No Phone no Stork.................open your fuckin mind troops......met Gary in Edinburgh,gr8 chilled out fella,Carl played France briefly in the background.....IMMENSE
To anyone who would like to know my interpretation....
this song was written about standing on your own feet. Fleeing the nest. Living free and independently, albeit if that means things are bad. Doing one's best to strip parents of responsibility, growing, developing, self-actualizing, dancing, drinking, singing, living.
Living free. All at sea. Don't worry dad, I've got it.
Love this song. This and Seven Deadly Sins are probably my favourite of the lesser known Libs songs.
And for those who want to know where to find this stuff, they WERE all on a fansite called Albion Arks along with loads of mp3s of demos from their many sessions, but that site appears to have run out of funding or something :/
@shareschannel i dont know, i remember personally getting it on a cd for a magazine/newspaper years ago, I presume the uploader got it from the same place, *shrug*.
i'm not 100% but i think peter and carl's fantasy acardia is a name for the place they went when they took drugs and was a way of romantacising it and making it a poetic and relevant place for them, then again i might be completely wrong, just from the many interviews, books and songs i've read and heard it seems thats what it is
Completely fucking right...well nearly. But do you twats wanna stop firing shit out your mouths and do your fucking research before posting shit like that.
No, it's completely wrong. Arcadia is the representation of all their dreams and effectively their perfect world. It has nothing to do with taking drugs to get there. So you do some research huh.
Thats why is said NEARLY. But ooodzy was pretty close. Its not completely wrong, its very nearly right. And how do you know that they didn't use drugs to ''get there''. Your'll never really know why they took the drugs, maybe it was so they'd see the world in a different way.
i hold my hands up that looking back i did get it wrong but peter did say that experimenting with drugs was part of the albion experience or something like that, dont really want it to come across how it has cause im a fucking huge fan of his and all the work that he's done and in no way mean to diminish any of his work!
Albion is the oldest known name of the island of Great Britain. It is thought to derive from the white cliffs of Dover. Today, it is still sometimes used poetically to refer to the island or England in particular. He uses it in reference to a old Engliand, and his romantacised view.
can someone tell me about albion,i know albion is a song by babyshambles, but what actually is albion? im sure hes not singing about west bromwich albion coz their shit and he supports qpr anyway
albion is the old english word for britain. pete and carl also used it as the name of a ship sailing to a place called arcadia, a place where you could be completely free - a libertine.
i think you'l find he is singing about the baggies, because we'r and insparation, we always bounce back, bounce nounce bounce baggies, thats why he sings about albion ;)
you can't read so much into the songs, plus i might be wrong but isn't this from early libs sessions? like before all that codology with drugs break ups tablods etc.?
oh no, i think i wasn't clear there, i'm totally aware that they were into drugs for a long time, i meant specifically when pete started messing about with crack and as it really started to claim a hold on him, so i just meant to say that to read this song as a reaction to how his dad or carl or whoever disowned pete because of drug use wouldn't be fair because that didn't come until a good few years later, you know?
i don't reckon this ones about carl, i think (at least bits of it ) are about his dad. "but i'm all at sea dad, i don't know if i'm coming or going" because his dad disowned him because of the drugs i read somwhere.
Alllbion, is this not Road to Ruin? I have downloaded Babyshambles sessions and there it says Road to Ruin but obviusly on album Road to Ruin is very different. However I love this and agree that it is sad, but still beautiful. Rate it like Breck Road Love and Your'e my waterloo. Probably both about Peters love to Carl.. Where can I download? Any idea? Up the bracket!

they were taking drugs waaaay before they were famous.
i think the height of their fame was also the height of pete, and carl's, drug use.
