Profit ! Its a bicycle..... You can get an R1 for that much, or a used GSXR 1000 or a Hayabusa for as much as Cannondale is asking for there bikes. Get realistic Cannondale.
yes, a DH bike is ideal, but were not talking full body armor and 50 degree inclines here. Ive ridden this bike down Whistler and it takes a fucking pounding. Your body will too with the 140mm, but it holds up just fine!
I have the Jekyll and the Scalpel both bikes kick some serious ass. Love my Lefty. People look at me weird because of my shock. They have no idea how well the Lefty handles. Great shock for great steering. Lol!!!!
Great Bike. I've tried Specialized's FSR and all the VPP bikes, and when you are riding there is vertually no difference between the Cannondale a FSR and VPP rear suspantion design. The main thing to be asked here is where does all the steering control come from? the front of the bike. Where does most of the trail impact come from? the front. What brake has the most affect of stopping? the front. The rear suspention is not as important as the industry leads everyone to believe.
@chazmaniac624 if you owned one you'd know that you can lower the seat and float over almost anything. It starts to wobble at 40+mph but every downhill isn't mammoth mtn
@Chris385261 so true. my friend has been joining my rides with an old, rusty bike with no suspension. we haven't been doing downhill (not enough protective equipment), but the terrain hasn't been nice, and his bike manages just fine.
Because you need a DH bike to go Dh, It was defiantly retarded for miles Rockwell to ride 3" super V's downhill back in the 90's. Your totally right you need a 220mm bike the go down a hill or you will crash 100% of the time. Is that why its called ALL MOUNTAIN instead of All mountain as long as the mountain never goes down?
There are a ton of very interesting new bike frame designs out there. Many are very complicated with several complicated pivot points. But it doesn't mean they are better. No doubt some of them will make the frame perform much better, but I think some may just be for show. Sometimes simple is best.
I also forgot to mention that Cannondale have now expanded its manufacture to thailand, not just america now. At least that is what i was told. And i should mention that my F7 is that lightest bike i have ever ridden. I broke my last malvern Star....'nuff said.
The prophet is actually a pretty good bike. I would say that it is on e of cannondales finest. I got the F7 the other day, and thats not bad at all. I love the rear susp. on this bike. pretty awesome eh??
I bought one a prophet used off ebay, which was my second cannondale, and I have to say, it is one of the best bikes I have ever ridden!! I just have nothing bad to say about it.
The Rize will be a slightly shorter travek bicycles, but it is laterally stiffer than the Prophet. It is also a multi pivot suspension system as opposed to the single pivot design of the Prophet. I have ridden one and it is definitely stiffer than my Prophet.
i'll get flamed im shure ... but i own a 97'superv 500comp i bought it used,it is stock and rides great.i was wondering if anyone knows if my bike is commpatable for the lefty shock? my rear shock (fox vanilla) is super, plenty of travel. but the front it seems i need more travel on dh/freestyle riding. if anyone out there knows drop me a line please :) great video btw thanks
If your Super V 500 has the Headshock style fork steerer tube you could use a Cannondale Lefty. However for the cost of a left you might look for a new bicycle.
I love my lefty, best bike I have ever had. I ride mine to work everyday. The front Shock freaks people out a bit but it really doesn't effect the bike in any negative way- its not unbalanced and feels just as stable and rigid as a conventional fork.
Lefty forks are the best of the best. It's a shame that Cannondale is discontinuing their prophet line. Grab one while you can!!!! I have an 07 Cannondale Rush 4, I love it!
Oh and or the record I am 6'3" and 220 pounds and after a year the Lefty FFD (lowest end Lefty) has not failed, it has proved stronger than both my right knee and left collar bone :)
Just a correction about the 08's not having the Lefty, the real reason is that Manitou went under and Cannondale could not source internals for the Lefty in time (Manitou made many of the parts for the Lefty, TPC, FFD, SPV)
It has nothing to do with customer response or actual strength issues, if anything its the opposite if you look at it from a purely marketing standpoint the Lefty is pure genius, an easy way to set you bike apart from every other bike on the market.
The new prophets dont have lefty forks, because like you say people feel its a little fragile for an all mountain bike and look at it as a cross country fork. I've never had a problem with mine, beat it up a lot and it's still holding up fine. But the new prophets have fox forks now.
I own a 2007 Cannondale Rush 4, and it is perfect. It steers as if it can read my mind, climbs great, and soaks up all the bumps. Cannondales are better crafted than other bikes. You can really tell that they are a detail oriented company. If I had the money I would buy the top end models of most of the cannondale bikes.
Cannondale made the best bike I ever had, a caad3 road bike with custom wheels. Before that I had a 3.0 crit bike and sold it for 3 times what I paid for it second hand, because it was a fast stiff racer with disc wheel.
ISNT IT CANNONDALE?! everyones saying cannondal i dunno but yeah i think it is better since its in america cuz ive got a treck 4300 alpha w. extras to make it last longer n shit and i think the bike is a peice of shit now firrst year it was good but its barely holding itself together now so i think ima get a rush
Bullshit "made in America" so it must be great. I am so sick of hearing that shit. Its marketing again to suck in gullable fools and there are plenty of them.

tommygunn is very right...look at the new Specialized Enduro...SICK...or great classics like the NRS by giant, or trek fuel, etc. Anyone who works in a shop knows how many C'dales come in with issues. cracks, lefty issues, bearings (lots of them go bad FAST), etc. I work in one, so I know. Great bikes, but not perfect...
I have an 05 prophet 600 that has many upgrades as I wore the parts out{i ride lots,i live beside the niagara escarpment}. It is great on 8 inch roots and 5 pin bowling ball sized rocks, rooty, rocky, roller coaster hilly forested area. I ride this a few times a week.
Yesterday I found that my 2007 Prophet 5 had been stolen, locked up, in a locked unit, in a secured area. It's an awesome bike... if I had it again I would throw every damn lock I had on it and put it at the bottom of my bed after every ride. I'm so bitter right now it's untrue. :'(
perhaps recently they have gotten better, but the old mountain frames were absolute shit. an experienced welder can make a totally smooth weld, like on the old klein bikes. someone at cannondale liked that, but instead of hiring good welders, they just ground their dime stacked welds flat. this makes for a really weak shitty weld. not hard to fold a frame like that. buy a specialized full suspension, or a gary fisher hi fi deluxe instead.
