it still amazes me how far games have come since i started playing them in the early 80's when characters were just a mixture of squares, dots & blocky bits.
Women in most mmorpgs wear armor that hardly covers them up. And I always think about how stupid they must be because their armor basically covers up their "private" parts and the rest exposed, so you can basically cut them up easily since their legs, back, stomach, arms, neck are usually completely exposed :P
@Harakashi One thing that drove me MAD back when I played WoW was the armours. To be fair in that game most of them are covering, but also skin-tight! I'm sorry but a woman wearing plate-mail does not look outwardly like a woman, she looks like a walking blob of metal, just like a man in plate looks. But that was more an issue with armour being painted onto your char rather than having textures. Still any armour that curves around breasts is dangerous, leads blows towords the heart!
It's entirely up to the players perceptions. You have the choice to think of Tifa as sex object or you can think of her as a caring person who lived in a slum, taking care of a little girl and sticking by someone she loved despite his many psychological flaws. You can choose to think everyone in Skyrim is bi or you can choose realize that the game is actually a canvas that you yourself must help fill with what you want. Skyrim is giving you options, nothing more.
@Zeluron Tifa was an unfair example for em to use really, as she is a fleshed out person in her game, though she will forever be seen as someone with huge boobs who wears a tight white top... not doing herself favours on that front. As for games being a canvas... well that isn't true, you can create anything on a canvas, games are more like paint-by-numbers. Sure you might choose to paint the tractor red or green, but you didn't draw the it, games are a canvas for designers, not gamers.
@Liennaslog The problem is you think everyone is bi because you can marry them but that's just an option there for you. You could pick one person, marry him/her and assume everyone else is straight, or gay.. or whatever. It's still up to the player how he perceives the game. Notice how with Skyrim the main character has no canon race? It's down to the player to decide just like it's down to the player to decide who in the game is into them.
Um which character are you talking about being gay in persona 3? I have played it, but not all the way through on the ps2. Also are you sure you're not thinking of persona 4? If you don't want to say for spoilers sake you can message me the answer. Also this was a really great rant I never really thought about the everyone being bi issue before.
@Liennaslog It's ok I just wanted to check. Also there is a gay character in persona 2 so I wasn't sure if you meant that one or 4 at first. I did think you were wrong about 3 that's why I asked. I'm a huge rpg player so ya. Also thanks for clearing all that up.
Another game I think that went with the "everyone is bisexual" is Fable. I'm not sure if it's just the first one and the expansion or the sequels. But you could literally marry any townsfolk you saw and gender wasn't an issue. Literally everyone in fable actually was bisexual lol
I don't own Skyrim so I wasn't aware of the "bisexual" thing going on. But I don't think it was a matter of sexuality specifically. The creators were either too lazy to fully flesh out the characters you could date or they just decided to let the player marry whomever they wanted without thinking too much about it. As for the thing about women with giant boobs and wear almost nothing... how quick do you think a game with a male character with a giant wang in a speedo would get shot down? xP
@Megabot89 That so should have been a multiplayer game mode for Duke or something... You know in shooters where you have one person who gets points, everyone else can only get points after killing that person? Do that, but everyone who doesn't have the ability to gain points is in a speedo, only the person who has clothes can get points, you get clothes by taking them off the 1 clothed duke's corpse!
As for "Everyone is Bisexual." I don't necessarily like it, but it's a step in the right direction. People tend to flip out about nothing when it comes to homosexuality. Game developers don't want to cause a big controversy so they're taking it slow. We'll eventually get there, it'll just take time.
@NamelessRedWolf Perhaps this is only applicable in England, but if someone was openly homophobic here they would be looked down upon similarely to people who are racist etc. Game developers trying not to make controversy kind of reads as "Well... we don't want to alienate the homophobic part of our audience". Hopefully in time will mean sooner rather than later.
I hate it when female characters have gigantic boobs and don't wear much clothes. How am I supposed to take them as serious characters? An example of a good female character in a video game is Elena Fisher in Uncharted 2 (I say U2 because that's my favorite version of her). Not only was she a really strong character, but they made her look good without making her unrealistic.
:) I'm bi and I have to admit the "everyone is bi" approach to dating in games does get annoying -.-; I've been rejected by hetero- and homosexual people because they wouldn't date a bi person, and the number of other bi people I know is (sadly) pretty small, but in a game like Skyrim, EVERYONE is bi!
I like how Bully handles player-char sexuality - each faction has a 'gay' character you can kiss, you decide if jimmy is gay/straight/bi, etc. they dont make a point of anyone being bi but oh well
@lostzinzthought I do find it crazy that gay people reject bi people... I'm certain that everyone who is gay ahs had to deal with people judging them on their sexuality, you would think that people would learn from what has happened to them. Ah well... more love to bi people, anyone who can love someone because of who they are, not what they are is a cool person in my books!

Makoto from Enchanted Arms is extremely flaming... Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just think it was a bit overdone.
