@elsamuraiguapo aw man i don't have much money and i'm not even from U.S i'm from Malaysia and that's15$ in my country thats about RM 90 or something.....im crying right now :( cuz all i have is like RM 30
@Akhtum100 Well if it's any consolation, it's definitely worth it. I like the Vietnam expansion better than the main game. And flying the Huey is really fun.
@sspecialairsservice It shouldn't be too difficult. I still have my helmet from Vietnam, and although I haven't had a sound check in quite awhile, I believe it still works. Look on EBay. The most common helmet for US Army pilots was made by Gentex Corp., in Carbondale, Pa. The last reunion I went to, about 5 or 6 guys brought their helmets to show.
I'm a former UH-1N Twin (November Twins as they were affectionately called) Gun Ship Pilot. I disagree with the comment made by viewer Skeebote. I learned how to fly in a D (Delta) Huey and found them to be under powered. The first N (November Twins) that came over in 1970 were completely un-airworthy and were grounded. After 16 days of reengineering in Saigon we had 10 that were ready for combat. Those 10 were geared for the extra power and out performed a D.
Everyone on those have guts. But I think the pilots more than anyone. IN and out of the hotzone-multiple times, sometimes without gunners. The take the wounded out, and risk their necks to save others. They are my heroes.
@cobalt789 Huey combat missions were always flown with a Crew Chief and a Door Gunner. They are my heroes. The pilots sat in armored seats while the guys in the back sat on flak jackets and wore a chest protector. Once the flight was over the Crew Chief and Door Gunner did routine maint. on the ship and prepared it for the next flight. And if they crewed a gunship it meant policing up the expended ammo and re-arming the ship. No easy task in a mini-gun armed ship. A UH-1C might carry 5-6,000 rds
@choprjock Im just saying, pilots were responsible for anyone and everyone on board. sure it was tough to be a crew chief or door gunner, but it was the pilot's responsibility to keep the thing flying.
@cobalt789 I appreciate your sentiments, but as an ex-Huey pilot, the guys that crewed those ships are/were my heroes. Check out the YouTube videos "The Man in the Door", and "God's Own Lunatics" by Joe Galloway.
@xXStupidHurtsXx I'm not sure where you came up with your stats, but Hueys flew approx. 7,500,000 flight hours in Vietnam, and Huey pilot and crew losses were 2,177. These numbers were compiled by the VHPA (Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Assoc.) Certainly flying in VN was dicey, but your numbers are not supported. BTW, I flew slicks and gunships for the 1st Cav. in 66-67.
@choprjock I found those numbers on numerous sites. That is once the battle started, the gunner had that life span. Not arguing, sites may be invalid. Thank you for your service by the way!
@xXStupidHurtsXx Thanks. I appreciate that. Check out the VHPA website. There's a tremendous amount of info available there, and through their links, about helicopter flight operations in VN. Amazingly, even an individual aircraft's history can be traced. I'd trust the info compiled on that site, rather than any other I've found.
@timjessa1 Thanks. No, I'm afraid my flying days are over, although I'd still love the chance to go for a ride in a UH-1C again. Of the guys I knew in Vietnam, at least one guy kept flying helicopters til 2003, then he retired. I'd be curious to find out if there are still any Vietnam era pilots still flying active duty. The last I heard about were with a Medevac unit in the Hawaii National Guard and were deployed to Iraq around 2006(?).
@choprjock .. did you fly slicks, guns, or dust off?? i bet you can find an airshow where they have huey rides. we have a great show each year at hanscom AFB in bedford mass. i can only imagine the irony of someone like yourself "paying" to ride in a chopper when at one time you had a ship at your disposal !! also, have you thought of putting your memorys into a book?? my grand dad had the most amazing storys of the south pacific during WWII and i wish he had written them down. thank you..
meh... crash landings, accidents, crashes, mechanical problems, etc. some get badly damaged and turned to spare parts for other choppers. but ya any ways UH-1 is the best helicopter ever built.
The D and H models could handle it at sea level and below which is most of Nam. The newer models like the N have less power than the old nam birds. Even though the N has twin engines the trans and drivetrain cant handle the power so then you just end up with power you cant use (extra weight).
I flew Hueys and getting off of the ground with 11 troops and their gear (+the crew) is pure fantasy. Depending on the heat and humidity (power robbers), and fuel load, getting off of the ground with 6 grunts could be a challenge.
bad to the bone!!!!!

One thing Ive heard from veterans is that once you hear the whopping sound the huey's rotor blades make...youll never forget it.

@Akhtum100 A beta key? The vietnam expansion has been out since like November-December dude. You need to buy at EA's website; it's $15.

@elsamuraiguapo hehehe....i know it has been out since November - December but can you just download it?

@Akhtum100 You mean pirate it? I doubt it. You need the access key that you can only get when you buy it online.

I love hueys. Ive always wanted to transport guys in and out of combat in a helo. But those pilots have guts.

So do the gunners...Life expectancy anywhere from 7 seconds of combat, or 11 minutes of flight time...

What baffles me is that most door gunners had to volunteer. My grandpa was a door gunner so im a little bias lol. Vietnam was hell.
