  • The small fans look more like 0.14mm fans.

  • i dont like it, sorry

  • um i have a fat ps3 that been running every day for at least 10hrs since 09 and it still running like new.

  • how did you make the ps3 sign glow on the top and wer did you get the fans from?

  • I have 500 fans plus a flux capacitor pumping out 1.21 jigawatts! What now bitch!?!?!

  • lol

  • i have 10 fans on my ps3

  • Ummm ps3 slim anyone? xD ran it 6 hours no over heat

  • PS3 CANT HAVE RROD DUMB ASS

  • PS3 CANT HAVE RROD DUMB ASS

  • the fan is 12v as well.. this is overkill just put a fan controler in it and replace the cheap thermal pased if you want to inprove airflow that bad cut a hole were the fan is inside the ps3 and put the fan controler i have a original 60gb that never gets hot and i did what i just told you to do.. ALSO REPLACE YOUR 15 blade fan with a 19.. the 15 circulates air and is louder then the 19 which kicks alot of air out

  • would those fans cut your fingers?

  • your an idiot, if you ever wanna do this shit do it right.

  • As far as putting fans on the BACK of the PS3, you can put them there but configure them as exhaust fans and not intake fans. The rear of the PS3 is where most of the air is expelled with the other exhaust being out the right side of the console. So exhaust fans on the back and right side and intake fans on the front. This is how he does it in the vid, he just isnt taking the time to add exhaust fans on the back because he states he doesnt want to fool with taking the motherboard out again,

  • B.O.B awesome

  • but u know u have nice modded ps3! =]

  • why not just buy the slim one? it cant get "sonys red ring of death"!! =]

  • @TheEuardo15 do the old ps3s have the red ring of death, i dont even think they can get a ring of death if they wanted to. i have had my ps3 since 2008 still works man

  • @killerdeadzone "rrd" works only after u play for 12-24 hours in a row... =]

ye maybe u didnt play for 12-24 hours in one day... =]

  • @TheEuardo15 i think it would start glitching out after 9th hour playing skyrim lol plus i would only play for 12, to 24 hours if i got paid for it, or if i was an insomniac (or just plain meth head haha) <btw never gonna happen fuck meth

  • never EVER put fans in the back of ur ps3 dude. theres where ur ps3 breathes

  • @criss0906 Fans ARE the breathing....

  • @CallmeRoth in the back is where the ps3 exhales the hot air. so if u put fans there ur ps3 will die sooner, its like putting two super fans in ur nose. ur not gonna be able to breathe

  • the only 12v source that ive found was the 12v source powering the blue ray player

  • @gracious210

Thats what I used man you got it

  • Comment removed

  • get a pc

  • do the fans work like help it from heating up ?? and wat are the fans called

  • Uhhhhh, This may still work, but the top vent on the ps3 is an Intake, not an exhaust. im sure this doesnt make a difference in your work though. but now there is a 3 way "vaccum" of air in the inside of the system.

  • not a fan of the fans on the outside... but the light up logo was wicked sweet

  • Your PS3 is gonna get too cold instead of too hot :L

  • looks like the mother ship lol

  • looks like crap. no offence

  • a decepticon will come out of that thing anytime :) nice work!

  • i need your help!!!!!! were did u find that 12v source on the motherboard

  • @gracious210 use a tester.....

  • well if you had an xbox they sell intercollers for $20 once again showing xboxs seperiority over ps3

  • @NinjerxShotZ lol they sell intercoolers for ps3 too. they don't work anyways so it doesn't matter.

  • hi i watch your video and y like to install de 4 fans, cant you xpln were you take de "LINE" to make star de 4 fans

  • Yo, check out my ps3 cooing mod. I cut out 3 holes to fit 3 mini fans underneath my ps3 casing. Many things went wrong, but i finally got it working :L

  • Lower mounted fans would work better on my 40gb model... Hint hint. Dont wory though ive modded the hdd to a modest 640gb so yano.

  • soo can i use a laptop cooling pad to cool down my 120gb ps3 slim

  • as far as i can see your tapping into the main power source for your ps3 which damages the ps3. your stealing some of its power. it may not seem like a lot but overtime it hurts it bad.

  • 2:00 Volcom! :D

Nice Mod, i want try to make a cooling mod, i had a YLOD on my FAT 60gbs.

  • does it prevent from ylod

  • poor playstation :(

  • Your ps3 looks proper awesome! But i wouldn't have all those fans on it. I just keep my ps3 in a open space. I had my ps3 for nearly 4 years now and still runs strong. Good video, i liked and sub :P

  • love the logo and the lights on the bottom i bet its a b!&$* to clean

  • Just as an FYI, your big fans on the side are the wrong way round. You have them pulling air out of the system - the vents on the side are an intake. If you don't believe me, find someone else's system and hold a cigarette or incense stick next to it - you'll see the smoke being pulled in.

