I've honestly never heard of this plane!... looks like it was an interesting kit though - Heller always do brilliant box-arts, and this is definitely one of them. The result model looks brilliant as per usual as well.. :) Another one to add to your rapidly growing collection.
Another unusual and eye-catching model that makes your collection yet more gripping ;) Talking on in-between wars warbirds, I hope to one day come across a 1/72 or 1/72 Boeing P-12/F4B...
@AlanMartinNala Matchbox made a P-12 in 1/72, and as Revell bought most if not all of the Matchbox toolings when they gave up making models, I guess we can only hope that Revell will release the kit under their own name at some point.. If not you can still find the Matchbox original on the internet, or at model shows if you are lucky... :) Glad you liked my little D.510... :)
@trainfart Thanks... Well, these things happens, even to an experienced modeller.. :) At least I could make a new one, that was better and thinner... :)
@2paintminiatures Yes, I think it was the somewhat cumbersome wheel arrangement that made it attractive to me.. That landing gear must have caused a lot of drag.. :)
@TheRocketSilo Heller kits are classics in their own right... takes me back to my youth when there wasn't much else but Heller and Airfix to chose from.. :)
@BasicModelling "ugly in a beautiful way" Just like my step son's dog, which, funnily enough is a French breed!!! A Dogue de Bordeaux (the dog from Turner & Hooch!).
@badgrendels Well, that's another thing that I've learnt now... and the shield ended up much better for it! So much so that I may do this as a standard thing on similar looking open cockpits from now on, as the kit parts can be a bit thick and out of scale.. :)
Very nice!! I saw that kit at a hobby store I frequent alot. They had bought a collection of old models from someone. This one included. I may have to go and get it now. My girlfriend probably thinks I have enough models planes already that I havent built but oh well....I'll fight that battle later. :-)
@flubug1 You can't have 'enough' models... that is impossible!! :) It's a nice kit and an interesting aircraft for any model collection.. :0 So buy it if they still have it... :)
@awsem1o1 I have loads of started projects, it's all part of the hobby.. :) And you shall use whatever method of painting that works for you.. I would use an airbrush too, if I could.. but I have nowhere to use one properly... :)
@MrStarraider Well, they look sturdy to me... but they must have caused a lot of drag and slowed down the plane.. not a good thing for a fighter aircraft..
@chancerNW Thanks.. They had some odd aircraft designs during the period between the wars, until nessecity forced them to design more slimline and agile aircraft..
When Obi-Wan said to Luke: "He's more machine now than man!" I suppose we could say something along the same lines for this build: "It's more filler now that kit!" Well, you certainly whipped it into a particularly pleasing shape! And the canopy looks fantastic! Nice to see something that isn't a Spit, or a 109 or, heck, even a Jug! Ok, maybe not the last one.... ;) Fantastique!!!
@MakingModelsAgain Well, I seem to be all 'Jugged out', just can't motivate myself to build another one right now, even though I have a few started.. Just prepped with the cockpits painted and so on to save me time when I get round to making one again!! :) Those Brazilian P-47's are tempting me, but they're not calling me loud enough and desperate enough for me to actually get going.. just yet! Even though they will be 'beefed up' with maximum ordnance load when done... :)
@leokimvideo Thank you.. I just wanted a quick build as I otherwise wouldn't have completed anything at all this month.. :) Plus the aircraft is odd enough to interest me, just because nobody really has heard about it, and it very quickly faded into oblivion.. :)
@BasicInboxReviews hey i love models just like you try to build - transporet uniwesalny renault ue BY mirage hobby its very cool model 1/35 try if you like tanks and have time its realy cool model :)
I have two questions, how long did it take you to build this? And where do you keep all your models? Please REPLY....

Nicely done as usual, I really do like your silver finishes; master classes in brush painting they are :)
Never really been a fan of French aircraft, their Inter-War bombers especially are amongst the ugliest ever built IMO!!
bruce3371 4 months ago
@bruce3371 I agree.. they're ugly-ugly!! But then again as models they stand out because of it... and this is ugly in a beautiful way, me thinks.. :)

Reminds me of a spitfire for some reason. All that filler - can't you take them back and complain?
MrRandomWritings 4 months ago
@MrRandomWritings ..and miss out on sniffing all the filler fumes?? They kept a generation going, back then, you know.. :)

@BasicModelling I can't remember I was too filled out

A nice little build. Too bad about the fogging, but you got that straightend out very well.

@BasicModelling I never thought too much about the kit canopy, but you are right, often they are too thick.

@BasicModelling i might have to put it off for a while because its really cold for airbrushig, so when the weather turns nice i will start.

Wonder if the landing gears fell off on landing?
MrStarraider 4 months ago
@MrStarraider Well, they look sturdy to me... but they must have caused a lot of drag and slowed down the plane.. not a good thing for a fighter aircraft..
BasicModelling 4 months ago
@BasicModelling That is true but the German's didn't start making retractable landing gear until the late 30's
MrStarraider 4 months ago
@MrStarraider Yes, I think the first ones to actually make an aircraft that could retract the landing gear was the Russians...
BasicModelling 4 months ago
does this plane have a particularly long wingspan to fuselage ratio? those wings really seem to stick out there like dumbo ears! lol.

@TheMinisterofDefence I thought the same thing.. and I guess it probably did! It looks a bit odd now you're mentioning it.. :)
