My wife and I were watching this movie and I remarked, as others have also, that the theme music sounded familiar. I eventually came to the conclusion it reminded me of the the theme music to the 1970's TV series "Bouquet of Barbed Wire" You can compare that right here on YouTube if you search for it and although it's not the same it's so similar, I can't help wondering whether that was an influence for Rachel Portman when she was composing this music.

Loved the film so much, haven't been able to stop thinking about it and that beautiful piece of music by rachel portman, so moving!! It's a shame they didn't get to spend the rest of their lives together, but least they got to declare their feelings for each other and have a bit of time together as a couple. That's all that counts.
