight and much better range).

  • I have never ran out of range. Havocs are all Infrared but same there. Range with these small elevator helis are not a problem. I like to see mine up close. It has no cyclic controls to be able to go far anyway. Not worth the extra money to me for the Millenium.

  • Yes!!! I'm converting it.

I bought a cheep knock off havoc heli for 10 dollars and will switch the body to this one!

  • Great.

  • was it difficult to take the copters apart and put the havoc body onto the robocopter?

  • A good razor blade knife and I just went around the seam.. Pretty easy.

  • I like this video. I didnt think the robocopter would be a good one because of its shape, but you showed us how to change it into a better version of the havoc, thanks.

  • Your welcome. It flies very smooth.

  • Great music too, LOL.

  • Ha ha. Thanks.

  • I've got to I say truely LOVE your videos, they are great, funny and very informative! Thanks for all the great stuff!

  • Thanks very kindly for those comments.

  • Could you recomend a solution to a problem I have with one of my helis. It will not fly smooth or very sraight. It also fails to turn left. I can assure you it is not a trim problem. What else could be causing it? By the way great work on your vids they are very well done.

  • Thanks. Well since there are no Cyclic Controls to control forward or sideways motion, these "elevator" helicopters are difficult to fly withs much control, especially if a fan or heater is on. Try aligning your helicopter by turning it on on the ground and not moving it for 10 seconds before flying.

  • Ok thanks for your help. What is the cheapest helicopter with cyclic controls that you would recommend?

  • Amoung the Cheapest are the Honeybee fixed pitched. $75

  • u should do some reviews of r.c cars and trucks, nitro or electric u do really good review or airplanes and helis why not cars and trucks?

  • I guess I like the challenge of trying not to crash to Earth from the air. Besides I don't know much about cars, (I have and RC10 antique) and that is it. I just know planes and helicopters. I'd like to learn though.

  • Dave, are you going to do a review of the new Apache Havoc? Looks pretty cool. Looks like Air Hogs is coming out with more good stuff in 2008 as well. Thanks for the videos. I look forward to your new editions.

  • Thanks kindly.. I will do a review if I buy one. If it has the same electronics as the Havoc, then I doubt I will review it just for a body change.

  • I have a problem with one of my heli's. I just replaced the outter main shaft on my Ocean Rescue, and after balancing the blades and making sure everything was installed right, I went out to fly. it flew about 30 seconds total then there was a rather nasty case of rotor strike. How can i fix this so it doesn't happen again?

  • If you land too hard, or a big gust of wind catches the blades, the tail boom can hit the ground and the rotors hit the tail boom or the other blade. It is an inherent problem with Coaxials. There is nothing to keep that from happening, except remember my motto, "No Chop stick, no Bang Boom". Big wind gust will cause it too.

If that wasn't the problem, you have neglected something during the replacement, like a ball link not on all the way. Some sell longer top rotor shafts to help.

  • The longer top rotor shaft sounds like a good idea lol. Thank you and keep on bringing us the great new videos.

  • Thank you sir.

  • When does this go into production...???

spinmaster need to steal this idea and bring out a havoc-M1a2 version!!!

  • Robo copter is already in production. My version is just my way to make it look like a helicopter.

  • on a side note... i got a christmas gift. a aerohawk 4ch fp helicopter. i had no trouble flying the sim aerofly pro delux. the real thing seems much much harder.. still very excited...are there any tips you can give?

  • pretty cool convertion dave! thats awesome!

  • Thanks, it is a much smoother flying version of the havoc.

  • oh btw dave, i got the ef sabre, its awesome!!!!! , MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

  • Thank you. So glad you go the Saber. Good luck with it. I sent you my 9 heli tips, right?

  • i havent got the 9 tips :(

  • heya dave, very nice at making stuff :D nice work u done there, u could actually sell those :P MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! & HAPPY NEW YEAR folks!!

  • Thanks you sir, and glad you got the Sabre. Good luck with it.

  • Is that a movie clip at the end of the movie with the astronaut landing?

  • Ha ha. TV ad.

  • I love the funny sound effects. Haha.

  • After the "body swap" I noticed you moved the tail boom weight all the way forward. The old havoc body must be a bit lighter, huh?

  • Yep.

  • HEY! That's not cool, Leave that cp2 alone! LOL, btw I have one and finally got it to hover(or should I say I finally learned how to hover?)

    Merry Christmas

  • Ha Ha... Thanks. You and yours too.

  • very nice robohavoc dave! merry christmas to you and your family! from phivos =p

  • Thanks kindly.. Hope your Christmas day is merry too.

  • Nice mod. Looks like the rebodied robcopter flies smoother than ever!

  • It really does. Thanks.

  • Nice video

Would love to have one full size for me to fly in. only problem would have to loose a few stone, not the right time of year for that.

    Thanks Merry Christmas

  • Thanks very much. TO you and yours too.

  • Great!

Looks like a nice little copter.

Only thing it needs now is to be powered to a real jet pack!

Looks like you did some surgery on that poor thing!

That Robo Havoc looks sweet though!

A little birdy told me the software on the Apache Havocs is much better see airhogsgirl video.

  • Im waiting for Hydrogen fuel cells, actually. LOL.

  • wo a new and great video. the new helicopter flies great. i also had a question can u cange a 2channel into a 4channel.

  • Thanks.. And no you can't.