  • this is awsome! how does your ps3 run powering all that shit?

  • cool i love neon so bad

  • nice

  • its doesn't look cool one but i quess cooling performs will be better than referance :) GJ

  • why not daisy chain them? would of looked much cleaner

  • That is fucking sweet!

  • look shit

  • @Gopackersjt yes it is because the ps3 is known for overheating more than the xbox 360

  • Blue leds are for mature kids at age 13. Grow the fuck up.

  • You just made the 80 gb look like another bare bum in the shower

  • cool mod, i think playstation and xbox needs to take notes on how people are making better cooling systems for there consoles cuz the stock cooling just does not cut it anymore, there are just too many systems dieing cuz of overheating and it retarded how you pay between 200$ or 300$ for a system that will only last about 2 or 3 years and there are n64's that still work to this day

  • any possible way you could put together a kit wit wiring diagram as i'm kinda nervouse about taking mine apart already had to send it to sony once.

  • have you had any overheating issues or ylod? im planning on doing something like this except giving the fans a seperate powersource.

  • i was thinking of getting those outside fan that you put on you're ps3, one throwing the air in, and the other one taking air out. and glue the fan on the right side of the ps3, or on top if you are standing the ps3. also i'm planing to make something so the ps3 will be elevated from where it stand like 3inch above stand., because i like to leave my ps3 horizontal way . i won't do all those things you did with the fans, because i don't have that ability that you have.

  • If you had the front fans as intake then why were the fans facing the same way as the top extract fans. you prob wired the front ones in reverse which goes against the blade design so they arent working as good as they can.

  • just put new thermal paste on then you can have a ps3 that doesnt look like it has been covered in glue and thrown in to pc world.

  • there is 12 minutes of my life ill never get back

  • my house is always cooled and my ps3 (slim) never get over heated =D

  • ok, Im a 360 guy (Im not trolling) and I have done something similar to my xbox, but is this really necessary to do to a ps3?

  • I love your work, I hate the music you hear :)

  • Hey mate have no sound at work so didnt hear anything. You got those fans and leds running off the pc?

LEDs wouldnt matter so much but all those fans would suck a bit of power thus making the ps3 hotter.

  • @Bluterus The fans would maybe increase the load by another 30-40w, not much at all, wouldn't increase the temp. The psu is more than powerful enough haha.

  • @sneaker177 Yeah true man I been listening to too many console morons that whinge about disrupting the airflow, drawing more power, creating heat etc etc.

Since I posted this I just chopped a hole in the bottom of mine put on a magnetic filter mesh so I can clean the dust off it easily then run a laptop cooling pad. Also cut out the plastic grill on the back over the exhaust and it flows shitloads more air.

Wish I could do as good as you with all the LED's but looks tough.

  • @Bluterus Nice! I don't even have a ps3 haha, but I love seeing mods and shit for these little things XD. I remember back w/ my old pc case my temps were so damn high, shitty cheapo case :/. Antec 300 dropped my idles by 15-20 and loads by 10 :D

  • @sneaker177 Yeah good case them I run one at work runs cool as. At home I got a thermaltake Armour+ best mod I did on my q9550 was duorb cooler and ic diamond 7 resulting in 25 degree temp drop on load.

  • Looks as bad as a 360, nice job.

  • i made my ps3 fans to 12v then i just got something to make it to 9v and its very quit and works perfect i play 4hrs and its not hot at all

  • nice done

  • What a shame...

  • Hay modder. How do i go about powering the fans.Iv got the lyod twice now and i presume that it will happen again so im going to go ahead and do this mod.So I'm wondering what a molaxe is,if that's what its call and how I go about setting it up.

    cheers bud.

  • I plan on cutting a hole in the bottom of the case right under the ps3s fan and sticking a 120mm fan right on top of it to blast the air out the top and back. Already had the ylod once on my 60gb launch model dont want it again...

  • looks so shit proper cheap job you should build the fans into the ps3 or put casing round them it looks like the fans are just stuck to the outside by a 4 year old aha

  • lol u never have to worry about your console over heating lol

  • @RyanWed18 His did :P

  • hm :( that looks ugly ..

  • Now that's just nasty.. those small things rotating air around themselves, making noise, prolly make you feel good about yourself... Won't do a damn thing to help the cooling.

Mod the original fan to go at higher RPM, that'll actually reduce the temps the way it was engineered by someone who knows about 186 times more about this crap than you do.

    No offense meant.

