  • True, the timbre wasn't intrinsically as pretty, but with the way he used it, you wouldn't begrudge him that timbre.

  • No, it was far from hideous, just not as attractive maybe as Wunderlich or Gedda's voices. Somehow I prefer hearing him in Italian even though this was his specialty. Or was it?
