The Sears is not in Europe. In is not in Malaysia or Dubai. It is in Chicago. And because it is in Chicago it doesn't need the pointless flamboyant grace of an oil country building. It doesn't need chrome. It doesn't need to be something it is not. It is just what it is...a powerful building. As much so as the absolute beauty of WTC1 and WTC2 defined the New York skyline before they fell, we hold our building in that that same respect. Let it be as it was built.

It has hunches, it has spikes, it has history, it has SHOULDERS in a city of shoulders! It fights the sky and skyline..and wins.

WTC 1 and 2 were just like The Sears. Extraordinary massive building without adornment. Because they didn't need frills. They just were. They didn't need holes or spires or odd slopes and trims and useless lights or the rest of the "things" that make the modern hyper building so popular. When they were built they were task oriented buildings, that to me made them amazing and simply beautiful. To paint The Sears silver would be the same as putting chrome rims on a forklift. It's just wrong.
Most super-tall buildings being built today look like a architects toy. They've got holes and curves and spires that make them very "appealing" in a way. Don't get me wrong, the Burg Khalifa is a simply amazing building in just about every way. It's extremely beautiful. It breaks all tallest building records at this time. It is a Ferrari of buildings and the Sears is a forklift by comparison. But oddly enough, I prefer the forklift.
It will always be the Sears Tower to me. (I am from Chicago) And to change that building to a different color is just wrong. The Sears should always be black. It should always look kinda mean. It's not a graceful building in the modern sense compared to what is being built today. It doesn't need to be because it just looks solid and angry and beautiful all at once. If you were from here, you'd see that's all the building needs to be.
Might as well repaint the United Center blue, Wrigley Field gray, and Soldier Field purple. You know what lets just give these Dumb fuckers Chicago so the next time i look at a map it will say Willis, Illinois
