  • lolz...i thought it was some other guy..!!!

  • Hey man could you repeat this lesson wth the tigger costume. Without it i can't understand you very well. jeje it's joke really good lesson like the others.

  • Synyster Gates?

  • Nice videos man!!!!

I was wondering if there is a real samurai sword behind ur back in the video.....I can see it's handle but I can't decide if it's a katana or its smaller bro??!

  • isn't that sephiroth behind you??...nice... and it seems it's laundry day. :P

  • omg that hoodie is amazing.... Monty python ftw

  • Great video. Your channel is very informative for beginner drummers and I really appreciate what you do. However, I feel that you're selling the buzz roll a bit short. And while I know you're more of a metal drummer (which I can definitely respect), there are many set styles that incorporate buzzes as a core effect. Many of these fall into various jazz genres. But, I think it'd be beneficial for any new percussionist to learn in-depth concept and applicable features of the buzz roll.

  • You look like static-x LOL

  • @ryan9710 You mean he looks like Wayne Static. "Static-X" is a band. And it's impossible for one person to look like a band.

  • the more you know

  • Sephiroth picture in the background. o_o

    Winn.

  • Thanks for the informative vid's Spikey! Can I request a lesson on spinning sticks?

  • whats that little soccerball looking thing in the corner by the full screen button,,... i t makes a wierd noise

  • I have a problem.. nothing to do with the video but when I drum, for some reason my snare skin seems to dent in, even if I don't hit it hard. Why is this? How does it get to sound like yours? A reply would be useful, thanks :)

  • hair looks gay

  • man your drum is all red, looks like you've mashed the head of some guy doing a rim shot

  • u look better in tigger suit

  • Thanks so much for your vids! You have no idea how helpful and easy to understand they are, especially for a beginner like me :) <3

  • hi... i am a beginner drummer ...i like your videos and i learned a lot ...thanks...keep going on vids i like you style....

  • HA The Masamune and Sephiroth stand...LMFAO! And thanks for these lessons, I love 'em :) Don't play too much of drums yet, but I'll be sure to check over these again when I get my own kit!

  • great vids, spikey! is that masamune behind you? sweet!

  • you look like the tigger even though you 've taken off your suit.

  • I don't know if I can trust a guy who isn't wearing a tigger suit.

  • hahahaha Totally agree with u dude

  • Is that a Monty Python sweatshirt?

  • OMG BAD ASS SEPHIROTH POSTER! lol.

  • were you in matching band like drumline?

  • I am just glad to see an instructor/drummer who knows to keep the fingers underneath the sticks and use them and hammers/springs to the drum sticks to make the sticks more efficient and controlled, as opposed to sticking them all out with the pinky like their drinking fancy wine. You're a great instructor.

  • @allenvanhoosier

Seriously, almost every drumer I see on youtube sticks their pinky out when they do rolls. It's fucking annoying.

  • u look funny without the tigger suit

  • i want your sephiroth sword. D: And thanks for the tips man.

  • Put on the tigger! :-p

  • TIGGER SUIT!

  • where's the "Voice enhancement"? 8-(

  • no tiger suit :(

  • Nice Sephiroth poster in the backround!

  • josh i love your vids. your a drummer that has my style. but may i ask wtf is on your snare head? oh and ur god like at drummin

    thanks

  • hey how did you do those buzz rolls so fast i didnt get it

  • how much did sepheroth's sword cost, thats fucking awesome man, ive also seen you wearing a zelda shirt, my 2 favorite game series

  • there is actually a couple of ways to get the "ring" or resignation sound out of the snare. first is tuning, make sure its tuned right, next is actually very cheap but pretty affective, and it dampens the noise, you can use it for the whole kit, its duct tape and wash clothes or hand towels, then there is moon gel and studio ring which and that much

  • Lol I love the Final fantasy poster in the background

I am guessing he is a big fan like me!!

  • What happened to Tigger?!?!

  • does the snare stay tuned when you hit the edge(rim shots)?

  • yes it does.

  • cool...

  • Nice katana. =O

  • i need some help. can you make a video on how to get rid of snare buzz? please that would be fantastic

  • If you mean when the snares vibrate against the bottom head when a guitarist or someone is playing that can't really be helped too much... you can tape the snares down to the bottom head if you want.

  • i mean like when you hit the toms.

  • Gel pads

  • have em dont help to much. at all.

  • well me personally i like duct tape...sounds ghetto but it works.

  • you look like popeye. if they ever do a film you should try and get the part (no offense!). great lesson btw.

  • good lesson...not to mention the sweet sephiroth poster in the back...i missed that the first time ha.

  • Ick! GOK tap tap tap GOK tap tap tap x.x

  • very nice! like youre videos! leanr alot!

  • wheres the tigger suit D:

  • yeh where is it!

  • Awesome vid dudeski, ive had my drumset for likealmost a year now and i dont know how to tune it, help?

  • I'll have a tuning video out soon... and thanks!

  • yes a tuning vid would be very nice

  • haha that sword is sick... how much was it?

  • thanks! and I have no idea... Dad bought it

  • haha lucky!! and tuning toms vid would be nice :)

  • Dude thats a sick Sephiroth sword you've got back there! Can you kill a dragon in one swing? Anyways I love your vids, I'm digging all the cool drum knowledge you're dropping. I need MORE!! Keep it coming bro.

  • thanks man! and yes... I was also able to impale the basilisk on a tree right outside of Midgar as well...

  • SUPER SAIYAN great vid thanks dude

  • lol thanks

  • i think buddy rich uses buzz rolls alot doesnt he?

  • I'm sure he's used them before

  • cloud in the back ground there

  • close... Sephiroth

  • Hey, do you have a lesson on ghost notes?

