The fast motion on the HV40 is ugly. The hands bluring on the HVX is far better than the multiple strobing image of hand movement in the HV40. I'm guessing both where shot 24p native? Both at 1/48th? Assuming so, then you might NOT want to have fast action in the frame with the Canon. But yeah, otherwise it looks like a nice "B" camera for you Panny.
People the HVX is by far a better cinema camera, The reason it dosent look like it here is the camera angle and the fact that these people probably dont know what their doing.
u should have the same distance in both so the brightness has a fair comparison, other than that its good, you also didnt say what your filming at 60i 24 k or p or 30 i???
Its not easy to compare two videos that has different sizes,as one is zoomed in more.But Panasonic seems more crisp to me if I paus the video,pluss Panasonic is more light sensitiv,which also gives better quality in dark areas.I got Canon HV 30 myself and I like it but Panasonic looks a hair better to me !
We are using 2 of the HVX200's on our next short film, I like it because it looks and feels more professional and handles audio recording a lot better.