  • @petti78 Actually the fans will increase general air flow inside the console, higher intake + insane out-take. THIS will reduce the temperature. If i get my pc w/o case fans, cpu aftermarket cooler on max. Idles at 38-40, load at 50-55. That's @ 28 ambient. With case fans on MEDIUM, 2 intake, 2 exhaust, I get 33 idle and 45 load. Airflow makes more difference than just one fan pushing air.

  • YOur a mod legend!!

  • I hope you understand the dynamics of airflow and how those 2 top fans are placed on that vent incorrectly. the top half of that side vent is and intake, whereas the bottom half is an exaust. with this in mind, those fans will conflict with the flow of the top intake half, thus negating the idea of "cooling down the console". lol

  • dude you should of not hot glued it cause what happens if one of the fans brake you cant take it out you should of used those pulls strips and just strip it on there but besides that i like what you did with your fans

  • i know this is a bit late but, you could just get a usb multi-tap so you get all the ports backs

  • i dont no why some people complain or critic how loud fans are when u wont even hear the dam thing if u hav ur volume turned up, in my opinion who cares how loud they are if they do their job. But thats just me

  • @BugarijaBBD

    Thats what im saying!

  • Maybe u should have looked into liquid cooling lol, time better spent and less power consumed.

  • hay i really want to do something cool to my playstation like up PS3 in LED's and hook it up so it reacts to sound. I know you need a chip for that.I'd relly like it if you could make a video on how to hook up the leds and how to hook up the chip.

  • what website do u get ur LED n RGB lights from?

  • @06202020

    phenoptixcom

  • One sick ass mod I'm gonna try mod my White controller with LEDs and rapid fire and see how it turns out.

  • by any chance do you know how to fix a YLOD

    mine just broke Yesterday >:(

    damn you sony lol

  • @thetom260605

There are some videos on how to do it already on youtube, its never happened to me but I believe you will need to reflow the solder, you need a heat gun I think. just search it

  • @thetom260605 Yeah buy the heat gun at Lowes $25 and Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound from Radioshack $10. Watch Gilksy's video on youtube except spread the compound with "the cross method" instead of the thin layer

  • @BakeswithNUG

    The cross method?

  • @ATLien174 skip to 2:16 in a video entitled "How thermal compound spreads" by a user named yaochoon so you can get an idea of how the paste spreads. The thin layer technique is so wrong it got me into ylod 4 times already! Then you gotta use "a break- in period" ie: leave it on for a while laying down. As it gets hotter it spreads out more compound and settles. I'm doing like a 12 hour session as I type. It's loud right now but when the paste settles better it will be quieter like on launch day!

  • @BakeswithNUG

    I see. Interesting.

You might want to go with IC Diamond 7 or 24. These are far better thermal compounds than AS 5.

To be honest with you Liquid Pro is the best out of all of then, but you can't use Liquid Pro on aluminum, so try the IC Diamond. Its doesn't bleed like that other stuff.

    innovationcooling(dot)com

  • @ATLien174 I didn't even know that stuff existed!! I'll wait til my PS3 craps out again to order it because I applied the compound the correct way this time; I have a feeling it's all good. The second it happens again tho I'll go straight for the IC Diamond. Thanks for the info!

  • @thetom260605

search youtube for oven reflow it worked for me on my 40gb

  • lol your ps3 overheats????

  • @elmexicandehoustone

It did once about a year ago when I first put a strip of 8 LEDs in it, I had the cover off and that decreases the air flow. I played almost an hour then it just turned off.

  • @TheModdder do you know how to fix a YLOD

  • @TheModdder dam that sucks.. lol beware of YLOD!!!!

  • wow you got alot of leds on that

  • the fan look to be very noisy

  • putting fans on it wouldn't extend the life, It's gonna kill the power supply faster.

If you really want to extend the life of it, add/reapply thermal paste...

  • @wynston05613 he says that 4:50 that he did switch the thermal paste

  • @zARCADEz o srry didn't see lol

then he shoulda been fine without the fans :3

  • Pretty intense

  • u should have a switch to turn extra fans off to see if the ps3 fan speeds up or stays the same without the extra help

  • @ppage27

May do that tomorrow, I have a pilot light switch

  • @TheModdder did it work?

  • @ppage27

Haven't put a switch in yet, prob sometime this week

  • what's the point? Unless it has been overheating or you have too many leds...

  • @KingVike28

Well its almost 3 years old now and I want to do everything I can to prevent the YLOD (knock on wood)

  • now you can play for years whitout your ps3 overheating ^^

  • Nice mods. But the top fans looks very odd and out of place.

  • Sweet.

Hey thanks for the song title, I would of got it sooner or later but I would of forgot anyhow if I didn't ask...