  • well, my very first lesson has a bit on them, but I'll be posting a new one shortly

  • Awesome, Thanks

  • You somehow look like that guy from Static-X, but he has a lot longer hair, and a rotten voice.

O, and he can't play drums that good^^

  • lol, I've heard that a lot... and "dbz character" and "wolverine" and "paul from tekken" and many others... (not much of a static x fan either... lol)

  • is that the most awesum sephiroth from final fantasy VII ?? i love that guy.. he's so kool :D

  • yep! he sure is!

  • ... You look like Wayne Static without your suit on... Thats meant to be a compliment XD Nice lesson!

  • thanks man, I really don't know what the guy looks like, but thanks! I get that a lot!

  • you look pretty col without the tigger costume :O

  • thanks! I'm glad you liked the video!

  • Dude, is that a sephiroth poster with sephiroths blade?? O.O Where did you get that?

    Anyway nice vids!

  • yep! that's the masamune... it's actually my Dad's, so I'm not too sure where he got it.

  • =D nice Sephie poster lol

  • Thanks!

  • ive been watching these and just realized "i dont have a drumset!" only a drum pad because im in school band but still I can learn whenever I see my dad (very rarely though:() but they dont have double pedals so.... but I MIGHT be getting one for my birthday or christmas! yay!!

  • awesome man... I hope you get a drum set! it makes a lot of this a lot more fun!

  • what is the snare you are using?

  • it's a pearl custom snare

  • cool.. I just want to ask, are you practicing everyday? =)

  • I try to... but that doesn't happen... lol

  • My only problem in drumming is that I am practicing twice a week, only saturday and sunday. that's why my progress in drumming is very slow. =( I am thinking that, I will resign in my work then I will practice everyday. lol

  • lol, well quitting your job might not help things either... lol we all need moneys sadly... however I will say this... sometimes just thinking about drums will help you learn... I know it sounds silly, but I drive a freight loader at work, and I have a lot of time to think... and often a lot of this drumming comes from thinking about drumming... lol

  • I see... I hope to see you playing drums soon! but I don't think it will happen.. lol. thanks a lot for the advice.

  • cool finla fatiscy poster in the back

  • thanks!

  • Hey dude i want the katana behind you i want it please give it to me please???

  • lol sorry... I couldn't anyways... it's my Dad's

  • i love your vids dude, but i miss the tiger suit :( lol

    keep drummin man your awesome

  • thanks man... OH! and don't worry... the tigger suit will always be on here! don't worry

  • Cool picture on your snare

  • lol thanks man

  • sometimes your heads just wear out and dont give you the sound you want

    or tune it?

  • sure man... they'll eventuall wear out or break... that's why you can tune or replace them.

  • For some reason i don't know, maybe it's just because i still have stock heads, but my snare sounds ringy, even when i hit in the very center!

By the way THANK YOU FOR MOUNTING YOUR SWORD RIGHT!!! Some people mount it upside down lol. =)

  • ah... well sometimes that's just the way drum heads will sound... but thanks man...

  • Okay so It's definatly the heads?

  • well not exactly... I'm not there to hear it... so I can't be for sure... it could also be the springs under the snare (need to be tightened)

  • awesome poster and sword

  • thanks! I'm a bit fond of it too... lol

  • no tigger

  • I know man... bad choice on my part... I was too tired to get suited up... lol but I won't do it again

  • hey man one question

what happend to youre snare skin ?

looks like a blood splatter mark :O

  • lol very close... it's actually a drawing of Gegamizer... the great wizard atop his severed mountain cap... the red is actually a lot of fire... lol

  • huhu masamune.

    xD.tnx a lot spikey drummer. :D

  • your welcome!

  • mate im watching my way through all your vids, ive been playing drums for like 2 years now and kind of stagnated recently, can't seem to move on...after watching your stuff i have so many new techniques to try so thanks!!

My mate got a sephiroth sword too but broke it. What an arse.

  • thanks for the encouragement man, I'm glad you like the videos! drummer's block can be so frustrating sometimes...

AH!!! it broke??? that's what you get for playing with relics!

  • nice sword behind u

  • thank ya! it's sephiroth's masamune

  • r u serious????

where did u get that beast!?!?!?

  • yep, very serious... I don't know where we got it, but it's official... my dad came home with it one day...

  • Hey do you have a list of your setup? I do like how you have your snare tuned. From the video it's just a tad bit hard to tell what type of drumhead you have too, lol.

  • oh... yeah... the scribbles... I understand. I use aquarian heads for my snare and toms. I have a 6-ply maple pearl master custom set... five toms, pearl custom hand-hammered snare, bass, ride, hi hat, two crashes, and eliminator pedals (double).

  • dude... is that a killer rabbits shirt? I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE ON EARTH THAT HAD SEEN THAT MOVIE!

  • no dude... lol... holy grail is one of the most popular movies... you should wikipedia it sometime, it's rated in the top ten funny movies

  • i want your snare drum

  • lol cool then... I'm sure you can find one on ebay or something

  • Nice video, Spikey. Though it seems you have given up on the Tigger suit?

I've never really seemed to be able to get that rim shot very well. I think I am seated too low, because my seat is a piece of crap that only goes so high.

Looking forward to more, catch ya later.

  • ah! no no no... the tigger suit is not gone! I merely posted some short lesson videos... but brace yourself for more tigger... He'll never die... I understand about position... the easiest way is to get your seating relatively high so that the snare is slightly above your leg level... then just naturally drop your hand and the stick loosely and you'll get a rimshot. you can always make a new throne... lol... I played for years on a kitchen chair...
